DISCLAIMER: I’m not about to review some fancy-ass joint that has a prix-fixe menu. This review has nothing to do with places like Voodoo Doughnut, Pok Pok, Powell’s Bookstore or Foster Burger. You CANNOT order a pork belly cuban sandwich here. You cannot get a sour beer here. They do not serve Stumptown coffee. No phở, truffles or ramen. NONEOFTHAT. So, if you’ve come to this review looking for one of those«staples», you will be sorely disappointed. Far West Fibers Hillsboro is a simple, easy, FREE recycling center south of Century High School on the east end of Hillsboro. You pull into the parking lot and it’s literally WYSIWYG. There are metal bins shaped in a «U». Load paper, plastic, cardboard, glass and various metals in ‘em until yer heart’s content. That’s it. The end. It is what it is. Man, I hate that phrase. They don’t, however, accept styrofoam. Incidentally, it’s maddeningly difficult to find places that recycle styrofoam. Correspondingly, I’m not going to share with you the fate that befell my recent batch of styrofoam… I think this place would be more accurately labeled the«Hillsboro Recycling Center». A search for either will lead you to the same place, although the results returned for Far West Fibers will be a little more succinct. SO, you can take your duck confit and SHOVEIT! I’ll take me some Hillsboro Recycling Center any day.
