Horrible experience ! Went to this café today for the first time. Came highly recommend by a friend. Placed our order at 12:30 the waitress said she was new and it was her first day. It became clear to us that something was amiss when we saw the other waiter acting very mad and angry about something. We waited and waited and waited some more! 50 minutes later we asked our server if it would be coming out soon??? She said let me check and see if he has started making yours yet!!! She came back and said he had not even begun cooking ours yet!!! No apology NOTHING after we had been waiting for 55 min. We stood up and left without a bite of food. Will NEVER go back! Obviously they do not care about their customers!

I went there the other day for the first time and ordered the eggs Benedict and even though the hollandaise sauce was a bit cold(that’s just not picking) it was without a doubt the best eggs Benedict I’ve ever eaten. I highly recommend going.

After exploring brunches around Chicago and Sydney, the Mrs and I are now in the northern suburbs of Chicago. And while I love Walker Bros., we like variety in our random weekend brunches… after a few searches we came across this place. So we get in the car and make our way. We pull into a strip mall and enter the restaurant and inside you would think you’re in a smaller family run establishment in a small town. By that I mean its cozy, friendly, and the waitstaff is talkative and personal with the regulars. There were a few too many tables sqeezed in here as I had to pull my chair to the side to sit down. The coffee was pretty decent, nothing to go crazy over, but it did the trick. I had some sort of scramble. Very large, lots of sausage and cheese. Almost to the point of being overbearing… It is better than the average diner, but nothing special

I love this restaurant, it’s an Excellent breakfast spot. Everything on the menu, especially«Mike’s potatoes» is delicious I have gone alone and in groups. Wish I Lived closer but well worth the 25 minutes I drive to get there.

Had an awful experience on a Sun at 11a. Took an hour to get our order and then it was wrong when it came out. The waitstaff was so rude and unapologetic and wouldn’t even bring crackers for our young children while we waited. Would never return to this place.

I was detoured by extreme hunger on the way to Milwaukee. I got the tomato and brie cheese omelet. It was weird, but the portions were good. My wife’s ham and cheddar cheese omelet was better than mine. Overall, it was decent, but nothing that would knock my socks off. The staff was nice and the décor was very homey. I would give the food a 3 star and an extra star for the service.

Food: The breakfast food was good whenever I had breakfast there. The club sandwich and potatoes are the reason why I liked the place though. Service: The previous waitress was friendly and welcoming. The current person is just plain dry/rude. During my last my visit I was so uncomfortable/annoyed with her pompous type attitude, I just wanted to leave, but I had already ordered. She was also very dismissive when an older customer asked her a simple question. Doubt that ‘ll come back.

Good Unilocal brunch find. Small little shop but a very good and tasty brunch menu. Visit if near.

Great Server!!! My problem was I saw the owner come out and get in a fight with somebody about their potatoes! He was extremely rude and condescending to an old man! Breakfast is the easiest meal to cook, I will never go back there!

Last Saturday, I joined my wife for brunch at Café Pettopia and had a very serviceable experience. While the food was good, it was not spectacular. The service was friendly, but with the number of tables v. the number of staff, I could see how other diners have had issues. We arrived late in the morning/early in afternoon and there were only a few other tables. Overall, we had a satisfying meal with attentive service. I had the frittata and my wife had the two-eggs breakfast. I thought my frittata was good and would recommend. My wife threaded the needle by ordering over-medium eggs. She thought they were a little runny, but I can forgive that. Who really knows what over-medium means? They weren’t liquid, they weren’t solid and my lovely wife ate them, so – close enough? No one(certainly not me) expects someone to navigate the troublesome waters between over-easy and over-hard without bumping a rock. The potatoes are good, but not amazing. Not something I would hang my name on. But seriously: not bad, either. Not something for which I’d exclude the restaurant from consideration. Looking at the poor reviews I’ve seen of Pettopia and balancing them against the great reviews I’ve seen of Pettopia, I have no problem believing all of them. When it’s good, it believe it’s great and when it’s overwhelmed it can see it go downhill quick. Honestly, a good scrub(and a reduction in the number of tables) would transform this diner into a real gem. Decent food and a warm manageable service(in a spotless dining room with — I can’t stress this enough — zero silk flowers) will keep people coming back to this tucked away place. I’ll eat there again, no doubt. They could improve, but I think their heart and direction is in the right place. Give them a chance, but(maybe) not if they’re super busy.

This is our favorite breakfast place in town. It’s definitely less crowded on week days than on weekends, if you have the choice. I’ve never had a bad dish, but our personal favorites and the blueberry pancakes & eggs Benedict w potatoes. Oh, and the staff is always super sweet and accommodating!

I have dined here on two occasions so I believe this to be a very fair review. Service is super slow! They will account for this by saying … «We only have one cook». But seriously, this last time it took over an hour for our food! There were maybe three tables ahead of us. One of them was fairly large with five or six people. The other two tables were one two top and one four top. I could easily have made all those breakfasts faster than we were served. On this particular morning, I think that they were very distracted by the fact that a wedding party of 10 had called to say that they were coming in. Then they weren’t, then they were. They did eventually show up. But by the time the wedding party showed we had already been there almost an hour, without any food. First we sat for 10 minutes without anyone offering us menus or something to drink. I finally had to flag someone down who told me it was actually the other waitresses table but that she would go ahead and take care of us. I asked if I could please have a cup of coffee. I was told that it was brewing and that I would have to wait! Okay, it came. But our food didn’t. My coffee was gone thirty minutes ago, no food and no one offered any more coffee let alone an explanation for the length of time that had passed. Again, I had to flag her down and ask for some more coffee. Again, I was told that they were out and that I would have to wait for it to brew. After the coffee had brewed she came and refilled my cup and brought another so that I would have two cups of coffee in front of me. I found that to be a bit«in your face» Like here you go, you demanding customer, here’s your stinkin’ coffee! But I say why can’t you keep on top of a customer’s cup and keep it full and hot. This way it got cold. The food took so long that we were just about to throw a few bucks on the table for the coffee and leave when our food finally arrived. The food is of good portion size and fine. They are well known for their potatoes and they are pretty good but honestly there are plenty of places that do good potatoes. I had the Italian sausage and mozzarella omelette this time and last time the spinach omelette. They were both fine but the cheese could have been more evenly distributed. My friend had the gourmet french toast and found it to be ordinary. While I really like to support small independent local establishments I think that I am done with this one.

My favorite little breakfast place. Small restaurant that can be crowded on weekends, but the owner/chef cooks everything himself so the quality is outstanding. Highly recommend the Italian frittata and the Italian sausage egg sandwich. «Mike’s» potatoes are very good.

Amy will call you honey, or sweetie and it’s meant with the best of intentions… she really does think you’re honey or sweetie. The omlettes are terrific, mine was filled with ham-off-the-bone. Nice and fluffy accompanied by hot sauce, and hot coffee. The potatoes that accompany the eggs were crispy and delicious, and the place, while small, is bright and charming. I’ve been back a number of times… try the pancakes… with or without bananas. The French toast(on French bread) sounds better than it is… the French bread kinda fights you… but still tasty. I give it five stars, not because the food was the very best in the world, although it was good… but because Amy makes you feel at home, and that’s worth it’s weight in gold.

Servings are huge. I ordered omelet which was decent. The French toast were really well down. Lady who served us was very nice the whole time. Definitely made us feel welcomed. I took one star off because I found a little thread in my omelet. Seemed liked a thread from a flour bag or something. Everything else was great. The place is a little pricy then a regular breakfast place.

Gourmet breakfast that is incredible but there is a for sale sign on the front window so I dont want to get too hooked on the place if they change owners. Great tasting, creative breakfast food. The portions are huge. We ordered a short stack of pancakes, the fratatta and the sausage patty and had enough left over for breakfast the next morning. for 2 people

A great little bistro-y café! Random chance landed our group here for lunch and it was a delightful surprise. Pros: — great menu: sandwiches, paninis, a nice-looking burger, great salad selections leaning toward the«with goat cheese crumbles» end of the spectrum, soup du jour(homemade French onion was today’s) — friendly service — hometown feel — affordable prices Cons: — unassuming strip mall location — weirdish name
