Called from the West Coast at appx 3pm, due to a broken ignition switch discovered that day. I know my vehicle is older and might need more than just a «quick fix» by my mechanic(who may not know as much about older GM vehicles). Miracously, not only did someone answer my call(it’s 6pm on the East Coast mind you), but it was Douglas Gan, owner of the company. Doug also runs AISI. He really knows steering columns! I did TRY using the previously asked questions on (which led me to Doug’s business), because I still I couldn’t figure out which parts were at issue. After I described the problem, Doug quickly guided me to what I might need(a «rack») to not only get my vehicle running, but also hopefully prevent a recurrence any time soon. Since steering column failure could create a major problem, I’m happy I checked with Doug’s website. I’ve forwarded his site to my mechanic. If my mechanic is reluctant to order the part(since he has his own local parts distribution network), I may be making a donation to Doug via Paypal. His advice may help you from getting taking advantage of, or used as a guinea pig by someone less knowledgeable in this area. If you cannot figure it out from his website(which has great pictures and advice) and must call with questions, but find his advice helpful, please pay him for his time!
