food isn’t terrible but I would say the best thing this place has going for it is it’s great craft beer selection

Place was great. Then Big Heads took over and the head is way bigger than the quality. Servers and barkeeps work hard but you can not fix stupid. Barkeep do not appear experienced and for sure do not have common sense. There are better places.

Menu was promising, food wasn’t bad(wasn’t all that good either, but OK). Issue was service. I’ve never left a bad review of a restaurant before ever, and I spent a lot of time as a waiter in my younger days, but this might have been the worst service I’ve ever had. It was labor day, and there was a skeleton crew, so I was ready to be sympathetic. 1 bartender, 1 waiter/busboy/food runner, and 1 guy in the kitchen(so I was told). There were 6 occupied tables including my fiancé and I, plus a few people at the bar. We were asked for drinks in a reasonable amount of time, and our waters were delivered timely. Then I ordered a beer that was listed on the menu. 20 mins later, still no beer, then I was told they actually didn’t have that one… No biggie, I ordered something else. 10 mins later it finally came(maybe 15). My fiancé’s French onion soup tasted like beef bullion and water(salt water), but no issue getting it taken off the check. Salad came out at the same time, but no silverware. Another 5 – 10 mins later I had to get up and actually ask for it. Probably another 15 mins for my burger and her quesadilla to come out. At this point there were only 4 tables left(including us), and a few bar patrons who came in after us were finishing their burgers/food. We were there over 1 ½ hours for 1 beer, 2 waters, a soup/salad app, 1 burger and 1 quesadilla. Oh, and the water refill requested when the jalapeño heavy quesadilla arrived took longer than eating the food, awesome! Just felt like we didn’t matter at all. As I said, I cut a lot of slack for a skeleton crew because I know what its like, but that was a little ridiculous. I grade the waiter on what he can control(water, silverware, attentiveness), and that was honestly lacking. Kind of bummed because we were up front that it was our first time there and looking forward to it, but I guess they weren’t concerned in getting our repeat business… I will be equally concerned with giving it(especially with Applebee’s and Rafferty’s right next door).

The negative reviews for this bar should be ignored. Those people obviously have never worked a service job a day in their lives. I use to come to this bar directly after working a waitering shift and the staff was super friendly. After a few visits the bartenders remembered my orders down to the last fry. The food is great and the bar space is very comfortable. This bar also has a karaōke night every Tuesday night which is always fun to listen to. There is also a 7ft pool table which is always fun as well.

What happened to this place? Used to go here a lot before the name change and you got good quality bar food and reasonably priced beer. The food now is HORRENDOUS. Last two trips here was my experience: 1)ordered a burger… found hair in it. Asked if I wanted another burger. When I said«no thank you id prefer to not have another burger, I’ll pick something else» the look I got from the bartender(I was eating at the bar) was the look of death. Proceeded to order a wrap, and it was about as mediocre a wrap as humanly possible.(Note this was just as the name changed) 2)last trip here a week ago. Stop in and there is a «one man band» type guy playing horrific covers at an UNGODLY volume. His voice sounded like nails on a chalkboard, and I couldn’t hear my buddy who was in the stool next to me. Ps this was midweek… why is there a musician? There was maybe 5 people there and no one was getting the hint that this guy was horrendous. I witnessed to patrons putting napkins in their ears hoping that would send a message… it didn’t. Proceeded to order a «chicken cheesesteak» and sweet potato fries. Asked for American cheese and peppers/onions on the«chicken cheesesteak». After a 35 minute wait, food was served, but It wasn’t a chicken cheese steak. It was a hoagie roll with a tiny strip of chicken in it(like 1 chicken finger cut up finely)…with nothing in it whatsoever. No cheese, peppers, onions. I proceeded to rip off all of the bread that wasn’t covering chicken to show how little meat was in here… what was left was about 1.5−2inches of roll. The sweet potato fries were also raw. Left everything on the plate barely touched. Bartender comes by 20mins later(where was she for 20mins btw???) and notice the food. Says«was there something wrong»…I explained all of the above. She says«let me get you another one». I said«please don’t, we have to leave now anyway». Here is the punchline… STILLCHARGEDFORTHESANDWICH!!! So wanted a nice neighborhood bar to hang out in and grab good bar food, this isn’t it. If they don’t get their act together, this place will die. Your food sucks and so does your service.

Absolutely horrible! My whole family finished their meals 20 minutes before my wife’s salad arrived. We actually boxed it up to go home. My son’s fries were cold and the salad I had the lettuce wasn’t washed at all and the sand was in the bottom of the plate. Service could have been the worst I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

I think this bar is improving but it still sucks each time I come here. I usually go on a Friday night. Some of the bartenders are rude. Their drinks are always very limited. And I’ve caught them making my drink wrong in the past. Correct me if I’m wrong but shouldn’t you know how to make EVERY drink if you’re an employee here? And if you’re out of an ingredient to make a drink, I’d like you to give me a heads up(no pun intended) rather than just handing me a half-assed pitiful looking drink hoping that I just won’t notice.

Waste of time and money. Waitress took beer order. Took 10 minutes for her to come and tell us they were out of that. Second beer order placed. Another 10 minutes and yes, sorry, they were out of that. Another 5 minutes for the drink to arrive. Soup was okay but very small portion. Cajun chicken fingers dry and overcooked. Had to wait for almost hour for a burger and then she brought the wrong burger. This place is terrible.

Went for March Madness waiter Tom was great! Seemed kind of empty and food was ok. Got charged for something we didn’t buy but we got refunded and bartender put up a big stink about watching NCAA men’s tournament we got the run around 4 times then he «did us a favor» and changed it to the tourney. Bottom line decent experience. But not a you should defiantly go bar.

I rarely leave a one star review but every time I have come here, both quality of service and food have been subpar. I have given them several chances since they’ve open with my boyfriend and with friends. The service has been awful. There are no words to describe my feelings other than the bar has hired incompetent people to pour beer from a tap, and really, is that hard to do? I ordered a beer and it appeared to come from a dirty tap line. They didn’t even taste it themselves. That isn’t good service. The food is disgusting. Before this place changed owners, it was fantastic. I could eat here without worrying about feeling nauseous the next day(don’t worry not food poisoning, just greasy and too heavy). Go anywhere else in Hillsborough or Manville, just not here.

Downgrade. Major downgrade. The last few visits have been awful. I was going to leave two stars but my friend is protesting and demanding I leave one star. I hate doing that to a non-corporate business but my last couple experiences here have been awful. I cannot allow any of you to come here and I don’t care how many delicious crafts they have on tap. 1) Their bar manager who is so «concerned» with customer service and experience has been missing my last few visits so I couldn’t express my concerns directly. WHEREAREYOU? You certainly aren’t supervising your bartenders 2) the second to last time I was here 4 bartenders were texting. One looked me dead in the eye when I wanted to order food and looked away. That’s not how you make and keep regulars. 3) Today service was better but a tap line was dirty. Bar tender didn’t verify herself or get the bar manager so others wouldn’t experience. She did take it off the tab but nooooooo. You don’t allow skunked beer to be served especially when your customer has drank the beer before. 4) food is terrible. Only edible things are quesidilla and crab fries. Don’t come here. Pass.

Big Heads in Hillsborough is a sports bar still getting it’s act together. After having been here a couple of times, I can say confidently that food isn’t their priority. They offer a smattering of bar food very little of which is memorable. The bar setup itself is done well with lots of space but they are still trying to figure out how to fill it with an assortment of random events. Service tends to be spurious with a staff that is not trained well and/or is not very experienced. I want to like Big Heads as the town could use a good neighborhood bar, but they are still trying to find themselves IMO.

The food has DRASTICALLY improved. It’s actually quite good. The Irish Nachos are a family favorite. Service needs major improvement, but I am happy that the place ha improved. The manager is extremely friendly and helpful. He also really cares about the place and is open to ALL feedback. I think if they get a few more staff members who want to hustle…, and hostesses that are more friendly, they can be a gold mine. The food is good. And the place is really really nice. Low point… Don’t let people smoke in front. The bar smells like smoke. They should have to go out back.

Not sure why somebody would buy that place but it doesnt seem like any significant changes have been made. Prices are average and it seems to be a hangout place for locals. If you’re looking for a fun environment on a Friday or Saturday night, do yourself a favor and go to Morristown.

Just plain awful. Went in last night with some friends. Service was slow because there was only one server that we could see. She had no knowledge of the menu and couldn’t answer our questions. My husband never got his soup and had to ask for it when his entrée came. One friend never got her fries until after everyone finished eating, and only because she asked. Another friend sent back her prime rib sandwich because it was disgusting. Manager offered to comp the sandwich or give a gift card. We chose to have it taken off the bill. We don’t plan to return.

SOME of the wait staff is completely inattentive. I’ve been here twice. The first time I went the bartender and I make eye contact twice and she she never asked me what I would like to drink. I waited for 20 minutes to see if 1 of the 2 people working would acknowledge me. I got frustrated and left. The 2nd time was a little bit better, but they messed up/mixed up our bar tabs! The only reason I would go is for karaōke.

Here’s the deal… My husband and I are regulars and we want to see this bar succeed in Hillsborough. They need to have a football Sunday special menu. You’re a sports bar, have some specials. Love Jenna. This place could be so much more.

Maybe it should only be three stars but I give them an extra star for having closed captions turned on for the flat screens. Stopped by for a quick lunch on a Saturday. Place was quiet, Our server was fine — stopped by regularly to check on us — plus the bill came out promptly at the end. Food came out of the kitchen fast. About thirty beers on tap — a nice selection. My wife went with a Sams seasonal which was cheap enough at $ 3.50. I went with a Carton Brewing IPA which was premium priced at $ 6.50. Both good choices. We split an order of onion rings to start — better than average — very hot — crispy — not as much onion as I would like. But I would order it again. My wife had a bacon cheeseburger, nicely cooked, side of regular fries were pretty good. She especially liked the seasoning on the fries. Very pleased. I had the buffalo chicken wrap with curly fries. Fries were excellent. The buffalo sauce was set on high; tasty but my eyes were watering. OK if you live or work locally; not worth a long drive. No idea what the crowd may be like on a weekend evening. Décor is a bit blah. Background music was something pop; not too loud. Lots of flat screens — with captions ON — nice.

Went on a Wed night to watch the Yankees at the bar. Was alone. Crowd cliquish and not very friendly. Quite frankly neither was the staff. Had Blue Moon pint, average cost, was hoping for a better value. Cheesesteak was good but fries not so good, a passable meal at best. Will reserve full judgement for a visit on a weekend night after 10pm when things might be happening, but cannot recommend this as a place to meet people or get a good happy hour value.

New owners but same terrible experience as Joey G’s — maybe even worse. Came in to watch the World Cup final and there were only 6 people in the entire place. Wow !! Bartender spent most of the time flirting with her boyfriend while other employees had nothing to do. So terrible I actually left to go next to Applebee’s. Pretty pathetic. Big Heads management should have cleaned house when they took over Joey G’s b/c it’s the same pathetic experience. Location has great promise but horrible service and below average food equal the same result.
