If you love chocolate this is your place. A hidden gem in NWI. It’s located in a small store front across the street from Zuni’s and right next door to Town Restaurant. They offer all kinds of homemade chocolates. We recently bought of box of chocolates for my wife for her birthday. All proceeds go toward the sisters of St. Francis de Assisi charity. Once again, this is your place if you love chocolate. Enjoy!

For my 300th review, I want to celebrate the efforts of a creative, dedicated and resourceful person who runs a small business which both showcases her talents, and supports her community. From her modest brochure: «Poverello comes from the word poverty. Saint Francis of Assisi was called the „Poverello“ or „Little poor person“ of Assisi. Sister Evelyn Brokish, founder of Poverello Delights is a member of the Sisters of Saint Francis of Assisi.» She established this business with their help and with the help of her family. She runs it by herself out of a small house located just east of Indianapolis Blvd. in Highland, IN. Her proceeds help her order and some of the retired members of her community. She has an extensive number of choices of fresh, natural(and as we love to say these days) hand-crafted chocolate delights. There are sugar-free creations as well. Walking into this little house is like going into a nice little hometown bakery. Sister is in the back kitchen, her hands in the chocolate. She greets you in a most sweet and enthusiastic way, offering tastes of various products. There are boxes of hand-made toffee(my candy favorite) in half pound boxes for $ 10.00. Over twenty different items including Peppermint Rounds, Chocolate Flowers Mint, Chocolate Raspberry Delights, Chocolate Orange Delights, and even chocloate«pizzas» with nuts and berries and raisins as toppings. I bought about $ 40.00 of various items and she boxed them all for me. She prefers orders by phone(vs. online) and she will ship and trust you to send the postage later, after she’s mailed it from the local Post Office. If you don’t send a check, she might whack your knuckles with a ruler. Just kidding!!! This sweet sister would never do a thing like that. I mean, she makes candy, ‘fer cryin’ out loud.
