Lunch time and the server apologizes to tell me they’re short staffed and there will be a significant delay in service but can’t tell me long it will take. There wasn’t even a crowd! It’s a fast food joint! I left. Lame. Terrible customer service.

The service at this location is slow or, in some cases, absent. The last few times we’ve been here over the last year it’s gotten worse. Today we had to leave because our table was forgotten. No one came to our table to take our drink orders for 15 minutes.

Very disappointed in the overall experience. We got seated rather quickly but then we waited for 15 mins before anybody even came to our table. The server was very nice and apologized over and over again for being the only person there to cover the entire dining room. The food finally came out after another long wait, due to our server having to seat people, take orders, clean tables, serve the food, and cash people out. The food was alright for steak and shake. The place good use a good cleaning. Probably because the 1 server has to do everthing. May give it one more try before giving up on it

I haven’t been to a Steak & Shake for a while and I was very disappointed. We got seated quickly, but to a table with dirty seats. Our server, Yolanda, was great, friendly and fast but seemed to be managing way more than her share. She was trying to manage the hostess role, the cash register, her tables and sadly, begging for food to be cooked. The kitchen staff was horrible. All the servers were waiting on food and one take-out patron actually walked into the kitchen angry because they’d been waiting 30 minutes. The restrooms were passable, but grimy and the overall experience was very unpleasant. The food(when it finally arrived) was good, hot and what we expected. Even so, we won’t be back.

We had been visiting this location since ’03 and it USED to be a good Steak N Shake. Man, has that changed. Two months ago we decided to pop in for lunch on a Sunday. It was horribly understaffed and after waiting 20 minutes after ordering and not even receiving our water, we walked out. Tonight my sons requested it, so we decided to give it one more shot. Big mistake. Insanely slow, numerous dirty tables. Our server was very nice and super apologetic about the ridiculous wait, but that doesn’t remotely make up for this soul sucking slow service. Once our 3 dinners came out, 2 were wrong. Does Steak N Shake even have district management? Do any of these people ever visit this establishment??? Pathetic

Sure, it’s unhealthy, greasy, and not the greatest burger. But it’s stake ‘n shake, I’m not expecting top notch cuisine. I just want to hit the drive through for a quick burger when I’m heading home late and don’t want to cook. HOWEVER, The last time I went, a manager was working the drive through.(Heavy set man with dark hair.) He was so rude to me it was unbelievable. When I pulled up, He repeated the total, took my money, then reached out and slapped the change in my hand without so much as a «thank you». After that, I waited for 8 minutes.(watching the clock) He never came to the window again to say there was a wait or to apologize for the time it was taking. He just opened the window after 8 minutes and handed the bag to me. He offered no apology or «Thank you», he just slammed the window shut. When I say he shut the window in my face, it’s no exaggeration. I was about to speak to him and couldn’t get it out before it was shut! At this point, I would have left, but what I was trying to tell him was that he forgot my drink. So, I waited there for another 2 minutes or so before he came back to the window. I had to knock to get his attention. He was obviously exasperated about me knocking on the window(But what could I do? I wanted my beverage!) and had attitude with me when he opened it back up. «What do you need?!» I told him he forgot my Iced Tea and he just slammed it shut again and got my tea. Then he opened the window, shoved it into my hands(some came out on my hands) and slammed the window shut again. It was everything I had not to go back in and cause a scene. But I’m not that kind of person. I just decided that was the end of my patronage. I have been treated poorly and my orders have been wrong in the past, but this was the worst experience yet. I don’t ask for a lot. I’m not a hard customer to deal with, but at least 50% of the time, My orders have been given to me wrong. I’ve paid for two sandwiches and driven all the way home to find I only have one in the bag. I’ve gotten the wrong drink, I’ve been given my burgers and my fries have been forgotten. And now this? I will not be back and I encourage anyone who wants steak ‘n shake(which is normally decent enough food) to go to another location.

Worst steak and shake I have ever been to. Walked in, waited 15 minutes to be seated after watching the servers fuck around. Then waited another 10 minutes to be waited on. Never happened, so we ended up leaving. Management will be getting a call.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I was in here about a month ago and the place was pretty empty. Figured I’d be served fast… I wasn’t. I would have walked out however my3 year old would be pissed that he didn’t get to eat. Went to pay and waited 5 minutes, no one came to the register so I laid the money on the counter. A few weeks later I was in the area with the same 3 year old and he wanted to «go shopping at steak and shake» so I took him because the place was empty. Bad idea. We get in and sit down. 10 minutes later we order our drinks.10 minutes after that we get those drinks and order food. The manager come out about 15 minutes later to tell me that my chicken fingers were burnt and that they were cooking more. The manger goes to walk away and my son is now yelling«Mac and cheese» so I ask for the rest of the tables food which took another 5 minutes. I had to wait another 5 minutes for the chicken fingers. Went to pay after eating and no one would wait on me. I threw the money on the counter and the guy behind me started laughing. At least 5 families had walked out while I was eating. I won’t be back!(Don’t ask why I just wrote this long review… this place however makes me really upset!) I’ve found no where else in Hilliard this bad!

Believe all the poor reviews you read. Short on staff, numerous tables still needing to be cleared. I witnessed 5 tables get up leave without ever being served. I’m not sure if there was a manager on duty. If there was, he/she has the worst people skills of all time. Every staff member appeared visibly uninterested in having to work at this place. I can’t believe this location is still open given how poorly it’s operated.

Wow, the poor reviews by everyone are spot on. Please save yourself the experience of walking in, feeling uncomfortable, seeing unclean and possibly unsanitary tables and chairs, and feeling like you’ve made a terrible mistake! After sitting for a couple minutes, taking in the surroundings and hearing from my wife the bathroom is disgusting we left in a hurry. Can’t imagine the food would make up for everything else.

This place sucks. Period. The place was gross and there were dirty plates and glasses on virtually every table from the previous customers on them still from god knows when. When we walked in the waitresses gave us(group of 4) a dirty look. Then it took them another 5 minutes to seat us all the while we were literally just staring at them. What terrible customer service. The girl said«I don’t know where to sit them.» Well if you cleaned your tables instead of standing there talking to each other then maybe you’d have clean tables to seat us. Oh, and before we could sit down we had to stand there while another waitress could clean out booth for us before we could sit down. Like really? That’s just gross. Then our actual waitress, who looked like she was on drugs, kept forgetting who ordered what. It’s your job to remember who got what. We never got refill on our drinks. Terrible place. Will NEVER go back to this place.

I frequent this place fairly often, and my only complaint is that they are usually short on staff, or the staff doesn’t seem to pay attention to the customers. I’ve walked in and had to wait nearly five minutes before anyone will come over and take me to my seat. The other thing I notice is that the tables are very slow to get cleared and cleaned. I’ve walked in there and nearly every booth will be cluttered with the previous customer’s plates and glasses. Not sure why that is. The food is good, and it usually comes fairly quickly. They just need more staff, or staff that pays attention more. Other than that, it is a nice place to eat.

It shouldn’t be that difficult to complete an order when your the only customer at 2AM on a Wednesday. I asked for frisco sauce on the side and he repeated«frisco on the side?» I said yes, the bottom line is I didnt get my frisco. I love frisco!!! Thousand island or not. The service in general was average at best and the only guy working was not very personable. The steak n shake off feder and hilliard rome is spectacular.

So here’s what happened on my last horrible visit to this place. My girlfriend and I walked in and waited several minutes before being taken to a table, there were only a couple tables occupied other than ours. Though waitresses walked past us often and seemed to be doing very little, it took at least 15 minute before a waitress finally approached our table. We ordered and waited another 5 minutes before being brought water. After we had wasted over 30 minutes here we left, never receiving our milkshakes or food. The restaurant was dirty and we weren’t the only people who walked out during our stay. I wont be returning to this particular Steak and Shake again.

The worst service I’ve ever had. The server zoned out while taking my order, wrote only a portion of it after admitting to not listening to me, and gave me a completely different plate from what I or anyone at my table orders. When he came out with our food, he got me something completely different from what I had asked for. He also disappeared.

We walked in and were seated after standing awkwardly at the door for 10 minutes. We just got off a bar shift and we were quite hungry. We were seated at a table and the sever informed us she was the only server; however, after looking around she only had 3 tables including us. Being bartenders were pretty understanding. It took her 25 minutes to come to our table… Before coming to us she took a Togo order for a woman who ordered 20 cheeseburgers. Fabulous right? We ordered Milkshakes… It’s going on 30 minutes and we haven’t received them yet… Has not refilled waters. No food … We will most definitely never return to this location. The server made a joke how people walk out on her all the time because of things like this… Let’s just say we were 2 seconds away from it.

Was seated immediately and restaurant was less than half full… not busy. Our waitress came over to finally take our order about 15 mins later. My boyfriend’s chili came out first. Ordered a milkshake to share. Got it after chili. Then we got out meals later. I wanted a single burger but with the veggie melt toppings on it. She read it back to me 2 times and she understood. She came back and asked again to make sure the cooks understood my request. Took 20 more mins to get our food and mine was not made as a burger but as a melt with toast. This location is slow so make sure you have the time to spend. Boyfriend spoke to manager about situation and she comped our meals. Wasn’t our intention at all but they need to know the kitchen is taking too long and not paying attention to what the customers are ordering.

By my experience this place is rated too low. Don’t get me wrong, it is not super superb, stop here on a night out, wild party in your mouth joint; it is a standard Steak N Shake. But I never had a problem here; in fact, the service during my couple visits was good. On the off chance you had never been to Steak N Shake, they serve steak burgers – it seems like a hamburger really – a slim cut patty and grilled-steam taste, fries that are a bit lacking in spirit, and true milky milkshakes that are to die for in their fatty, high caloried, deliciousness. S&S was once the big new hit of the fast food scene, ushering in the concept of casual fast food, before Chipotle redesgned the concept with ethnic-fusion cool, leaving S&S in the eat-out backwaters. I though still dig it every once and awhile. With a $ 4.99 meal, it is a easy lunch for a, to steal a great phrase from the Unilocal newsletter, a imperfect paleo eater like myself. This one is like all the rest. The fake Happy Days set-up, the over shinny terrazzo flooring, the 1950s caps worn my the employees, the exterresial hieroglyphic sign above the checkout counter.(what the hell does that say!) One complaint, why can’t they bring out the shake with the meal. I have it almost gone before I eat.(I guess I should ask to have it served together!)
