I live in Texas; but I spent the weekend of the 27th of March in Portland. Now I have visited Portland twice over the past few months; it was on my second trip that I discovered this wine bar; but wasn’t able to visit. My last trip there I made it a point to stop in. I am so happy that I did! I thoroughly enjoyed my self. The owner poured me a perfect glass of wine; I found the perfect cigar to go along with it. The weather that evening was absolutely wonderful. It was an amazing evening and I really truly enjoyed myself. I was lucky enough to meet a couple of the locals and started a conversation with a couple of them and they made me feel so welcome and invited. Being a stranger to the city it was nice to see people who were so open. I guarantee on my next visit to Portland OR Hillsboro I will be definitely stopping in this place once again to enjoy a glass of wine a cigar and wonderful conversation.

Great little neighborhood shop. Perfect sidewalk patio for having a glass(or three) with a friend.

The guy who works here was snooty and rude… Also made a rude comment about my choice of wine as if it wasn’t good enough! Talked down to me as well… That is not a good way to make money lol

Seems like a pretty chill place to relax. have a glass of wine… and smoke a stoggie, if that’s your thing. I have only been in here once, so far, but my husband has been by here a zillion times and says typically there are always people here enjoying a glass of wine in the evenings, as there were a few doing during my mid day visit. It was a laid back quiet atmosphere… cozy in it’s size, though not necessarily in its furnishings. A couple of small tables and small chairs are both indoors and outdoors for customers to sit and relax a little. The shop is small, so I don’t know if it is even a possibility, but seating could be made to be a little more comfortable, plush and inviting if ever improvements are looked into. For me, I was there for a special order. I had called around looking for a specific wine only to be told by other stores that it wasn’t carried. No offer to order it was given. SO when I called Renaissance and got the same answer, that it wasn’t in stock, I was saddened again, but only momentarily. The owner(?) offered to order it, right there. Little did I know that he was making an order for his next wine shipment that day and as luck would have it, he could get my special requested wine in a couple of days. Elated, I ordered two bottles. Two days later, I picked up my order and was again pleased to hear it was a couple dollars less per bottle than what I was quoted over the phone. So, I walked away a very happy customer. My husband and I will be back in the future. And if I have any special order requests I will most definitely call here first.

I would give a better review as the owners are usually pretty friendly. There is one who is always right on and ready to help. The other guy makes me feel like I am an inconvenience, so I haven’t been there in some time. I attempted to special order a specific wine and was told we’ll call you when it gets in. I went in about 3 weeks after that and they had no idea what I was talking about. I went in again and asked about ordering it and was told«it’ll be here next Friday, we always order from that vendor». I went in a few days after that Friday and was told it was never ordered. Needless to say I attempted 3 times too many to order one specific type of wine and haven’t been back since. New Seasons one block over is good for that!!! It isn’t a bad neighborhood spot to go drink wine and hang out. Just don’t special order from them and you’ll be just fine!!! I’ll go back… at some point.

When it comes to wine selection, you’ve gotta have someone you trust. Over the years, I’ve come to sincerely trust Mike’s(Renaissance owner) palate, without fail. Anything on their shelf is trustworthy, and he and his staff’s feedback and input is unpretentious and genuine. The tastings on Friday night are always poppin’, and the wine flights throughout the week are always worth a spin. This is a landmark wine source in the Portland metro area.

One of the best places to get a glass. Mike and Daniel are always helpful and if I don’t know what I’m wanting, they are always there with the perfect suggestions.

Really??? I just wanted to let you guys know I live right down the street and you guys must be doing that awesome at your spot that you can afford not to greet a customer when they walk in the door… Really??? I walked in this afternoon around 3:30 while both owners(I assume) were behind the bar making small talk. I walked around for at least 7 or 8 minutes before walking out, NOT once did either of you acknowledge me not one word. The body language alone made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcomed, like I was intruding. All I wanted was a glass of wine so I could do some work on my computer. Don’t worry you won’t ever have to make me feel that way again. I WON“T BEBACK! So If your looking for arrogance and pretentiousness then this is the spot for you. and if your looking for just a bottle of wine then I recommend New Season it’s right next door and has alot more choices and better prices and they will be glad to have you as a customer.

Renaissance is one of my favorite places to spend an afternoon in Hillsboro. It’s the perfect place for you to enjoy a glass of wine and have a nice cigar. They have white/red flights or you can purchase a bottle of wine to try. The staff is very knowledgeable and will recommend something that’ll fit your tastes and budget. If wine isn’t your thing, they also have a selection of beer and sparkling wine/champagne. If you prefer a little snack with your wine, they also sell crackers, cheese and cured meat plates. If you want more food, you’re allowed to go to New Seasons across the street and bring back some snacks to go with your wine. I’ve also seen waitresses from Yuki’s(also across the street) deliver sushi to customers here! The staff here is so accommodating and nice, not pretentious at all. On Fridays starting at 5pm, they have wine tastings that feature a certain region or winery. It’s a great opportunity to broaden your horizon and try an upwards of 6 different wines for only 7 dollars. If you fall in love with a particular wine, you can purchase a bottle. The wines they feature during these tasting events are very affordable and usually range from 10 to 50 dollars a bottle.

I’m not an expert in wine or cigars but if you ever need your questions to be answered or you would like to find a rare, expensive bottle of wine, I recommend this place. What’s nice about Renaissance is that they offer wine-tasting flights for $ 8 for Reds(3 glasses). I’m not quite sure how much it would be for Whites. And you can also get a flight mixture of the Reds & Whites. Along with your wine tasting they also offer some snacks. Unfortunately they ran out of some of their items so I recommend going to New Seasons nearby and grabbing a couple snacks to pair with your wine as you hang out and savor the moment. I like how Renaissance represents many selections from local Oregon wineries to other countries from Italy, France and Australia to name a few. They have cabinets full of different types of cigars(flavored to regular ones) and items to use for cigar smoking. Overall, I would definitely be back to Renaissance to enjoy a glass or a bottle with my gals!

A great little shop located in the Orenco station area. There is beer in the fridge, cigars on the wall and of course wine on both walls. There is a lot i can say but I’ll get right to the point on why i like this place. The guy who was helping me seemed to share similar ideas with me on wine. Am i the authority on wine? of course not but it’s nice to know that the person behind the counter doesn’t believe that the most expensive wine is the best choice or even best tasting wine. The other great things, they have Shaffer Merlot and silver oak cab, two wines that i do enjoy and i don’t see often. What they don’t carry they are willing to try to find for you. Looking for wine? when i am, I’m going here!

This precious gem has never failed me and is one of my favorite stops for a great bottle of wine with lovely selections from Oregon to France. I have gone here a couple times and found the perfect wine for what I needed. The first time I visited, the woman who helped me recommended a great, medium-priced Chardonnay that I ended up loving. I was on my way to the gym so they offered to chill it while I was gone and have it ready to go when I could swing back by to pick it up. The second time I came back with my honey-lamb I was immediately greeted with a smile by the same woman who helped me before. I really need to remember her name because she hit the nail on the head with her next recommendation of a great Pinto Noir by Six Vineyards. They also have a selection of cigars which I have not yet ventured into, as I don’t have much experience with them. The complete lack of pretentiousness is another reason I love going to this shop. I am dressed pretty casually whenever I go and it’s never a problem. They are always having great little social events and tastings for a small fee($ 7-$ 10 or so), which I’ve been meaning to attend. It is tucked away behind a Starbucks at Orenco Station, you should check it out if you’re in the area.
