I discovered this place about a week ago and have been here 4 times now. I absolutely love it! I typically get the miso grilled chicken taco rice. I love the flavor of the chicken! I still need to try other items on the menu because I hear great things. It’s too bad they are moving to a new location in SE Portland about 45 minutes away. Sad to see this place go! The two that work here are very nice people. I’ll try to make time to visit their new location next year.

If you’re in Hillsboro during lunch, definitely stop at here. The food is flavorful, simple and fresh. Menu is straight-forward(curry soup or rice dish), with veg and gf options clearly marked. Prices are very reasonable. If I worked in Hillsboro every day, I would be a regular. I usually get the vegetarian curry soup, so good.

This hole-in-the-wall is a gem of a find. My bf is working in a cold-ass town in Hokkaido, and he always raves about the delicious Sapporo-style soup curry that can warm him up when he’s chilled to the bone. He also claims that you can’t find it in America. But lo and behold, I found it right in my hometown! The soup curry at Richi’s will warm your soul. Seriously. The spices and veggies harmonize perfectly with the brown rice. I found the level 3 spice(out of 5) was the right amount, and the plenty portion size to be very adequate and filling. He says the proper way to eat soup curry is to have a spoon of soup, then a spoon of rice, then a spoon of soup, etc. The food is very affordable, and the friendly staff send it out very quick so it’s a good to-go option. The place is tiny(honestly, what authentic Japanese place ISN’T tiny?) but don’t be afraid to just plop down and enjoy your soup curry like I did while it’s still hot. Definitely, definitely worth the trip out to downtown Hillsboro!

A little hidden gem in Downtown Hillsboro, Fast friendly service with quality food. This is not your typical Japanese food that many expect when your thinking of Japanese, this is Japanese comfort food and it’s a tasty twist to what many would expect.

Really great place to grab lunch. I tried their curry and it was full of flavor and vegetables. I would love to come back and try the other things on the menus. It’s a cute little small place in downtown Hillsboro.

Since I work in downtown Hillsboro, my lunch options are limited. As such, I was eager to try Richi’s and boy am I glad that I did! Unlike my other lunch options near my place of employment, I plan on visiting Richi’s outside of my usual work hours. They are just that good. True, there are just four items on the menu, but don’t let that deter you. Each option is unique and they are all delicious. Excellent taste and good value for your money. The only thing negative I can think to say is that the restaurant itself is small. Curry soup is a must try!

Date Visited: Monday and Tuesday 3⁄24 and 3⁄25 On the 24th, a beautiful afternoon, I strolled around downtown Hillsboro with no real goal in mind. I came across Richi’s and saw their sandwich board regarding the Curry Soup. Hmmm… not sure about that. I saw a father and son go inside and figured I would just look inside. It’s a small little place with a friendly staff. The Hearty Veggie bowl description looked really interesting, so I figured I would give it a try. There are two sizes to choose from. I think the small is called a Mini or something. The larger size it called Plenty. I ordered the Plenty, which I believe was $ 6.95. When I was handed the box with napkin and fork, I was aware of its weight. It’s one solid box of food. I walked around a little, looking for a nice place to see what I had ordered and settled down on a bench. My first bite was delicious! The food looked so appetizing and healthy that I simply couldn’t find any fault with the food. I greedily wolfed it down and considered it the best lunch I had had in a long time. It was so good that I couldn’t stop thinking about it the rest of the day in night. I just had to get it again on the 25th. It was just as good. I resisted going 5 days in a row, but I do plan on getting it once next week and maybe even trying their soup. I hope this little hidden gem sticks around. Beware that it’s only open Monday — Friday from 11 or 11:30 to 2:00 or 2:30. It’s a shame because I’d love to come back on the weekend!

I love Japanese curry and this was the first time I had Sapporo style soup curry. Curry was very flavorful and served with tons of veggies including potatoes, kabocha, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and green beans. You can choose your spice level and I tried their highest level and it was not extremely spicy but nice enough to have a kick. The dish itself is vegetarian but you can add chicken or cheese to it too. They serve it with a side of brown rice which I ended putting into the soup curry. Yummy! Great little place and next time I’m in the downtown area I’d stop by again and probably try their Hearty Veggie dish that has lots of good reviews. Too bad they’re only open for lunch on weekdays otherwise I’d probably go more often.

I have had the Hearty Veggie twice now and I love it. They are fast, clean and friendly. It’s nice to have truly healthy take-out in Hillsboro!

Great food and the curry soup helped my cold. Will come back and eat again! The only Japanese restaurant owned by Japanese and not Koreans :)

When I was traveling in Sapporo, Japan I ate the curry soup. Finally I found a restaurant that serves Sapporo style curry soup that tastes good. Clean restaurant with an open kitchen so you can see how they cook. One bad thing their only open for lunch.
