This is such a great park. There are two playground areas — one for kids under 3 and another for kids between about 3 – 6. There is a reasonable amount of grass here but by no means is there an area large enough to play a tag football game or anything like that. It’s still nice to see green grass where little kids can run around. The one nice thing about Columbus Park is the huge trees all around the park which provide plenty of shade during the summer. Many of the newer parks in Hoboken don’t have much shade since their trees obviously haven’t had much time to grow yet.

This review is for the tennis courts. How can there only be three courts in a city of 50,000 people?!? The courts are cracked in many places and are in need of repair. The waiting time can also be brutal on nice days/nights. There are lights but they shut off too early on those summer nights(around 10pm). The bathrooms are also the most disgusting thing you have ever walked into. Hold your nose! Lots of potential here but needs some TLC!

I was considering wether to give this park 4 or 5 stars– It is a small park after all… however, I decided I couldn’t hold size against the park because it does a wonderful job with the space available. Columbus Park is directly across the street from my apartment and I walk through it almost every day. It is green and sunny, with trees and other ornaments of landscape architecture that make it quaint and enjoyable. I consider myself lucky to live across the street from a calm, natural area in such an urban environment. The park is best enjoyed in the daylight when it is filled with cute dogs playing fetch and nannies strolling with carriages. It is a well-kept public space that is good for lounging in the afternoon or sitting for a shady outdoor lunch.

This a nice, clean park in uptown Hoboken. There are lots of tree’s and a few benches which helps keep the green areas cooler during the summer. It’s a nice place to lay out and read a book or have a picnic. Paths criss cross the small park for people who have strollers and walk their pets. Towards the West side of the a park are two playgrounds. The park on the southwest side is fully gated and suited for toddlers. It’s good size park and usually full of parents and their kids running around. Next to that park is another playground with slides and a jungle gym for older kids. My only complaint is that there are only two swings which can cause issues between kids and who is waiting to ride the swing next. There is also a public tennis court and half of basketball court in this park which I have yet to take advantage of. All-in-all a nice local park for people of all ages.
