The Fresh Market

Very good selection of unique and different fresh foods at reasonable prices. Everything looked good and wanted to try everything. Triple berry loaf was very good, sourdough loaf was also very good and «sour». Huge selection of loose nuts, candy and snacks. Desserts and baked goods done on premises. Meats were fresh looking and butcher quality not wrapped in styrofoam and cellophane. Would definitely shop here if we lived on Hilton Head.

Much to my disappointment Fresh Market is no longer on my favorite list. Since their remodeling took place the deli is a nightmare.
I have literally walked out of the store when I was unable to get service at the deli counter.
After standing around waiting for someone to help me I just left. There is no sign that says you have to go to the front of the deli to get service.
If this is the case please advise your customers that if you stand by the meat window no one will come to service you. Why not have enough employees to be able to service your customers no matter where they are standing. Or maybe it is the employees you are hiring. You might want to think about that. Good employees are worth they weight in gold. They give your customers a reason to shop at your store.

The food is great but you’re going to pay a lot more for the better quality. The staff behind the counters are great. But there are never enough cashiers and they usually act like they don’t want to be there. I purchased a small amount off the olive bar for $ 9.99 per pound. When I got to my car I checked my receipt and it had rung up for $ 7.99. I went back in and told the cashier there must be something wrong because these few items couldn’t come close to almost a full pound. She just looked at me and told me «that’s what they rang up and that’s how much they are». So I went and found a manger (Mitch) and he was very nice and he weighed them and they were only .38 of a pound. By this time another manger was standing there and neither she nor the cashier could comprehend what the problem was. I explained (very nicely) to both of them that it had been weighed incorrectly. It was .38 of a pound; not .79 of a pound. Neither one of them could comprehend this basic math problem. Finally, Mitch came back with my $ 4+ and I left. But neither the clerk nor the other manager ever said «sorry that happened» or anything. So I guess the lesson is Make Sure Everything Is Weighed Correctly And Check Your Receipt in line. Because from time to time obviously mistakes will happen. But for the employees — If You Really Don’t Want To Be There Please Leave. There are a lot of great people looking for a job like yours.

Gorgeous market with everything you need for a wonderful meal! A nice change from the Whole Foods chain. I like their layout and variety. Great quality of meats and produce which is most important. You can even buy wine there on Sunday morning! Amazing since in Texas you have to wait until 11am. Overall a really great experience and we will go there every time we can. The staff is very helpful and willing to answer questions. Fresh flowers, even cards and gifts. It’s really a pretty store which is nice for a change.

We just strolled in for a quick vegetarian lunch and bought everything in sight. The food here is fresh and delicious. They have a large organic section, a big deli, and lots of organic groceries. We will definitely come back

Often we had so much for lunch that we just wanted snacks for dinner. They have great breads, cheeses and fruit, so perfect!

I adore Fresh Market here in Hilton Head and at home. However, the staff in the prepared foods section deli area are AWFul. They look at you as if you are bothering them when you come up to the counter. Another customer and I were joking about getting the evil eye from the lady on duty just now.
I usually go at night. Maybe the daytime staff is better. Still love the products.

Just had their deluxe white meat chicken salad. After my third mouthful of grizzle and bones, I abandoned my sandwich. Fresh Market used to be the place to shop; not any more. Employees were engaged, helpful and friendly. At the store last night around 7, not one employee seemed like they wanted to be there. After waiting and being looked at twice by a deli counter employee, I had to interrupt a conversation between two deli employees to get this «wonderful» chicken salad. The cashier finally spoke after I engaged her in conversation. This store needs a rapid overhaul.

I think this Supermarket has super-​ceded my adoration for Whole Foods. I realize that they don’t necessarily focus on organic produce and products, which is super important to me, but I still adore Fresh Market. Their buyer finds the most interesting products! While on a recent jaunt I was browsing the refrigerated drinks (they have so many fun ones!) and I found the most amazing Kombucha. It’s Chai Cola and it tastes almost exactly like a Coca Cola with just a hint of vinegariness (that is so not a word, sorry.) I’ve since gone to their Website (the Kombucha People) and found that Fresh Market is the only purveyor around. This Chai Cola Kombucha is amazing and I love that it has the added health benefit of being fermented. I highly recommend that anyone who stops by (and loves Coca Cola) pick one up and try it. Anyway, I could spend hours wandering the aisles and gawking at all the amazingly inventive trail mixes, dried fruit, old school bulk bin candy, interesting in-​house baked goods, pre-​marinated meats and fish, and humongous (although probably GMO-​filled) apple varieties. I also love the décor. All the fonts used, the dark wood, the lighting; everything about this Supermarket is very inviting.

Gone way downhill the past year, I live on the island, year round and this used to be a weekly stop but the quality has gone downhill dramatically.
There have been several instances where sandwhiches and salads have been way past the expiration date in the deli section (ALWAYS check the date)
Employees drag large trash filled bags through the store, fruit has been iffy at best, and hardly any of the sales that occur are actually sale items once you get there.
I really like Fresh Market, the other locations in the state are well managed and clean and a great experience.
But like most everything on Hilton Head, this fresh market is a tired, dirty old beast, Maybe its because of all the yankees, I don’t know. I would def avoid shopping here.

This place was awesome. The produce, meats, shrimp were outstanding. We shopped there for most of our needs all week long. Way better than Piggly Wiggly.

Great samples, great selection, great prices.

The Fresh Market reminds me of Bristol Farms in CA but on a smaller scale. The market has an in house bakery, fresh meat deli and seafood counter, a large bulk of dry goods section and a large produce section.
I picked up a cooked whole lemon herb chicken, cheeses, fresh baked white chocolate and kitchen sink cookies, nuts, licorice, Christmas candy, fresh made pretzels, and a fresh Greek salad. Everything we bought was high in quality and so delicious.
The fresh market is a great place to shop for food and an nice place for picking up souvenirs or goodies for family and friends.

I really love this store! It’s hard for me to rate a grocery store as 5 stars but this one comes reaaallly close. Every time we visit HHI we come here at least a couple times to stock up on unique treats. They always have really great freshly prepared foods in all categories. We love to grab some baked items and at least one round of meats for the grill. Also I love the nuts, fruits, and dehydrated veggies section that you can scoop out to your hearts content. The service is always stupendous as well.
