Great breakfast deal — panini sandwich(for vegetarians, they’ll do avocado and tomato substitution for the meat) and coffee for under $ 7. I expected island time service, and wouldn’t have minded waiting, since the café is cute and clean with a few tables inside and outside, but my order ready in less than 5 minutes and was delicious.

Moved to Hilo from O’ahu about a week ago and really like this place! This is EXACTLY what O’ahu is lacking: mom-n-pop coffee shops. Especially being here on the Big Island where coffee is GROWN and FLOWN around the world, why would I want to sit in some corporate coffee shop(sorry, Starbucks) and drink coffee imported from somewhere else? Ample parking right out front and wifi for me to get some work done before hitting the road. I’m officially a regular now. :-)

Their salted caramel cupcakes are my all time favorite. No cupcake will ever compare. Very excited to go home and pick up some!

I’ve had their lilikoi cheesecake and the herb roasted chicken breast on wheat focaccia. Both were amazing! Excited to try some more items on the menu.

Came in for breakfast one morning and found this place to be full of charm. Wife had the mocha, I had their lemonade. We also ordered their breakfast sandwich on a croissant, which is not going to go down in the annals of Unilocal history as an incredible sandwich, but it was tasty and filled our bellies till lunch. Plenty of goodies here for the tasting, I kind of regret not buying some of their homemade marshmallows to take with me.

Solid 4 stars! They get stars just for taking my order in a timely fashion. After being told there is a one hour wait for Paul’s, yes ONEHOUR– in Hilo town!!! That’s outrageous when Kojis is right around the building! After considering a one hour wait for a waffle, I decided to head to Macy’s to buy a waffle maker… Just joking, I decided to get a coffee while considering where to go next. I know Just Cruising got good reviews, imagine when I went into the drive through line and was ignored. At least take my order and make me wait… FAIL!!! OKNOWTOTHEMAINREVIEW. I decide to go to Short and Sweet and it is charming! Prices are great! Coffee was good if a little weak but it did the job. Got the breakfast Panini with eggs, bacon and cheese. Tasted good! Myself I would add a sauce to add a little more moisture to the sandwich but it was good! They have a lot of cool things there. Portuguese sweet bread, other breads like honey oat, marshmallows, breakfast bagels Etc. You know, a good bakery! The service was great! Thank you for taking my money!

Food is terrific. The snacks and desserts are off the hook. Employees need to show more enthusiasm and energy to work. Some employees don’t seem to love the job other than that it’s terrific

We went here for breakfast this morning. It is such a cute place. There is outdoor and indoor seating which is nice. It was so warm already that their lemonade was the perfect drink for the morning. I had the roasted vegetable panini, which I devoured! My brother had the breakfast bowl. It would be nice if there were more vegetarian/vegan options, but I made do. I would definitely come back for that roasted vegetable panini!

We just had a Short n Sweet cake at our wedding and it was perfect! We were coming from out of state and they were so helpful. We sent an image of what we wanted and the flavors and they really delivered! It looked amazing and tasted good too.

I love coming here for breakfast now, they have good selections and they now serve local coffee from Hilo Coffee Mill which is so much better! Their Lilikoi marshmallows are da bomb!

The food here is fabulous. The bread is divine. It is so soft and well made. Everything they make tastes fresh and looks picture perfect. We often go for lunch and, of course, have to split a delcious confection from the case, which are all unique, and gorgeous. I almost hate to ruin the look by eating the deserts but they are too good not to eat.

Short and Sweet bakery is a nice place to grab some delicious Paninis and a sweet treat. I’ve tried this place a couple times and it’s pretty good each time. I like to order the herb roasted chicken panini. It’s very flavorful and filling, at least for me. Each sandwich comes with a side of a pickle and the service is pretty fast. My only complaint is that each sandwich is around $ 10 which is kind of expensive for just a sandwich and pickle. I’ve also had a few of their dessert treats such as the Lilikoi cheesecake and their macrons, both are pretty good. The café is nice and clean and offers outside seating. I’d like to go back and try their breakfast items and other food on the menu as well.

stopped by on a day trip for work, and my tummy was happy on the long drive to kona! the young lady who helped me was cute and friendly, just docking a star for the high prices of some items(small square of baklava was $ 2.75, yikes!). here’s what i tried: — strawberry lemon cloud: what i came for — it’s so pretty: D basically tastes exactly what it sounds like, a delightfully light confection. — red velvet crème brûlée cupcake: red velvet cupcake with a core of crème that they brûlée after you order it. it was such a nice combo i didn’t even notice it was missing frosting(usually my favorite part)! comes in a coffee flavor as well. — lilikoi bar: again, what you’d expect. there’s also a chocolate flavor(don’t recall seeing the dulce de leche one i saw in Unilocal pics). — sampled a coffee dusted marshmallow: i’m not a coffee drinker but the caffeine and sugar sure woke me up! recommended if you want a «short and sweet» breakfast or snack while in hilo!

My DH and I were in Hilo at the beginning of April and met Maria, the owner of Short n Sweet. What a gem this place is. EVERYTHING we tried was fresh and delicious. The marshmallows melt in your mouth and the croissants are light and flaky. The sandwiches on fresh made foccacia are fantastic and use local produce. The prices are very reasonable. A must stop when you are in Hilo.

Their desserts are awesome! I had a cup cake and something else I can’t remember, and they were both great. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich and he seemed to like it too. I do think the price is bit too expensive and the service could be better. Nonetheless, Short n Sweet bakery is a great place to get breakfast and satisfy your crave for delicious sweets!

Tried the breakfast sandwich with ham and cheddar cheese, and the quiche for breakfast — the homemade Oreo, lilikoi bar and kohala crunch bar for desert. Kohala crunch bar is surprisingly not too sweet — more like dark chocolate. Very tasty. Homemade Oreo tastes seriously like an Oreo — impressive. Lilikoi bar is sweet and tart as expected and very delicious. My favorite for food was the breakfast sandwich — add mayo! Also, one of the few places open on a Sunday! :)

Everything on and off their menu are the best in town. For breakfast, you can get a sandwich and a cup of coffee for $ 6. For lunch, you can order their salad or sandwich for $ 8 – 10. I’ve tried almost everything on their menu, and they have been very consistent with the quality of their ingredients and their service. My favorites have been their crème brûlée cupcakes and their chicken herb roasted sandwich. Look out for holiday specials as well. Their bakery is very dangerous. Highly addicting. I use to purchase birthday cakes from local super markets. Since the first time I’ve tried their cakes, I’ve only purchased Short N’ Sweet cakes for all occasions. Although it’s pricey, the quality of the cakes are incomparable to other bakeries in town. If you’re someone who doesn’t enjoy sweet cakes, Short N’ Sweet cakes are definitely for you. You can also customize the decoration of the cakes. Their decorators are very talented. Some down falls of the bakery would be its limited parking lot. On busy days, it can take a long time for you to purchase anything. The quality of the sandwich bread can also vary, but I haven’t had any bad experiences with them. Look forward to addicting sweets and delicious sandwiches. You can even call to order your meal. Although it’s more expensive than other bakeries in town, it’s worth the price.

We were in Hilo just for the day and didn’t want Starbucks so we found this place as we drove around Hilo town. The pastries looked fabulous but we already had breakfast so we didn’t try anything. Lots of fun things though, like home made Oreos and flavored house-made marshmallows! There’s also a fabulous breakfast special for about $ 6. Breads are made three times a week, and all kinds of sweet treats. We will definitely stop in for food the next time we’re in town.

We were almost done with our vacation and needed something sweet before we went to the airport. Enter the bakery. The Good: — Lots of sweet choices — Everything we ordered turned out ot be good. We got something chocolate and some lilikoi bars. Everything tasted great. — You also have brunch choices and sandwiches. We didn’t order these so no comment. The Not So Good: — 8 car parking, and that is assuming no large truck is making deliveries at the time. — Small outside seating area along with some inside seating — Price Bottom Line: I would come here again. Partly because what we did have was good, partly because we didn’t try everything so it deserves another chance. Prices drop it down a star.
