I fell for the pictures online and Booked this«resort». Completely misleading. No elevators and AC considering the hot climate of hawaii. Rooms are stinky. Dim lights everywhere. Transparent curtains. Bugs. This place is spooky. Either they should renovate it. Or atleast reduce the prices. ***Staff was very good and helpful though.***

WOW! And not in a good way. This place is about as clean and modern as some third world country hostels! It wouldn’t be bad if the prices matched what you got, but this place is a DUMP considering what you’re paying. 1. Towels had dark brown crusts on it. Is it poop? Is it dirt? Who knows!!! 2. Bed had dirt, hair and other debris under the covers. Nasty grease and other«stains» on the sheets and pillows(I just slept on top of it all, wore my hoodie and pants, used my towel as a blanket. Wished I had a tarp to throw over it, actually) 3. Shower was filthy. Refused to risk the inevitable infection. I’d rather smell on my way home, thank you very much! 4. Lady at check-in counter? RUDE and acted like she was too busy to help. Sorry I interrupted you browsing on your phone, but you’re on the clock. Deal. 5. Cinder block construction, disgusting moldy smelling carpet all throughout the halls, pool was gross looking. I only needed a place to crash for a night at the very end of a great but exhausting vacation. That is the ONLY reason I didn’t leave. Elena’s Tip? GOANYWHEREELSE!

Small hotel, comfortable, clean, with fresh breezes blowing, located right on Reed’s Bay. The water was literally a stone’s throw away. Modest but I prefer this informal spot to the larger fancier hotels just down the road. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I have been very relaxed and comfortable here. I was worried I would need AC but with breezes coming off the bay and also through large louvered windows on the side, it was always pleasant during my stay. A kitchenette has also been useful with a small refrigerator w/nice size freezer, microwave, sink, dishes etc. Some rooms have lanais but my room has a little more space with a sofa and coffee table.

Basic, inexpensive little hotel on the bay. This is an older building that appears to be having some renovations done so it’s a bit rough around the edges. If you can look past this, this is a good value place. If you want waterfront on the cheap, try and get a bay front room so you can enjoy the view. We stayed in a bay front room, top floor on the corner which was perfect for us. There are 2 sliding glass doors to open up and get a nice cross breeze going, one which opened to our own private balcony. There are no smoking signs everywhere which we LOVED! No having to smell smoke wafting up while enjoying the balcony. We even saw sea turtles swimming in the water during our breakfast. The pros: on the water, full kitchen, bathroom sink is separate from toilet and shower, comfy bed(not too hard or too soft), 2 sliding doors to open, the view and sound of the waves crashing on the rocks right below you, a quick walk to a few parks and a few places to eat. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The cons: limited parking when hotel is full, no elevator, dated building but with a kitschy cute sign, no A/C but there was a fan in the room and we were a bit chilly with the windows open. The biggest con for me… no supplied coffee for the coffee maker! Oh! the horror of no morning caffeine!!! For the value, we would stay here again. If you want a fancy resort, this is not the place for you. If you want basic, clean and affordable, check this place out.

Great photographer but the hotel is a like a prison. Painted cinder blocks, dark dungy rooms, fighting off cockroaches while brushing your teeth. Nice kitchen area in the room but we were afraid to cook anything. The sheets are like 100 grit sandpaper. Cable system wasn’t bad. If you are looking for a cheap room that has a distinct odor with a nice bay view this is your place.

My wife and I were so pleased we stayed at Reeds Bay. They gave us a lovely corner room on the 3rd floor. We were greeted every morning with a lovely view of Hilo Bay. A very affordable room, Aloha from the staff, laundry facilities, a nice safe place to park our bikes AND kitchen facilities so I could prepare my wife a lovely meal. This is not a fancy place, but it was clean, a very pleasant room with a fabulous view and friendly, accommodating staff. Thank you Reeds Bay, you helped make our 28th just a little more magical.

This hotel is absolutely terrifying. How it got the five and four star ratings are beyond me. Between the seedy people that seem to reside here, the cinder block walls and the bathroom that smells like a urinal that hasn’t been cleaned in years, I’m completely regretting the decision to stay here for a night(thankfully only one.) I told my friend who we’re visiting here in Hilo where we were staying and she literally cringed. We weren’t expecting a resort but holy shit this is bad. No soap, shampoo or conditioner for guests, 2 dirty towels, and no air conditioning in a room that’s so horribly hot and humid. If you know what’s good for you, you’d stay away.

Great stay for the price. Decent service. Sure, the furniture and fixtures are a little dated and worn, but for $ 75 we got ocean view with two beds(a queen and a twin), a little kitchenette, and a decent bathroom. A bargain for the location. Not fancy or anything, but a solid place to stay, and it looks like they offer long term rates too.
