Extremely busy but the food was great. Continual restocking, and fresh salad at all times. The waitstaff was incredibly friendly even though they where running at top speed to keep tables and areas clean. The restaurant has been slightly updated. For all the rush and crowd the place was very clean.

The manager who is there during lunch is always smiling and friendly. The food is alright nothing amazing about but they do offer a good variety. The resaurant is always clean when we are there. The only thing I will say is the price is a little high.

The restaurant is fairly decent. It is always busy. I happen to prefer the salad bar, even thought it is a regular run of the mill salad bar. The pizzas are good, but they change so quickly as they are eaten so fast. The desserts are not the best, and neither is the other hot foods. The best part of the hot food section is the potato rounds, Improvements could be made to the hot food options and the desserts. The staff are great, and are very accommodating. A nice place to go and get filled up.

Nice ambience. Great service. The choices are very limited for vegetarian. All you can eat buffet was good. Pizzas were ok. Salads vegetables looked little bit stale. Not a lot for vegetarians.

I ate here for the first time today around 4:30pm. The buffet looked small but seemed to have a decent variety, so we stayed. My first complaint is that practically nothing was labeled, so a lot of guessing went into my choosing. I would never bring a friend with any sort of allergy here. Also, the drink area is in an awkward location and feels claustrophobic and almost dirty. The pizza was alright, and I’d suggest the barbecue chicken or pesto artichoke pizzas. Many of them weren’t out and had to be requested to be made. I didn’t dare try the macaroni and cheese because it looked dangerously bright yellow. Some sort of mystery(unlabeled) sweet & sour chicken was available. I had a bite and decided to try a salad. The spinach was near it’s expiration date but still something I would’ve eaten if it were in my own fridge. Good selection of toppings from eggs, cucumbers, beets, croutons, etc. and a good variety of salad dressings too. The«grill» had a few options… One being fish tacos(not bad but nothing special). The steak was pretty good, and could be topped with mushrooms or a Parmesan artichoke mix. My steak took incredibly longer than the person I ordered with, which was unusual because his was Medium-Well and mine was Medium-Rare, but it was still very yummy. I recommend both the mushroom and the artichoke options. The broccoli cheddar soup was very watery and lacked any cheese flavor. For desserts they were very limited and offered soft serve ice cream, pudding, jello, and some sad looking cookies… The only appetizing dessert that was actually quite delicious was the cinnamon roll. Warm and gooey and amazing! Safe to say I’ll never be eating here again unless it’s the only place open. But at least I tried.

It seems like people either love this place or hate it? I am careful what I eat, and you can go to the place and eat sensibly. I have the salad bar and soup-especially if it is chicken noodle. I like the pasta(not cheese stuff) and the green beans in garlic. The pizza is usually very good if you like that style of pizza which I do. I work out at the gym, when foot is not broken. and occasionally stop by after for lunch. The same manager has been there for years and his staff is a friendly as can be. For what it is I think they do a very good job!

Stopped in on a very hungry whim. With a sign that promised ‘grill, pizza, salads, bakery’…i was under the impression that this is your typical American fare. I was wrong, it’s a tiny(and kinda scary looking) buffet. However, my stomach refused to walk out the door… and being that they were still offering the lunch special at $ 7.99, I figured what could go wrong. I can also write another Unilocal review… the things I do for you people. Plus: it’s a big/airy restaurant with a friendly staff. Minus: Had some salad(spinach was on its last leg), some pasta(I think it was mac-n-cheese…it was yellow), artichoke pizza that had some flavor, and«pineapple upside-down cake». The cake was pretty good, as long as you didn’t care to taste pineapples. Oh… and a oatmeal cookie, that was a standout. Guess you know how the old adage goes — you get what you pay for.

The salad bar, hot food, soups, desserts were A+ in quality. The fried chicken or the pizza wasn’t greasy. Great healthy choices as well to choose from. Great prices and don’t forget to try the strawberry lemonade!

Great for a buffet. Pizza is always good here. Everything else is pretty solid too. I think they need to offer more types of meat though. And they need to stop over cooking the pork and chicken. Its quite dry at times too. It could be better. But not bad at all. Great service too.

Was helping a friend move and decided to make some time for a quick lunch. The guys decided to stop by Izzy’s here, which I reluctantly agreed to, since it’s been over 10 years since I’ve been to one, and never to this place in Hillsboro. Well, on the positives, we were greeted cordially when we entered, and as others have stated, the salad bar is decent, but as for me, I’m not an herbivore. The chicken was okay, but stay way the hell away from the bite sized chicken tenders, for they are not tender what-so-freak’n-ever! From the hot bar, the corn seemed like it came from Costco, the mashed potatoes from Costco in a box, and the gravy, from some packet. I had coffee for my drink choice, and was never offered a refill… not once, and when I asked, never got one in the time I was there. Though I’m not a pizza fan, I’d rather freezer burned pizza over that doughy mess. The Kicker was the end of the meal when we got the bill. No change was returned when we paid cash… WTF??? Oh well, I’m not a person to usually complain about something like this, but $ 4.00+ tip for each of us is way beyond what I would have given, even if the food and service(which the only service was getting my 1 cup of coffee) were respectable. Overall Rating: 25% Food: 2⁄5(and that’s for the salad bar) Service: 2⁄5(and that’s for the initial greeter) Price: 2⁄5(and that’s for the salad bar) Not giving us change and being your lucky day with a huge undeserved tip(−1÷5) PS, I think the only reason that I went to Izzy’s in Newberg, OR, 10+ years ago, was because my late grandmother liked that place, because it was close to her home, and she paid.

I have to agree with Katie C on her review. In fact, I feel like I could have written that word for word. The meat that was served as «special» was indeed sparse and it was WAY overcooked and lifeless. The desserts were mostly horrible, the pasta bloated and overcooked. By far the green beans were the best things there. The service was horrific.

When we walked in it felt like we were entering a senior center after bed time. There were only two or three other couples here. The salad bar was really the only part of the buffet that was worth eating, but really how hard is it to screw up salad?! My husband and daughter had the«made to order» salmon and ribs which they said were good, but it took 20 minutes to het ywo tiny ribs and a little serving of salmon. I felt like for $ 12 each(no drink included) there should have been way more food to choose from. I thought Izzys was a pizza place?! There were three tiny pizzas all with pineapple on them at the buffet. Wth? Dessert?! Gross! Their lava cake was like hocky pucks and the chocolate syrup for ice cream seemed to be watered down. The employees were wonderful. Its a bummer this place doesn’t have better food and more options. I’d take my family here often.

I’m gluten-free, so I was expecting to stick to the salad bar when I went to Izzy’s with coworkers for lunch today. After getting an awesome salad of spinach, veggies and fruit, I checked out the hot bar in case there was anything I could eat. I asked about gluten-free options when the manager walked by, and he said they would make me any pizza gluten-free at no extra charge.(This impressed me, as most places charge at least $ 2 extra for gluten-free — if they even offer it.) I was stoked and ordered the pesto artichoke gluten-free. Within 10 minutes the manager came to our table and let me have as many slices as I wanted before taking the rest to the pizza bar. He also asked if there were any other pizzas I wanted gluten-free. Not only was the manager awesome, but at least three different waiters came to our table to take away plates and refill drinks. I was definitely impressed by the service. By the way, the pizza tasted great! Artichokes, sun dried tomatoes and pesto. Yum. I’d also recommend the green beans and mashed potatoes. The dessert bar had several options, including ice cream, tapioca and pudding for gluten-free folk. If I wasn’t gluten-free, I definitely would have dived into the cookies! My coworkers and I were skeptical walking in, but the place definitely great service and food. There’s food for people wanting the indulgent pizza and fried chicken, and healthier options for dietary restrictions and healthy salads. All of us left satisfied!

I have no idea why we seem to forget how not awesome this place is and end up going back there about once a year. It was nearby and we were starving I guess. The inside is being remodeled so it’s kind of a mess and looks like parts are missing. The service was good this time, which isn’t always the case. Salad bar is pretty good, hot food bar was hit and miss(who screws up Mac and cheese?) and the pizza bar was TINY! Like 4 pizzas tiny. At lease the thin crust mushroom was good, though it ran out fast and wasn’t replaced. They are now doing made to order ribs(didn’t try) and fried fish(actually pretty good), which was a nice surprise. The dessert section is a no go for me because of food allergies, but everything is in miniature so keep that in mind.

We live in the area and have always seen this place and on Saturday july 6th2013 we decided to give it a try. dinner buffet for 2 adults with beverage 27 dollars and change. only thing i can say that was positive was the salad bar was fresh. the hot food was something to say wasnt edible. some of the buffet practices were not up to par either. As far as the food goes well the choice was not that great and wasnt very tasty either. we tried some of the small pizza but i couldnt get my teeth through it. crust was tough as wood. definately neglecting the food rotation here. the chicken was luke wrm and stale. i actually wonder how long it had been there. Saw a server place new sauted mushrooms on top of old mushrooms. at this point all my guessing had been answered as to the poor quality of food. there is no proper rotation of food on the buffet. they are just loading new food on top of old food.(can you say food poisoning) I can. grabbed the family and left. yes we paid our bill made our complaints. we will never return to this place again.

It’s been more than a year since I was there, so things might have changed, but, this place had the worst food among the buffet places I’ve been to(oh there was another lousy Chinese buffet at the west end of Hillsboro, but besides that.). Not cheap either. As S H. says, the salad bar was descent. But everything else wasn’t. Unfortunately I don’t remember the detail(except that the pizza was pretty bad). Just bad. I would go back only if the food was free.

I am not a little girl. $ 8 for an all-you-can-eat lunch will get my attention anytime. Thankfully, Izzy’s got my attention and followed up with not a bad meal for the price. The only food I had that I would NOT get again is the mac and cheese. It was not very cheesy, and I like my mac cheesy(see also: I am not a little girl.) Well, I would also NOT get the ice cream again(that’s not a food, that’s a dessert. They don’t count.)…it had a weird, milky but not creamy gritty texture. Totally unlike any ice cream I’ve had before, and not in a good way. The baked beans are AWESOME, sweet and savory with lots of bacon. I don’t really even care about baked beans but these were soooo very good. My other favorite was the garlic cheese bread… in fact I’d come back for that, and for the tapioca pudding. Good mashed potatoes too. I also liked that the pizza was cut into pretty small slices, so you can try some and not waste a whole lot if it isn’t your favorite. Excellent. Great looking salad bar, though I was in the mood for good old fashioned carbs today. Service was a little hit and miss on our visit, but always friendly. The interior was clean, if a bit dated. So, 3 ½ stars, but I’ll bump up a ½ rather than down a half because Ummm. Buffet.

I took my wife and kids to Izzy’s last night at my Son’s request. That was the first, and I dare say the last time that we will eat there. It cost $ 55.00 with a tip for myself, my spouse, my teenage son, and our three smaller kiddies. No drinks, we all got water. To be fair, the salad bar was actually pretty good, as was the clam chowder. It went down hill fast after that. Although the place was clean and the folks were nice, the pizza bar was terrible, which is amazing considering that is Izzy’s specialty. There were no Italian dishes at the pizza bar, just various pizza offerings, all on thick crust with tons of nasty sauce, and very little cheese. The«HOT» bar was equally bad. They actually managed to screw up the mac and cheese. The noodles were so overcooked that they were mushy. They had a chicken and rice dish with the über cheepo brown«fryer» chicken meat. A main focus of the hot bar was potatoes and gravy, which is fine to have, but that’s not exactly a main course. Moving to the Dessert bar … the ice cream was soft-serve but had a poor texture, and well, let it suffice to say that you can skip dessert. The kids seemed satisfied, but my wife and I actually went out to eat later that night because all we were really able to stomach was the salad bar. It cost us $ 12.00 for each«adult» over 12yo, which does not include a drink. Kids are $ 0.60 per year of age. Kids under 3 are free. I implore you, unless your goal is to get a ton of very poor quality food for a fixed $ 12.00 price, go somewhere else. This place is truly terrible.

We came back today to find that many things had changed with the store. The interior has been remodeled and a giant grill has been installed in the store with a chef running it. We were able to check off some food choices like Pork Kabobs, Teriyaki Chicken, or Steak and the chef went right to work. After we ordered they brought it to our table. The steak was amazing; above and beyond what you would expect from an $ 11 buffet. There’s also a lot of other new dishes like lemon chicken with rice, fried potatoes, grilled veggies, and the bread sticks got an upgrade. I’m not sure what brought about the big change, but it’s definitely a welcome one. If you haven’t been to Izzy’s in the last couple months I would recommend you give them a second chance.

I’ve only eaten at this location a few times and only because i was driving by, had a coupon or extremely hungry and a buffet sounded appealing. The place is a pizza buffet with salad bar and some other hot foods like chicken. It’s pretty average and somewhat clean. Their last health inspection on 5÷23÷08 gave a score of 88 out of 100. The pizza buffet choices are limited. They do have 2 thin crust gourmet type choices. The salad bar is average, but does have broccoli and leaf lettuce. The hot food portion was ok. The price was pretty average and they do have a coupon in the local coupon clipper for a dollar off. Parking is not a problem. I’ll go back if i’m real hungry and have a coupon.
