Great place to pick-up a latte and walk to the beach. Breakfast looked great too, but my visit was latte centric, and specifically the Sand Dollar latte(cinnamon and vanilla) with your choice of whip or no whip. The restaurant was busy, on a Monday morning around 10am(in February) and you could tell the staff was under pressure, but that didn’t keep them from serving up a delicious drink. Watusi is a 5 – 7 minute walk from the beach, so you can get a view if you take it to go. If you want it to go, just enter the door and walk straight up to the counter in front, place your order, pay and wait… receive and enjoy!

Great place! Quaint personable and delicious. The coffee was quality and the food prepared exactly as asked. The staff was great and we never lacked attention. We accidentally got the wrong check but they handled it like professionals. Definitely a place we will return being from out of town. Didn’t get our 5th star due to the price vs food quality but I think that things around the beach are probably pricey due to real estate.

Great coffee. Ask what blends they have today! I had the Costa Rican blend and it was SO good! They also had French Roast and they always have their own house blend. They serve it in enormous cups. The menu states you get one free refill, but they charge after that. The mugs were so big, I actually didn’t need more. And I really like coffee in the morning. I had the cinnamon french toast. It was great! Crispy along the edges and soft and buttery on the inside… so good! And perfect with the coffee!!! Husband had the breakfast burrito served with a side of grits and homemade salsa. He said his was really good too. But he didn’t love the salsa because it was very cold. Even close to room temp or slightly cool would have been better with the hot food. Service was great(and the place was definitely busy). The manager was even walking around checking on tables and asking how everyone was doing. Next time we are in HH, we will surely return.

Was excited to check this place out based on other reviews but was sadly disappointed. Went on a Thursday and it wasn’t too busy. We sat at the bar and ordered a coffee and a vanilla latte. The coffee was not that good and the vanilla latte was disgusting, I didn’t end up drinking it. As for the food, my French toast was burnt on one side and the scrambler was under seasoned and lacked any real flavor at all. Very disappointing. Our waiter never checked on us to see how our breakfast was and we had to flag him down for our check. What people see in this place is beyond us.

A cool chill breakfast/lunch coffee spot kind of place. The menu says they believe in local fresh products which was evident in the food. They have lots of specialty espresso drinks which are delicious. My food came out very quickly and the staff was very nice and helpful. A very cool little spot that deserves a visit.

We had breakfast at Watusi one time and stopped by for a latte multiple times during our one week stay in Hilton Head. The crabs egg benedict($ 13.95) was filling and cooked perfectly. I substituted the English muffin bottom for a potato pancake. There was an additional charge, but it was worth it. :)

Excellent setting outside, we had crab cake Benedict and potato pancake Benedict… we recommend both! I had a unique drink called popping pearl… see what you think!

Came here on a breakfast date with my sister. We both ordered the Crab Eggs Benedict with the potato cake instead of the english muffin. They were scrumptious! My sister who is a chef said, «Oh wow! These eggs are cooked perfectly. I don’t know about you, but I hate when I order Eggs Benedict and the yolk is overcooked and then every bite you are like«Man this is a waste of calories.» The dog outside is so cute! We used to vacation here on the island and every year we would go around and say hi to all the dogs. So of course I had to recreate the memory. The service was wonderful. She was very nice when I asked her about 15 different questions about the cookies. I have a huge sweet tooth. I ordered a chocolate chip cookie, but I haven’t tried it yet. When we were leaving she offered to put ice in our water bottles. So go here and order my modified version of the Eggs Benedict and say hello to the boxer. I edited to add: I tried the chocolate chip cookie and it was terrible. It was too hard and not enough chocolate chips. It was even hard to break. Sad cookie day.

Great breakfast… especially the omlette made your way. The potato benedict was interesting but definitely needs the hollandaise sause to give it flavor. A laid back, kooky atmosphere. We would come back and try another dish…

By far the best breakfast and coffee in Hilton Head! The inside mixes a cute coffee shop vibe with amazing food. Since being in Hilton head I have eaten here twice. The vegetarian Benedict and the French toast were both out of this word!!! The coffee drinks are delicious as well, way better than any other coffee shop or chain. The wait staff was very friendly and service was quick! This place absolutely deserves 5 stars!

Had the chance to take a small road trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. We decided to leave early in the morning, when I say early I mean 2:00 am. We arrived at Hilton Head around 7:30 am and I was hungry. Like always I Unilocal my way around town. While I Unilocal first thing that came up was Watusi. With great reviews and pictures, we had to try this place out. I had order their Salmon Egg Benedict. Let me tell you something, this sh… was delicious. Plus this was my first time ever eating a egg benedict. They made my first time experience eating am egg benedict memorable. Definitely would recommend all friends to go get breakfast at Watusi if they are vacationing around Hilton Head, South Carolina. Nice area, good staff and great food. You will not be dissapointed. Take my would for it. Eat and be happy.

I have to start off by saying how nice and relaxing the atmosphere is with beautifully decorated dining area inside and out. We sat inside for brunch and had great service. The menu offering is kinda small, but food was good. I had a ham, egg and cheese croissant served in a basket. It would have been easier to eat from a plate, but it did look interesting. I was disappointed with the drink selection as I wanted a fountain drink and they had bottles. My husband had the medium roast coffee and said it was really good. The prices are a little high, but to get away from loud children in other big restaurants was worth it on vacation. I would recommend this place to couples or anyone without small children. It’s more of a coffee shop style atmosphere. Ample parking and lots of patio seating.

I think the most amazing part of this breakfast for me was the hair that was cooked into my waffle. The second most amazing part was that there was no apology, no adjustment of the bill for huge inconvenience, NOTHING. Absolutely disgusting. Then the fact that I had to wait while they made another one while my husband had his breakfast sitting in front of him and without wanting it to get cold, I told him to go ahead and eat, which he felt bad about for not waiting for me. Next up, service. The waiter seemed constantly disorganized. I had to ask for cream for my coffee, had to ask for syrup for my waffle, it was annoying — syrup is an item that you bring out WITH or BEFORE the food — you don’t make the customer wait and request it. Then I had to wait for him to bring each of those items — he was more interested in making sure the dog that was on the patio had water. Overall, I thought the food was bland and unmemorable, even the syrup which lacked sweetness and flavor. Whoever said this was the best breakfast on the island maybe hasn’t eaten anywhere else? I don’t know. But for me, to see a giant hair coming out of the side of my waffle that had been cooked INTO it followed by mediocre… wait, not even mediocre, I’ll say poor service and bland food and having to ask for every single thing that should be offered or brought anyway isn’t my idea of a good breakfast or good service. Meh. Go somewhere else!

Watusi is what it is. It is an amazing coffee bar mostly. It has a great look and feel. Very comfortable. There are even people on their laptops working with their lattes. I would do the same if I called Hiltonhead home. For great coffee I suggest the Nutty Irishman or the Pecan Pie. The Sand Dollar is good but I’m not that much of a fan of cinnamon. The Honey Bun is very light and sweet, my wife stole it from me. We had breakfast there and it was amazing. I had the Crab Benedict. English muffin, crab, spinach, poached egg with hollandaise sauce. It was the best breakfast I had while on Hiltonhead. My wife had the potato pancake Benedict. It’s two potato pancakes, each with smoked ham they slice off the bone in the kitchen, topped with spinach, a slice of tomato, poached egg and hollandaise sauce. It was amazing as well. My oldest daughter got the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits are made from scratch and are so light and fluffy. The gravy is great. Tastes like homemade. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed it. My kids all had fruit smoothies. My daughters both had Pink Monkeys, strawberry and banana. My son got a Very Berry I believe and loved it. Everything at Watusi is organic and fresh. The coffee is fresh roasted when they order it. If you want good coffee and food for breakfast or lunch while on the island, check out Watusi. It is what it is, and I love it.

I’ve been racking my brain since we had breakfast here for a reason to not give this place 5 stars and even though I can find some minor beef, I simply cannot ignore the terrific experience I had. Was it «island time» for them to bring our food and open the doors at 7:30AM? you better believe it, but it was worth every minute of our toddlers tantrums once the food did come out. Was the music a bit too loud and out of place for a early morning breakfast? absolutely. Even the strange man who disrupted our breakfast to take pictures of my family on his flip phone and then ask us for money was not enough to tarnish my opinion of Watusi. The food was simply outstanding. I’m 99% certain the blueberry muffin was made to order on the spot, and was warm and fluffy, and made me want to roll around in its tasty goodness. The potato pancake benedict(or whatever it’s called) was literally the best breakfast meal I’ve ever had, and I’ve eaten me some delicious breakfast food. Waitstaff was friendly and outgoing, and did a great job of figuring out ways to keep the kids from running rampant while the chef worked his/her magic. I’m also a big fan of their patio/deck area to sit. It’s a bit chic and on the trendy side, but they have not sacrificed function for form — it’s a great spot to have your coffee as well as eat your breakfast. I highly recommend this place to kick off your beachy day on the Island — it’s a winner!

I find myself dreaming about this place. I came in one morning, took a cozy spot in the corner, and proceeded to look at the menu. I wanted to order five different items. They ALL looked SO good! I went with the veggie Benedict and their House Blend decaf Dancing Goats coffee. I’m not a vegetarian, just a sucker for a good Bene. My coffee took a couple minutes, because they brewed it FRESH. This is ALWAYS a welcome tactic. I savored every, last bit of that Benedict. Back home now, I find myself wishing I lived a lot closer so I could stop in for breakfast and that fabulous coffee. Let me tell you. It didn’t matter how quickly I wanted to get to the beach, I was staying until every drop of that coffee and last bite were gone!

Food: Salmon Benedict was great. I had the Potato Pancake Benedict which was fabulous! Eggs were perfectly poached, ham was delicious. It was the right combination with the spinach and tomato. Drinks: I had the sand dollar speciality drink which was steamed milk, cinnamon and vanilla syrup, a shot of espresso, and whipped cream topped with cinnamon. The Very Berry smoothie was also great. Service: Best service I’ve had at Hilton Head Island hands down. Ask for Jessica. She was fantastic and everything I want in a server. Always there when I needed something or to make sure everything tasted great. Her service made the whole meal worthwhile. Will definitely be back and ask for her.
