The results are in amigo. Wow what can I say? I haven’t tried this joint even though its right by my place and boy was I wrong. Great prices. Awesome food the«benro or bento» box was amazing and the atmosphere and location are low key and comfortable which I like. Its right in across from wall Mart so can’t miss it. So what’s left to ponder? Go now, I would go back tomorrow but im off to St. Barts to trip on acid and bathe with spider monkeys for a few days. Peace god bless brah

Typical Japanese spot with a variety of bento boxes, some udon, noodle plates(mostly yakisoba choices). I think the highlight of Mr. Bento is the many different rice bowls to choose from. You have the option of brown rice +$ 1. I was excited to see that they offer a combination plate with a smaller sized rice bowl and a bowl of noodles. I ordered the spicy chicken udon and tempura rice bowl. Evenly priced lunch,(a little more than &15) but I like smaller portions and variety rather than a big ass bowl of one thing. When it came out… I was so surprised. TWOBIGASSBOWLS. Portions are very generous. VERYVERY generous. The spicy pork bowl was delicious. Bowl of rice(your choice of white/brown). Topped with: Fresh mixed seasoned greens. Dressed with they’re tasty sauce. The combination of the flavors worked really well together. I had plenty to take with me to-go to feed me… possibly could last me two meals lol. My friend had the same issue; she barely dented her order. If I ever come back, I’ll probably just choose one bowl to share between two people. Mr. Bento is now my GO-TO Bento Spot.

I love the Tanasbourne location(for the burgers) and decided to try this location. I had the Spicy Pork Bento and it was everything I expected! The ingredients were fresh, the portions were large and I left stuffed and happy. No matter what Bento you get, they will load up your tray with an assortment of good stuff. I love places like this because you can get something different from the norm and feel confident that whatever you try will be a winner.

This has become our go to spot for lunch, I think we hit it at least once a week. The chicken bento box is great, it’s the perfect amount of food for lunch. The food is consistent and has been good every time we have gone in.

Holy guacamole guys this place is the bomb! When I walked in(10 min before closing) I got the most genuinely nice service. Got some recommendations and even made small talk! Also the food is fresh and delish. I will be back!

Once again best bento box for great price. fresh, hot, and polite service… each option is great… only down side is the bubble tea which is powered version not homemade Thai tea. Worth a visit…

We went to Mr Bento Burger first, checked Unilocal, went to Mr Bento Teriyaki and had a great lunch. The bento pictures posted accurately resembled the delicious bento we were served. I had the fried chicken which was a deep fried Panky battered thin chicken breast with the usual sides and a dipping sauce. I like my cucumber more vinegary, but my doesn’t and she loved the cucumbers. The salad was crisp and light with crunchy noodle croutons and the citrus flavored dressing. I like the crunchy tempura shrimp but I’m a sucker for anything fried. The gyozas too. I usually finish my food but I had leftovers to take home. We’re just visiting my son in Hillsboro, but I will be back next time we are in town.

Not so impressed… Decided to try Mr. Bento yesterday evening on a whim and it wasn’t all that great. We walked in right around 6:15 and grabbed a menu that was hanging. The place had a few customers but not many. The bento box pricing is by meat choice. For variety, we got chicken teriyaki bento for $ 10.00 and salmon teriyaki bento for $ 12.00. Each bento came with a salad, cucumber salad, 2 pot stickers, 2 shrimp tempuras w/dipping sauce and rice. It was about 10 minutes or so before our food was brought out. As soon as our food showed up, I started to eat as I was hungry. From eating my box and trying my husbands we have found that the food isn’t all that great and heres why: –Salmon: way too much sauce layered on top. The salmon is okay I have had better. –Chicken: it was decent but nothing memorable and wasn’t cut proportionally –Salad: dressing was very skimpy –Shrimp tempura: batter is too thick — I’ve had better in Maui. –Potstickers: nothing special(reminds me of frozen ones) –Cucumber salad: just okay The service was blah. No greeting and for sure no one asked how the food was. Shortly after we were done eating, we brought our boxes/trash near the exit. There are 3 gray bins for silverware/dishes and a huge trash for garbage. The display of food waste and dirty dishes is so unattractive to us. There’s a small history about Mr. Bento. The original owner opened it and from what I was told he did great. The food was awesome as well as service. The owner than decided to open a Mr. Bento gourmet burger and just recently Mr. Bento is under new management. I believe the original owner is no longer running Mr. Bento only the Mr. Bento gourmet burger(which I love). Overall, I was disappointed in the service and food. I guess I was expecting too much from reviews and friends who have tried it. Needless to say, I will not be returning at all. I wished I tried it before the transition. Do yourself a favor and don’t waste money at Mr. Bento. You are better off at the Mr. Bento gourmet burger.

I had a feeling that once Mr. Bento moved on to his new Restaurant, Mr. Bento Burger that this place would slide and I was not wrong about it. We stopped by for lunch today around 1:30 ish. There was one couple outside eating and a family waiting for their ToGo order and myself and my husband. There was not a clean table in the place, so we picked a table and cleaned it ourselves with our bottled water and napkins. In fact, not one table was touched, cleaned or otherwise the entire hour we were there and there are 4 freaking employees. Cleanliness is obviously not important to them any longer. The food was OK, my Tempura Shrimp was lukewarm and not fresh. The salad no longer has any goodies on it, just lettuce and some crunchy noodle things,(no craisins or seeds) the dressing even seems different, not citrusy at all. The Potstickers are the same, out of a bag. I did not even bother to finish my lunch, I was just over it. Oddly, they are playing Z100 on the radio and have Fishing on the TV. I am pretty much done with these folks and I am sad to say it. One would imagine with 4 people behind the counter the Restaurant would be cleaner and the service would be better. I can go up the street a mile to Hero Sushi and get Miso Soup with my very fresh and tasty Bento for the same money. Bye Bye Mr. Bento, I hope your Owner reads his Unilocal reviews.

For $ 10 of spicy pork benton, I got a ton of food! Tempura was perfectly fried. Spicy pork was well marinated and cooked. The salad is also very good. Milk tea is 4⁄5 stars. Overall a great place in the neighborhood whether for a quick meal or going out to eat. Totally coming back and also trying their burger place down the street.

Looking for lunch after picking up my car from the mechanic, I stumbled across Mr. Bento, and I’m really glad I did. I had the tempera shrimp bento and it was almost more food than I could eat in one sitting. The shrimps were crispy and yummy, the salad greens very fresh, the rice perfectly done. Excellent bento! Will definitely be going back here.

Yummy food and I always love a Bento plate. Reminds me of being younger and having all of my food seperated on those plates at school in the hot lunch line .only adult style! The food here is good and I was pleased with the service, even when it is in a fast food environment, the service was still nice.

My Unilocal peeps have pointed me in the right direction once again! Thank goodness we came upon these reviews, otherwise I doubt I would have ever found this inconspicuous little place on my own. Mr. Bento is a tiny shop off Cornelius Pass in Hillsboro. In fact when I parked here I was almost sure I was at the wrong place. The menu is concise and right to the point. They even have pictures on a board showing you the options. I’ve had the chicken teriyaki bento and the fried chicken bento. The presentation is adorable. Compartmentalized food for the win! The bento contains the entrée you chose, steamed rice, salad, diced cucumbers, two tempura shrimp and two dumplings. Yeah, it’s a lot of food. The food was all good and the service was super friendly. Yes, it’s one of those bus your own table kind of places that seem to be abundant in PDX. but the owner was here one of the times and after chatting with us said he’d take care of our table. This is definitely a place I look forward to frequenting again. (I’m this close to giving it five stars, but there’s been a couple of times when we’ve wanted to come here and they’re closed on Sundays. Bummer.)

It’s under new management and staff. The quality of food is going down. The salad does not taste the same. It used to be my favorite component of the bento box, but now I don’t even care for it. On two different occasions, it even tasted like the greens were either old or not washed well. This place used to be my favorite place, and I would always recommend it all the time. Now, I don’t even mention it anymore. because I don’t want to lose my foodie cred. Lol Message to new management: Don’t sacrifice quality of ingredients in order to increase profits. You will start to lose loyal customers.

I have eaten here several times now. It is one of my favorite bento/teriyaki restaurants. The ambiance is nice and has an Asian feel to it. The cashier is nice and helpful, and the menu is easy to read and clear and concise. I usually have the spicy chicken bento box here. You can see pictures of their bento boxes on the Unilocal Page for the business. The bento was spicy but not overall so. It came with a salad, rice, shrimps tempura and 2 pot stickers. I love the presentation of how the items are laid out and the separate of each item. The food is flavorful and the portions are big. The food here is flavorful, comes in big portions and the staff friendly. I will be continuing to eat here.

Since my kid’s dad had a heart attack on Wednesday, I have fed him salads three days in a row(my effort to apologize for his clogged artery). I know: 1) I’m not REALLY responsible 2) He is not a rabbit. But he will eat lettuce and veggies if theres«good stuff“on it. Did I mention hes been living on frozen pizza since our split? Sigh. Anyway. The first day was a good old chef type salad with a ton of veggies and chicken from the soup place. It was huge and fresh. The balsamic dressing was delicious. The second day was a Mediterranean style salad with chicken schwarma on top from the Lebanese place. It was tasty. Feta and tomatoes galore. Both of those salads were very good. But Mr. Bento’s salad was freakishly terrific. It’s that goddamn dressing. I’m sorry to swear. But it’s effing delicious! Bright and citrussy not too sweet but like springtime. It’s downright amazing. And it comes nicely mixed into fresh greens, cucumbers, carrot and apple slivers… a few little crispy noodles and your choice of tender but not overcooked salmon or charred but not burnt chicken. Its a very good salad. Heart patient approved. Fyi their bentos and other offerings are good, too. But once I identified the salad and had that dressing… well I got stuck there. If you put it in a bathtub I’d… …go get a straw! and maybe some empty bottles! Ha you thought I’d say bathe in it, didnt you? That’d be a sad sad waste of tremendous dressing. If you’re feeling at all rabbity, dont you dare hesitate. Go get this salad.
