So the last 2 times we’ve ordered from here the quality definitely has dropped. We ordered a few of their specialty rolls and noticed there was a ton more sushi rice than there was filling… Both times… Actually there was barely any filling and what we got was basically a rice roll. I have the pictures on my phone which I will post later. So sad this use to be our«Go to» sushi spot… Not anymore. Mio Sushi just down the street is consistently delicious and fresh!

I have had lunch here several times and never disappointed. The menu is great if you want something other than sushi, but why bother? The sushi is fresh and very tasty– thinking about this I may need to go have it soon! Service is good and it is easy to get food quickly during lunch and get back before my boss notices that I was gone 45 min!

I had a craving for a good veggie sushi roll. I looked at the online menu, and saw that there was a veggie sushi roll, but I was unable to see what the ingredients of the veggie roll, I just assumed that if there were ingredients that wasn’t agreeable to a vegan diet, I could just ask that they omit it. Well, you know what they say about assuming! I asked the waiter which of the sushi rolls were vegan or could be veganized, and his response was none. Or I could request it, but it would be more expensive. Well, I ended up getting the avocado roll, it was fresh and good, but boring and didn’t satisfy my craving. This place is probably a good place if you are not vegan. But I can’t recommend it if you are.

Updating my review. I hate to do this, but I can’t remember being more disappointed with a dining experience than I was tonight. My update is centered around what used to be one of my all-time favorite sushi dishes: The Nuclear Roll. This roll is clearly labeled as the spiciest thing on the menu. It even has«x-tra x-tra x-tra hot» in its description(or words to that effect). It’s also called«Nuclear»! Over the years, I’ve ordered it often because I WANT it to melt my face off. Tonight I learned that they cut WAY back on the heat. It’s still labeled the same way, but our waiter said that it made somebody almost pass out, so they had to take out an entire ghost pepper’s worth of heat. That news alone makes me furious. If you order the hottest thing on the menu(with THREE x-tras!), you have no business complaining about how hot it is. It means you got in over your head and learned that your tolerance is not infinite. But DAMNIT it’s no better now than any other place that claims to have«hot» food and predictably falls short. That sin is bad enough to warrant a review update, particularly since I made a fuss about how I liked it so much in my initial review. But tonight’s experience was a double-shot of awful. This roll is supposed to have mint, both tucked away in the roll and with some crispy fried pieces on top for a tiny bit of crunch. Only this time, I didn’t get mint. I got… Sorry, I’m getting choked up and having difficulty completing the sentence. I got… cilantro. F’ing cilantro. The flavor so many of us hate so thoroughly that we despise the word itself. The flavor that makes good people do bad things. The flavor that… OK, you get my point. Turns out the sushi chef let some other dude make the roll. He claimed that he knew how to make it, and was perhaps trying to take on more responsibility. Apparently the sushi chef was pretty pissed off at the guy and was berating him enough that our waiter didn’t want to be back by the sushi bar. They made it(somewhat) right and took the roll off the bill… but damnit, I can still taste it. I’m so irritated that the dish I loved the most did me so wrong. I’ll probably update this review again down the road to remove the raw emotion, but I need my dissatisfaction to be known. F’ing cilantro.

Sushi was just ok. However the deteriorating laminated butchers block they serve the sushi on is unappetizing and not food safe :-( Please ditch the blocks and serve on plates.

The sushi boats are awesome! Happy hour is long and has a good selection. The servers aren’t always the most pleasant but I enjoy this place.

What a great happy hour find. Two sushi rolls, large Sake, and vegetable tempura for $ 22 only. Wassabi is a lovely space devided into dining room and lounge/bar. They also have a small plant filled patio as well. I sat in the lounge so I could try the Happy Hour menu. The spicy scallop roll and spicy tuna rolls were very fresh and well prepared. The rice surrounding the roll was perfect too. Actually they had a 2 roll special on their regular menu for $ 10, so I didn’t do happy hour on them. I did happy hour on the local Momofuku Silver Sake or $ 7. It was delish. The vegetable tempura was a generous portion as well and a steal at $ 5 for Happy Hour. My server was a pro and the hostess was friendly as well. Looking forward to returning soon for more fresh eats.

We stopped into this place because we wanted to have dinner at Nice Rice and then we found out they closed down. We happened to come in during happy hour and were able to get some really good sushi for $ 4 a roll and had some delicious pad Thai. They also have AWESOME calamari that is in big strips. I would definitely recommend this place.

The happy hour here is awesome! You can have it in the main dining room which is great if you have kids and, best of all, it runs until 6:45 so you don’t have to rush after work too. Prices are reasonable too. All in all, if you are a parent looking for a great place to eat that won’t break the bank, this is your spot!

I think I remember why I haven’t been here in so long. Ordered a few things from the happy hour menu, including alcohol. When asked if I could box up some leftovers to go was told no food can be taken out. What? You mean you’d rather throw away food then let us take it home. Our waiter, Flash, said, yes, that’s owners policy. I asked to speak with a manager and with a sneaky grin he said they don’t have managers and that they don’t need them because they all manage themselves. What sickens me is when a company would rather throw food away then feed people. Too bad. Wonder if the owner even cares how much money he’ll lose with crazy greedy policies like this.

Huh? I don’t get this Sushi Restaurant. Are you trying to be a sushi restaurant or are you trying to be an Asian Fusion??? I have been spoiled with tons of great sushi place in San Francisco in every corner! So coming to Wasabi I was expecting a grand experience but leaving the restaurant with yet another«meh» feeling. I ordered Dynamite roll the portion was large which is good but it was not spicy and not sweet enough. The tempura was meh and it was partially burnt(how did you burnt a tempura?) and they still presented it to me, I didn’t bother to tell the waiter because I was rushing to go to an appointment. The female Asian waiter was rude to my friend he asked a question about the HH menu and she wasn’t patient enough to answer his question rushing to leave our booth. I can’t wait to discover a good restaurant here in Portland but so far every restaurant I go is a disappointment, I will continue my search.

Came in and was greeted by a hostess that seemed to be annoyed but we proceeded to sit down at the table. Once our waitress came to the table she didn’t even give us a few minutes to look over the drinks so we sent her away and by the time we were ready she was talking it up with the hostess. We than ordered off of their happy hour menu(you have to buy a drink $ 2 or more) and our food came out rather quickly. We did separate checks mine was $ 32.50 and my friends was $ 22.50 which was really good because we got full. I would recommend. I hope they work on their attitudes, other than that great quality food!

We really enjoyed it! The atmosphere is great, very relaxing. The waitstaff is very friendly and nice but not smothering. The food was fantastic! The hibachi chicken and steak was absolutely wonderful and a great portion size too. The sushi was super fresh, they cater to special orders, great quality and the prices were really great as well! We will definitely be back soon for dinner and to try their happy hour menu!

What a great place for Sushi! So many choices. We started off with a great happy hour menu, edamame & miso were just right. The fruitful flight of Sake was delicious. Well worth it and great sizes. Between the 3 couples we had 12 rolls on 3 huge boats, we definitely needed a bigger table. The top choices of rolls were St. Helens, Nuclear, B-52, Lotus & Super Heavenly. We also got the black dragon, thunder, panda, rainbow, king of the ocean & fantastic. We highly recommend this place!

This place is baffling. I can’t decide if I like it. A coworker and I met here for lunch today. We only saw a couple other parties while we were there. Not very busy for noon on a Monday. Its oddly formal. and almost too fancy. Our server was good. She did tell my friend upon arrival to put her stainless steel water bottle away saying«no outside beverages».It was sticking out of her bag and my friend was thinking of asking them to fill it for later– she wasn’t planning on drinking out of it but complied. Our waters and sodas were refilled often so we didn’t get thirsty. And so weren’t compelled to use the water bottle. Both of us got the two sushi rolls for $ 9 deal and added a nigiri. Diet cokes and miso too. My Philly roll was kind of mushy(rice), my spicy tuna roll was not spicy, and my unagi was not super delicious. The miso was just ok. I think this was pretty average sushi. My friend wasn’t super excited either. We both like Syun, Yuki, and Mio. If I go again Ill try a salad. I saw one go by. It looked good. And they have good lemon drops. I didn’t have one today maybe another time. I wish their sushi was outstanding… or at least that things on the menu that say«spicy» would actually BE spicy. Sigh. Our sushi, miso soup, two nigiri plates, and two sodas were $ 33.
