Walked in here without really knowing what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised with their inventory. They sell items that you wouldn’t normally find anywhere else. Very unique items like their candlesticks. This is definitely the place to go if you want to buy unique candlesticks. Very cramped though, not sure if this is normal because of the abundance of Christmas items that they have. I am guessing that it’s not so cramped the rest of the year. If you need a gift for someone that loves to cook or host parties, this is your store. they sell your not so typical cookbooks that would make great gifts.

Dear Savvy Consumers, I received a seasonal item from Yankee Peddler in Hinsdale, IL. The item was too large for my home so I thought rather than letting it collect dust in my storage room I would bring it back to the store. I did not have a receipt, as it was a gift, but I brought it back thinking it was clearly their merchandise and they would exchange it. When i walked in I saw the same item in a smaller size so I felt even more confident that they would realize that it was, in fact their merchandise. The item was brand new in the Yankee Peddler Gift bag. After going back twice to get a «decision maker» they told me they would not allow me to exchange the item. I even offered to exchange it for another seasonal item and they would not. They told me the only thing they could do for me is to rewrap it so I can re-gift the item. I was and still am mortified that«Sue» the business owner runs her business in such a way that exchanges are not welcome even with a brand new item that was clearly purchased at Yankee peddler. And for Sue to tell me to re-gift a gift that was given to me?!? Absolutley mortified. If and when Yankee Peddler goes out of business it will be no wonder why… get a clue from some of the successful retailers like: Nordstrom and Costco. While they are bigger in size and volume thier customer service and exchange policy is 2nd to none. They understand the value of repeat customers and word of mouth marketing and reward their valued customers with superior customer service and an easy exchange policy. I will never go back to Yankee peddler and whats more… I meet with my «meet-up» group of 18 local Moms this afternoon in Hinsdale and I will spread the word about the terrible customer service at Yankee Peddler. Cute stuff but absolutley not worth the hassle. Hey little shops in Hinsdale: Get a clue. Socail networking spreads faster than wild fire. One unhappy customer spreads to 50 by the end of the business day. Want to stay in business: Change your strict and unrealistic store policies. In short: get over yourself!!!

The Yankee Peddler is one of those«boutiquey» shops that is always on my list when I am looking for a one of a kind gift for friends or family. From the time that you push open the squeaky front door, your senses are assaulted with the smell of the designer lines of home fragrance that they carry. The space is stocked and pleasantly crowded from floor to ceiling with a variety of items sure to please. From designer cocktail napkins to potpourri, picture frames, home fragrances, personal body care products, cookbooks, and during the holidays specialty ornaments, the Yankee Peddler always has that unique gift item that you didn’t even think of before entering the store. They also carry one of my favorite home fragrance lines«Thymes» which is often hard to find. Stop by this unique little shop the next time you are in Hinsdale. There’s no telling what you might find tucked away in a little nook or cranny. That’s part of the delight of this little shop.
