This was a fantastic find here at Hilton Head. The Castaway burger, the fish bites(blackened) and the BBQ pulled pork, along with the fries and sweet potato wedges were some of the best. The service was perfect(thanks Janett for dealing with my off the wall sense of humor). Yes, I would absolutely come back here if I visit HH again.

This place is ok. At 2:00pm the wait was 30 min even though the place wasn’t full. The fisherman’s stew, chicken fingers, and rice were good. The grouper was bad. It didn’t even look like grouper.

We frequent Hilton Head a few times each year and sometimes struggle with finding a kid friendly restaurant that has great food but Land’s End does a great job. The food is fresh and just tastes like it is actually crafted that day instead of micro-mealed like some of the other restaurants. The server staff were very knowledgeable and friendly and the atmosphere was just fine for our two young girls; heck, they even give the kids a coloring book to work on and there are sometimes visits from the Salty Dog himself :-). Like any family, we have our favorite dinner spots on the island and this trip has been the first time we have stayed in south beach but the fact that we have eaten here 4 times this week says a lot! The only complaint we have is an outdated website with incorrect phone numbers which makes call in orders more difficult, but other that that, Keep up the good work! Thanks! We stopped in and had lunch the other day. I had the ciopinnio with fresh french bread… the best! The sea food was fresh and the soup had the right amount of spice. The bread was warm… crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. Simple but well executed.

The only thing that was good was the fresh mahi. We had to wait for a table, which there were several open in the restaurant. Finally got the table, I believe the Manager had to wait on us. Although the restaurant only had one waiter and not a full house(the restaurant is tiny by todays standard) they were not around much at the table. The meal was good, atmosphere was bad. Dreary restaurant, hadn’t changed in years. Never busy for all the years we come to Hilton Head. Surprised as another Unilocaler said that it is still open. I would rather go to the Salty Dog, much more lively.

We had a great meal here visiting the south beach shops. We got the calamari to start was it was phenomenal. I could have drank the sauce is came with. My meal was the mahi mahi tacos with sweet potato fries and everything was pipping hot, so fresh and delicious. They portions were huge! So much mahi mahi stuffed in the tortilla I even brought some home for the next day. Others at the table ordered the mahi mahi BBQ flatbread(a little over cooked but an interesting combination), and the shrimp po’boy(a little hard to eat, but what po’boy isn’t) Service was on point and we had a nice view of the water from our table but the inside was a little damp and musty and humid.

The short version: the wait staff is terrible and the food is super boring and not worth the price. The long version: The hostess was very friendly and sweet. Our waitress, Christian, however, was difficult and overbearing. She never told us the specials, didn’t even really greet us or introduce herself. The kids menu listed what drinks were included in the meal, including root beer. I asked what brand of root beer due to so many companies now adding caffeine to their root beer. Her response was«I don’t know. It’s bottled and costs more.» I pointed out that it said included and she insisted that it was«bottled and costs more.» I suspected she just didn’t want to get me an answer for the brand. She was breathing down our necks the entire time. We had just sat down and she wanted us to order everything. When we had our food my husband was only three bites in and she asked to take away his plate. And then she did it again five minutes later. As for the food: My hamburger was very well done when I asked for medium. Everything was bland and boring. The calamari had flavorless breading and was fried into solid clumps, not individual pieces. The pineapple salsa for the calamari was just chunks of pineapple dusted in some sort of tasteless green leaves(parsley?). The po-boy, the castaway burger… both have unremarkable flavor even with the«zesty remoulade» and horseradish aioli, respectively. My conclusion: If you are starving and don’t mind spending $ 13 for a boring burger with obnoxious service, their food is okay. The menu has a ton of potential if done right. However, they don’t do it right.

Stopped in for an early dinner and decided to do lands end over salty dog. Got a great seat overlooking the harbor on a beautiful day with a nice breeze. We showed up during happy hour and took advantage of some of the specials. Started out with a shrimp cocktail which was a little over cooked and chewy. Cocktail sauce was stellar however. Kids did the usual kid menu fare and it was well received. I had a couple of the fish tacos which were amazing due to the pineapple salsa they were topped with. I also had a mahi roll which was also over cooked and didn’t have great flavor. My wife had the special which was a seasoned mahi filet with a great sauce topping. Great sides but a little pricey although in line with island prices. Service was good and refills were always taken care of. Average island dinner experience. Great view, average food.

You get what you would expect from a touristy food place– eh. The Salty Dog and Wreck are all in one area and all were equally packed on a Saturday night. We got in fairly quickly to Land’s End and the service was fairly quick. My big problem is with the food. I ordered the catch of the day and the fish itself was prepared well but the rice and veggies were blah and boring. The place is definitely just a tourist trap so don’t expect much from the food. Waste of money!

I give it five to up the average. Its not perfect but better than Salty and Wreck. Peeps are much better service. The chef at least tries to give some variety. Ok dining area but a nice upstairs outside deck. Fair beer and wine selection. Few local brews. Comfortable bar area.

We don’t eat meat or dairy so finding a good lunch option besides a salad is difficult. I might drive the 13 hours from OH for this Black Bean(egg free) burger with sweet potato fries. This is thee best black bean burger I have ever had! Kids likes there grilled cheese and fries(black pepper on the fries though). You might want to request no pepper for little ones. Chicken finger kids meal had a enough chicken for 2 kids!

The staff was fabulous and quickly welcomed our family to a table. Despite having an antsy 11-month-old with us, the bar manager was friendly and accommodating. The food was wonderful and we enjoyed our key lime calamari so much that we needed to take our entrées home to eat later as we were so full. The adult drinks were wonderful and the beer selection fantastic. We enjoyed shopping at the surrounding shops afterwards.

We only went to this spot because it was right next door to our hotel & we got in late/starving. Blah is all I can say. It’s just your typical boring, mediocre waterfront restaurant. Part of the Salty Dog empire, it reminded me of a Chili’s for pirate enthusiasts. Even though it’s freaking shrimp season as we speak & the restaurant is ON A MARINA, my peel & eats were obviously frozen & actually mushy. The onion strings were bitchin, but that’s hard to mess up & like I said before, shades of Chili’s. Service was fine, but the place was empty, dark & weirdly damp. Bummer central.

I’ve always had good experiences eating here. Breakfast is what you really wana come here for. The salty dog bowl that comes in a red souvenir dog bowl is an amazing dish. Got it twice this week. Décor is pirate themed and its nice to sit by the widows with a water view.

A-OK sounds about right. If I had kids, I think I’d give this a 4 star rating. I mean, there are pirate manikins! I went here with some friends while vacationing on Hilton Head Island. After a day at the beach, we were looking for a relatively quick but nice place to grab food and drinks. Land’s End Tavern won because it had happy hour specials listed on the chalkboard out front. It’s also a bit more casual or at least more fun than the Salty Dog café and more intimate than the outdoor bar.(my friend whose been coming to HHI for years HATES the live music outside at Salty Dog Café). We chose to sit outside, which meant we were taken outside and got a great view of the boats at the docks(see my picture). I saw all the pirate décor when we walked through the inside, and I think my childhood imagination would have loved it, if I had been here then. My group was hungry(and probably slightly feeling some heat stroke), so we ordered a lot of food. We got peel & eat shrimp, baja fish tacos, BBQ pork tacos, and taco boy shrimp tacos. The fish tacos were fresh tasting with the crunchy cabbage, but the shrimp tacos were my favorite — lightly breaded and friends like a po boy. Yum. The waitress was nice, and even the manager walked around and checked on us. They kept our beer and water glasses full, so we were pleased.
