«Oh. Shit.» — My colleagues when they found out it wasn’t a Bento restaurant. «Awww shiiiiieet.» All of us(upon eating our burgers). I’ve been punked before, but at least this was a pleasant surprise! In fact, I’m sure Unilocalers would be up in arms with cries of false advertising if this gem of a place didn’t serve such delectable burgers and salmon. Consider yourselves lucky, dear friends. These are probably the best burgers in the burblands of Hillsboro(I didn’t say Portland, shhhh). You can glean most of the relevant details from the 1137286 other reviews, so I’ll use alliterations to sum up my meal experience: Buns — Brioche, buttery Beef — Sweet, savory Onion — Pickled, pleasing(Author’s note: Beautifully contrasts the sweet, charbroiled beef) Lettuce — Arugula… alright Sides — Potstickers, potatoes, plus salad!(Alliterations are hard.) I’ll have to make a return trip and try the kimchi burger(self-explanatory) and Godzilla(with egg and pineapple). Mr. Bento and his mother pay close attention to the fine details of our dining experience. You can see their imprints in the restaurant’s food prep, cooking, design, and service. It’s quite beautiful, really. Minor Cons: The restaurant’s layout is a backwards mullet: Business transactions in the back, burger party in front… and lets not forget that lack of burger signage, ya know? Reluctant one-star deduction for those.

Very meticulous in their cooking approach. I ordered the Salmon Steak Burger and the flavor was explosive, in a good way! Pickled onions, lettuce, tasty bun, and a filet of salmon cooked impeccably. Top it off with delicious crispy, fresh, pot stickers with a tasty sauce and this place is a winner! I’ll definitely be returning, well worth the $ 13! Keep up the good work!

The location of this place is easy to miss, but definitely shouldn’t be, because the food & service are great! We tried the ½lb beef burger($ 10) and the salmon steak burger($ 13). The beef burger tasted like it had some kind of marinade on it(semi-sweet, similar to bulgogi sauce), which made it extra tasty. Both came with a side salad topped with a yummy asian dressing & four potstickers. I also ordered a milk tea($ 4) & was a little disappointed to hear that they didn’t have any boba available that evening(just jelly), but the tea was still tasty. John, the owner, came up to our table to ask how the food was. Mr. Bento has friendly service and a cozy, casual atmosphere. Will be going back for sure!

Delicious, had the Bento Burger(½ pound might I add) the rice was nice and soft the pot stickers killed it and the salad was outstanding! Mom had the salmon burger and love it as well. The employee at the cashier was very nice and came around later to ask if we liked the food? Ummm, yeah! Stop by, you won’t regret it :)

I came here with my family for the first time and we were a bit lost at first. We went to the back to order and we ended up getting one beef bento on rice, one salmon bento on rice, and a cheese(burger) bento. The meat was superb, it wasn’t too done and a bit pink inside. The quality of the ingredients was very fresh and good. I ordered a taro bubble tea and it was very creamy(in a good way) however I wasn’t used to the flavor unfortunately. Nevertheless, the owner and main chef was extremely nice to us. He checked in on us and was very engaging and kind. That made us all very happy. We’ll be around here again. Here’s some cons I noticed/experienced here: first this place isn’t very spacious so when it comes noonish-2PM, it’s very crowded and you have little room to stand and order food. Next, the salad has a very citrus-y flavor(which was pretty good imo) but you may or may not enjoy that. Lastly, my brother and little nephew had a stomach ache a few hours after we ate there(possibly because of the tiny bit of rawness inside the beef). Thus, concludes why one star was docked.

Writing this as I eat my first meal here(dinner). I wanted something different and just looking at the Unilocal pictures I knew I would like it. I ordered a Beef Bento after a quick conversation with the owner. My problem with burgers lately has been the buns and the quality of beef. Bento does very well in both areas as they offer kobe patties over rice with side salad and include potstickers, nice! Everything was fresh, tasted great and was made to order. Very reasonable prices. I’m sure to return when in the area for lunch or dinner.

Totally impressed! Burgers with an Asian flare! It was delicious! Had pot stickers and salad as sides instead of the regular fries. Fries are available if that’s what you want. Service was friendly and fast. Nice atmosphere and delicious food, Great place!

The owner and chef, John, is a super friendly Tokyo-transplant obsessed with quality. He serves burgers(there’s a variety of protein sources to choose from) on brioche buns or as a patty/filet on top of a bed of rice. It may be hard to imagine burgers, perhaps, in context of an Asian eatery but, trust me, it’s all so freaking delicious and makes perfect culinary sense when you’re here. And, as I learned from John, what he serves is closer to what people actually eat in Japan. Under the chef’s watchful eye the restaurant makes all of their beef patties onsite every morning to prepare for the day. This level of quality is a rarity for restaurants in the burbs(mostly franchises purchasing third-party ingredients). The beef burgers are phenomenal: beef is cooked perfectly and the brioche buns are freshly divine. The salmon filet over rice entrée is wonderful as well. Great bubble tea. I can’t recommend this place enough. It is a true gem in Hillsboro. The 12 – 1 lunch hour rush here is no joke. You’ve been warned.

An easy, no brainer 5 star salute. this is a worthy successor to that other eatery in this rapidly growing an deliriously successful Mr Bento Franchise Empire(patent pending). Rumor has it that Fox’s next breakout hit TV series will be at least loosely based on an affable Asian American family operation opening shop in the mean streets of Hillsboro, OR. At least part of the secret of their success? SPOILERALERT: the conspicuous placement of 2 savory, jumbo panko shrimp on EVERY menu item. MR Bento Burger, FTW! My recommendation: the Godzilla burger, put it to sweet salad music — – the salmon also is most yum-tastic.

Tucked in a super corporate plaza, with a design that makes you think this is their 100th location, Mr. Bento Burger is the exact opposite. Their burger with cheese, pot stickers and salad was excellent. I did order it medium rare and it had zero trace of pink, but it was still super juicy and melted in my mouth. The Asian-ness that this burger has works. Although I wouldn’t put it above the great burgers in Portland– for being in Hillsboro, where your other options are Mcdonalds and 5 guys– this burger is clearly done right. I give it 4 stars because that’s what it is. What they could do better to make them compete against the big players. I wish they would change the bread and get a freshly baked brioche because their bread tasted and felt like it came out of a bag. They didn’t toast the bread enough; my bun was a bit too moist. Lastly, Put the veggies below the meat; the lettuce will protect the bun.

Its a Japanese Bento style burger place. I was intrigued just by its description. Food is very nice and freshly made. I was very happy with my experience. Service was fast. It was very nicely garnished. I believe every dish comes with side of salad or rolls. I tried the salad and it was really fresh. I have tried rice burger. It was a good chunk of beef patty with rice and teriyaki style sauce. I was pleasantly surprised to see a good chunk of meat rather than ground meat patty. My friend had a salmon burger which also looked very fresh. I will probably visit this place over weekend once again. I felt a smaller portion at a lower price could also attract more patron who are looking for a good place for lunch in the neighborhood.

I’m definitely in Asian food mode. No, I don’t know why. Well…maybe it’s my San Francisco roots. Sometimes they generate umami longings. Lust even. Ish. This played out in the form of sushi for lunch today, then Mr. Bento Burger for dinner. ‘Course we eschewed burgers and ordered salmon three ways tonight: on a salad, on a bun, and over rice.(Three ways because we have a temporary houseguest). Did I mention my daughter’s salmon fixation? Sometimes I just go with it. I called it in. The man was nice. He was friendly when I got there. I had to wait 10 – 15 more minutes for the food even though I was right on time but I could see our salmon on the grill so I forgave them. It was $ 42.50 for our three meals and a side of fries. Plus the money I stuffed in the tip jar. Not inexpensive. But they appear to use quality ingredients. This is not fast food. My salad was lovely. Same good dressing as their other restaurant. Perfect avocado. Salmon was tender and not overcooked. Houseguest and Princess were happy with their meals, I think both would have liked a touch more terriyaki on their fish. This was a good dinner choice for us though I think. Tuesdays are my longest day and it was nice to pick up something everyone likes that isn’t too bad for us. We will go again.

I probably would have never stopped in or paid any attention to this place until one night i was searching for hamburgers on Unilocal. On the second page of listings, Mr. Bento popped up and i thought that’s weird. I clicked on it and checked out the pictures and it looked good and the reviews were great. Long story short i came in and they were super friendly and I had a burger on rice and it came with a large delicious salad and potstickers. The burger was great, restaurant quality not a frozen patty or other sad looking piece of meat. It was $ 9.50 and way too much food. I will probably just get the burger and salad next time. They also have a salmon burger which looks like a piece of salmon, not groundup fish. I totally agree with the other reviews that suggest they put the word burger on their signage. It’s on the door, but that may be it. They also have bubble tea, fries, and a few other items. The burger was marinated and chargrilled and came with pickled onions and some pickled radish(radish was on the side).

As good as the other Mr. Bento. They don’t do a traditional bento box. Instead they’ve a platter of Japanese«burger» — slab of meat/fish/tempura on white rice, salad(with delicious, sweet dressing) and pot stickers(chicken or pork). I had the salmon burger, which was just perfectly grilled and had the right amount of teriyaki sauce on it. Very good quality of the salmon as well. Overall, very hearty lunch. It’s a bit pricey, the salmon burger is $ 13. They also serve traditional American hamburgers.

I was already a fan of Mr. Bento’s Bento near baseline. And after months of starring at the«coming soon» sign — ITSFINALLYHERE! and its closer to my work. I guess I thought it was going to be exactly like the bento joint so i was surprised when I saw burgers were the only choices there. I already picked out my bento in my head so i hesitated… A nice gentleman there assured me and explained to me about the rice burger is basically like the bento. So i thought what the heck, give it a try. I went with the salmon burger with rice. With price tag of $ 13, i thought it’s pretty pricey for lunch. But after I got my meal… it’s all worth it. It was a very thick cut fillet so that explained the $ 13. Salad, pickled onion on top. Delicious and did not disappoint!
