Dickey’s Barbecue Pit

Dickeys has always been a go to for dinner for myself. I love coming here the food is great and so are most of the employees. Today I went in though and I was not treated like usual. One guy was really cool and seemed happy to see me but the other guy was just a grump. He had this long beard that should not be okay in a restaurant, maybe out in the woods it would be okay though. He’s been working there a while though and usually he’s okay but today was not okay. Love the place but dealing with a rude and unsanitary employee is not what I look forward too.

Very disappointed because this usually a pretty good and quick bbq place. We ordered here for mother’s day and the first issue was that they were out of beef brisket. How are you a BBQ joint and you run out of beef brisket? That is a staple. Next we ordered the onion rings, very soggy and cold. To cap the whole night off, we ordered 3 different meats… they only gave us 2. Terrible service, food wasn’t good, and they couldn’t even get our order right. Mother’s day disaster.

Super disappointed that at 6pm they have no more baked potatoes and don’t seem to care that I’m disappointed. Just want to complain about how sometimes they make too many and they take too long to bake. Also, advertising fresh apple pie, but they have none. Not coming back.

I frequent Dickey’s often as I work very close by. They are always so friendly and give quick service. The food is great and I can’t get enough of their fried okra.

Best short ribs close to home!
My experience is always so lovely at this location. I stopped in last week to get my weekly fix of their beef brisket (which is to die for) only to find to my dismay that they had just sold out! The guy behind the counter (I didn’t catch his name, but he had an incredibly huge brown beard and glasses) was so incredibly helpful! He was extremely apologetic for the situation but was quick to sell me on an equally delicious product. He took the time to chat as he efficiently finished our interaction. I was surprised to see that he took this care with every customer behind me! It’s great to see the staff handle a crazy busy environment well, without letting their supreme customer service skills go by the wayside. The interaction with this gentleman will absolutely fuel my future visits!

Good stuff! Brisket and Pulled pork are smoked overnight onsite. Cannot go wrong with that!

I really enjoy coming to this Dickeys. The food is consistently well cooked and tasty. The employees are always courteous and willing to help with special requests. You cannot beat the price for the amount of food you get. I am so glad they are so close! We come once a week!

I would say we heat here about once a week, I like to call myself a «regular.» Dickeys in Highlands ranch is very consistent. You get a solid bbq meal whenever you visit. Great prices, great food and very personable people all make it a place that my family like to return to. My favorite is a three meat plate with ribs, pulled pick and brisket (with some burnt ends thrown in for some extra flavor!) sometimes I splurge and get the polish sausage. Overall it is a great place to grab some great bbq!

Amazing staff, great food and fun environment. The store does get busy but the employees know how to handle the customers and heavy rush. I love this store and the people. Recommended to many people. Sean is an amazing employee and always has a smile on his face when customers walk in. Kate is always interacting with customers as well. Just a great store. Keep up the great work!!!

For quick everyday BBQ, Dickey’s is really good. I had the smoked chicken today and was gooood.

Holy Smoked Turkey! Oh my! We ordered this for our Thanksgiving meal and it was delicious. We are anxious to try the Cajun Fried turkey they offered, also and I’m betting the ham is great, too. This was such a nice treat as we hosted this year and it took much less time to prepare and was exceptional as far as flavor.

Picked up family meal recently. I hadn’t done that in a year or so. I cannot believe how dirty the restaurant is. The tables, the floor… ugh! The food was ok, but can’t do the unsanitary conditions. It is unfortunate because we live close and BBQ is a great way to feed a family. I am saddened by the downfall of this place.

Normally I love Dickies BBQ however this store is filthy. Booths may have never been wiped down, flies everywhere, floor is slippery.

True story… went in last night so in the mood for BBQ… while we were deciding what to order, the guy behind the counter with long blonde hair, lifted his hat with one hand… and drug his other hand dangling a glove he intended to put on… and dragged his fingers and dangling glove through his greasy long hair… as he asked what we wanted to order… he proceeded to put the glove he just wiped through his hair on his hand in preparation to touch whatever we ordered… we decided to get out of dodge and told the guy exactly why we were leaving. We found Brickyard BBQ on Google and ate there instead. Much more sanitary experience! I called today and spoke with a manager named James… and he really gave the impression that he couldn’t possibly care any less. Will not be back ever again, which is a shame, as we live so close.

Solid, if uninspired chain BBQ.
My dad likes this place so we go to the Dickey’s in Highlands Ranch now & then. My first exposure to Dickey’s was in the DFW terminal waiting for a flight home. Not the best way to try Texas ‘cue.
I usually go for the daily special plate. Last night was supposed to be three ribs; however, they were out, and the wait was 30 minutes. I settled for chopped brisket, with sides of coleslaw and beans with bacon. The brisket was tasty, the sauces forgettable. Beans were pretty salty.
All in all, decent BBQ, nothing spectacular.

Out of ribs? How the heck does that happen at a BBQ place? On a Monday with 2 people in the whole place? Then an employee gets up from eating a meal and starts working behind the counter without washing his hands. You decide if you want to eat here or not.

Reluctantly came back for the food they forgot to give us on previous order because the food was so bad. But the woman working there was much nicer than the guy I previously done business with up there. She apologized about the food and seem to really care. The food was much better this time. Go earlier in the day if your gonna go.

The Dickey’s I used to go to closed, so I was happy to see this location listed when I looked up restaurants after spending the afternoon swimming with the family.
We’ve always enjoyed Dickey’s… You don’t exactly expect an amazing dining experience when you go to one, but it’s good anyway. The brisket is good, the mac and cheese is kinda watery but not terrible, the coleslaw was great, and the fried okra was… eh, alright. (Admittedly I’m used to Rib City’s fried okra and their sauce is amazing, so… ymmv.) Most importantly, their BBQ sauce is good. (I just had the regular. However, my husband had the sweet & spicy and commented that the spicy pretty much drowned out the sweet, so… there’s that.)
I can’t really comment on the dining area as we got our food to go, but from what I saw the five minutes I was sitting while our food was being put together, the place is kinda dirty and everything has a slight stickiness to it. It was rush hour, though, and to be honest it wasn’t bad for how busy it was.
I’m glad we found a Dickey’s near us again, but I still prefer Rib City (on Mineral & Broadway) over these guys any day. I do like the way Dickey’s does their brisket, though, and my husband’s always been a fan, so I’m sure we’ll end up coming back here again soon.
PS — kids eat free Sundays. Woohoo!

I was really hoping that I would be good but overall I was disappointed. I got the family XL meal which is 3 pounds of meat (3x1lb portions), 3 medium sides, and 8 rolls. The side dishes are very small in proportion and cost of the meal ($ 48) and the only gave me six rolls.
The meat was very below average for BBQ. I got the chopped brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. The ribs were horrible, extremely dry. The brisket was the best of the meats but still not even close to what I would expect from a restaurant that has BBQ in its name. As for the pulled pork, it tasted like it was cooked yesterday and microwaved as leftovers. 2 of the 3 sides I chose were pretty good (Mac n cheese and Jalapeño baked beans) but I didn’t care for the bacon green beans. The rolls where dry, I had to put butter on them and I usually don’t on good bread.
Dickey’s is a fast food restaurant not a BBQ joint. If you show up with low expectations as you would at Taco Bell, then you may just enjoy the food. It is very close to my house so I will probably eat there again because of the convenience.

I ordered the 2 Meat plate. The Ribs and the Pulled pork. Though the Ham was a runner up as well, with Mac And Cheese and Baked Beans.
The portions are almost on par with Yazoo BBQ. And the Prices are great. Though they are more expensive in Colorado Mills mall. Go figure.
I assume its not actually cooked in an open pit but hey the flavor was packed in every bite and the meat was juicy and not dry.
On my co-​horts plate i tried the brisket which im not usually a fan of and it was delicious and tasted great with no sauce.
