The Eno Gallery is truly inspirational. From the moment we walked in we felt welcome, and the store owners were incredibly friendly, along with their beautiful German Shepherd, who kept watch and greeted us as well. The art inside the building was well displayed and had a variety of styles. What we saw the day we were there had a bit of a steampunk flair to it with some of the bird metal sculptures that we looked at and admired. The paintings, pottery, and sculptures, were incredibly unique as well. We liked how everything was very open and that you could take your time looking around the well-lit room on the first floor. Although pricey, the artwork definitely was impressive, and the artists on display were showcased well. The gallery itself is in a great spot within the heart of Hillsborough, North Carolina. There is parking available via a large parking deck down the road by the Weaver Street Market, and there is also street side parking available via parallel parking. The gallery is just a short stroll away from restaurants and other beautiful historic shops in the area, and is well worth a stop in to browse around. We will definitely be back.

Eno Gallery has a nearly perfect setting for a gallery. It’s on the corner of two busy streets, is a taller building than it’s immediate neighbors, and has big windows that make you want to look inside. So I did. I saw a nice gallery, with the white walls and squeaky light colored wood floors. The first floor is a little crowded, with the paintings, pottery, glass work, small sculptures and miscellany. On the day I was there, a couple of the artists whose work is displayed were there for an open house, so maybe that’s why the area seemed cluttered. For me, the second floor is more interesting. The narrow stairs leading to it, open into a large room with minimalistic décor. The displays are the only decoration. It was more conducive to showing the art than the downstairs. It’s modern art, by many local people and a few nationally known artists. There’s a lot of mixed media pieces and sculptures, each interesting, but for me, more at home in a gallery than in my home. Still, it’s a compelling place to visit and a great place to perhaps meet the artists during the monthly open houses.
