Its all about the meat. I have been going here for years and likely will continue to go there for most stuff. They really have some great checkers whom I feel like do a great job. The problem here though is twofold and both issues based on the meat counter. It is hard to get help here as they are either understaffed or the staff that is there will allow you to stand there for several minutes before asking if you need something. Yes, they are cutting stuff up and likely doing their«chores» but why make customers wait? So the solution would be to get the meat from the refrigerated area that has fresh meat already packaged right? Wrong. Several times I have taken home meat and saw that the underside was fatty and not trimmed. Looking at the package it looked fine– but unwrapping a steak and finding that they threw in a bunch of scraps under it to get the weight up is poor for business. Really– do not trust them now so I wait for someone to come to the counter. Again, this takes so long that I often just go elsewhere for our weekly grocery shopping and use Staters for our fill in stuff.

Maybe I don’t look nice enough, after working a twelve hour shift at the hospital, for your employees to even greet me. Maybe this store just doesn’t want my business. I do know the employees of the store on Highland and Palm always greet me and are helpful. Two people were greeted and asked if they needed help at the meat counter, but the employees said nothing to me as I stood there hoping to get some ground pork. That’s fine. The cashiers happily chatted up the man in front of me in line, then the THREE people all manning one check out lane promptly got into their own conversation, and I got the lamest greet and pay now ever. Specialty items yes, customer service NOPE.

I just love this staters everyone that works there is like family. The manager Mondo is the best. He can always be seen talking to customers, working the check stands and saying hello. Thanks to all who work there for preserving an old fashion quality called customer service.

Late review, went in to get some last minute flowers couple days ago. Was pleasantly surprised at the selection. The floral worker was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Maria really knows what she is doing and has a great eye for arrangments. Definitely spreading the word as i did not expect the level of service i ended up receiving.

I’m reviewing them on their bakery. They always do a great job on their cakes. Never diassapointed. Today Meredith in the bakery helped me. She offered to write on my cake without my having to ask and if I order a few different small pastries, she puts them in different boxes. It’s just that she puts in the extra effort. Really appreciate it!

Extremely friendly employees, always willing to help! Great prices and always stocked! Their bakery is amazing as well. Have ordered a few«custom» cakes their and they have always exceeded my expectations. They look like they were done at a high end bakery at a wonderful price!

I go to this store once a week to do my weekly grocery shopping. Normally, the cashiers are friendly, talkative, and helpful. Today I went to pick up some snacks and had the unfortunate opportunity to enter cashier Sherlyn B.‘s line. She was obviously having a very bad day because not only did she not greet me when I entered her line but as soon as my transaction was finished, she left without saying a word to me. Customer service goes a long way Sherlyn so next time remember it is the customers who allow you to keep you job.

Only place I shop. My great grandmother, grandmother, and mother all shopped here too. My wife loves the full service butcher. They slice, tenderize, and ground her meat for her. I like the deli. They also have very competitive pricing and you don’t have to use a card to get low prices.

I am new to the neighborhood and I have been pleasantly surprised by the courtesy and sensitivity displayed by the staff in Stater Bros. in Highland, CA. as described below: I have been typically greeted with smile and good eye contact. A particular staff at the meat dept. was responsive and informative to an issue regarding my purchase in the past. When rained rather heavily, I noticed that a few staff helped customers(including me) to load the grocery so that the customers can shorten the loading time under rain. Given these positive experience with the Stater Bros. in Highland, I feel comfortable giving them 5⁄5.

This Staters has some of the rudest employees around – particularly the checkers. There are only a few checkers that are friendly and that actually realize you are standing in front of them. The employees in the meat department are mostly good – most are very helpful with the exception of a couple. The tall, thin, late 20s looking female with glasses in the produce department is extremely rude and of no help; she should actually be stocking shelves or produce at night. The deli is terrible… you can stand there for a couple minutes while several employees are visible and talking among one another about their lives before they assist you; this has happened more than a few times otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this. A couple of times I have just left because I didn’t want to wait any longer while being the only customer at the counter. The manager is friendly and will greet you but it doesn’t seem that the employees have any fear or respect of his authority – being that this unprofessional behavior goes on while he is there. Possibly he is not assertive enough and plays the role of «buddy?» Furthermore, the only reason I go here is because it is convenient geographically.

Oh Stater Brothers. Nothing says Southern California like your name. The one in Highland, East Highland, to be exact was clean and fabulous. My sister and I were visiting for Christmas, and decided to make my Dad and Mom some delicious steak/shrimp/mushroom dinner. The seafood was clean and did not smell like that nasty«it’s-been-in-this-case-too-long» smell. It was great. Plus, I was surprised to find that you carry Frog Legs… ha! Whoa, that’s crazy, Stater Brothers. Always a treat to come and see you again.

We are glad to have a new store in the area but were disappointed when we heard another Stater’s was moving in. Granted it’s a great company that started in nearby Yucaipa and I worked at a Stater’s for a couple of years when I was in High School. They fill a need in the community but let’s not get too exited about the whole thing… This is a beautiful area but there is still limited in local availability of better foods in general. We usually just make the drive to Gerrards or hit other stores when we are in LA or OC. I don’t know what the other reviewer spotted in terms of «gourmet» foods but the selection is seriously lacking. «Whitebread» is a better description of the store offering. Stopped in last night and the only Filet Mignon they had was«select grade» — ouch! King Crab was pretty anemic looking as well. As with other chain stores in the area, the better meats are simply not offered. Couldn’t find a decent blue chesse in the«gourmet» case so just skipped it — rest of the cheese selction was sadly uninspiring as well. Very poor selection of breads — most of it made with junk(enriched flour, fructose syrup, etc. that I will not feed to my family.) Produce selection was pretty good but more local /organic offerings would be nice. Picked up some beautiful artichokes to throw on the grill. They have quite a few wines available but the best they had was nothing more than mediocre plonk — pass. Picked up a nice seasonal Kolsch in the beer aisle but the overall beer selection suffered even when compared to the lowly offerings of Vons and Albertsons. A few better craft breweries were represented but most was jus the typical American Light Lager and Euroswill as well as the too many of the so called«microbrews» offered by the big brewing companies. Didn’t check out the«middle aisles» with all the pre-packaged foods as we just don’t eat most of the stuff. One thing I used to hate about Stater’s was the inevitable long checkout lines. They seem to have dealt with is since the lines have moved quickly on the couple of stops I’ve made here. The staff is very freindly and polite as well.

Stater Bros. Markets have been an Inland Empire phenomenon for 70 years now. What started out as a full-service butcher and meat market has turned into one of the most successful Southern California grocery store chains. The concept was simple: grocery stores with a decent selection, low prices and an awesome full-service meat department. My family and I have been shopping at their locations for decades; and my only(small) complaint was that their selection wasn’t as good as, say, an Albertson’s or a Ralph’s — especially on gourmet items and the like. Their new store in East Highland, however, changes everything! Wow!!! That pretty much sums it up. Located in The Village at East Highlands plaza on Greenspot Road(a road once famous in the area for its miles of orange groves), this place is truly a full service market that the other grocery stores in the area are going to have to sit up and take notice of. Their selection is wonderful; very much beefed up from what it used to be. Along the aisles are little gourmet areas with higher-end items. Added to their already famous full-service meat section is now a very impressive seafood counter offering all kinds of treasures from the sea including live lobsters. Their wine and liquor section has expanded greatly compared to their other stores; and I’d call their selection now more than decent. They also sport a build-your-own salad and soup bar and an expanded deli and bakery featuring delicious cakes, pies and artisan breads. Also of impressive note is their Pharmacy section, coupled with a health and beauty section set aside from the rest of the store in its own little area. I know. you may be saying that many other store chains already offer these things; but Stater Bros. was always about the bottom line when it their business concept: Low Prices, a decent selection and a focus on their meat Its nice to see one of my favorite grocery chains is «growing up» so to speak. And the best part is that the prices are still pretty low! Definitely give this place a shopping try!
