This place is under a new management and cook. I was very upset with the negative bad«attitude» the people working behind the counter was showing. The young girl was complaining about everything. I didn’t have to hear most of it. You can also hear the kitchen staff also complaining. I was hoping the food would be better but my chicken in garlic sauce was just a grilled think chicken cutlet. No garlic what so ever. Very disappointed. So this whole first visit to this place was my last. I really wish them luck and hope they read this and make changes. Because restaurant like that are a dime a dozen. You need to stand out and leave a mark.

This place has been taking over by new mgmt and I am quite disappointed with the baked chicken. They have changed the inside and they changed the hot sauce too! Hopefully they work out their issues…

I was really looking forward to this place but the food was a let down. The chicken I got was very overdone and didnt know it would be fried. Hot sauce was good that’s about it.

That perfect hole in the wall place with incredibly delicious and authentic food. No matter what they have that day or time, it always fills my heart and belly with joy! The hot sauce is on point and SERIOUSLY hot, so start small. Also, CHEAP… which is hard to find these days. Wonderful place for a super low key date night… BYOB!

Actually quite delicious! Had their soups two days in a row and not salty at all with great flavor and meat and vegetables. The baked chicken is very moist with delicious flavor. Not a beautiful place or would be fun to eat in… Read about how good the Cuban sandwiches are… Gonna go back this week to have one with café con leche. Yum!

Today I was searching for Pollo Guisado(Stew Chicken) and couldn’t find it anywhere in Hoboken. Can you believe that?!? Anyhow, I decided to call this restaurant and ask if they had it. They didn’t. However the lady on the phone recommended the baken chicken. I chose the Pepper Steak instead, with white rice and red beans. I also ordered 2 empanadas. SPLENDID food.!! I make it my life’s work to eat at restaurants athe world over, and for all the high priced restaurants that I have eaten at in Hoboken, and Jersey City, the FLAMBOYANRESTAURANT ranks second, ONLY behind Cucharamama. Good going Flamboyan.

Greasy breakfast and Pernil… decent café con leche. Too bad it took 30 minutes to get two eggs some bacon and toast. Also, the place is kind of a dump. Food was decent overall but I won’t be going out of my way.

Don’t know what is all the rage. But food just wasn’t that great. Quasi affordable — yes. Delish — no. The chicken which was suppose to be their star dish was over fried and super super dry. Felt like biting into chicken jerky. To add insult to injury the chicken lacked any unique flavor. This is definitely a pass. Don’t waste valuable stomach space here.

Present daily entrée menu with daily specials available on the menu. Entrees come with beans and rice(yellow/white rice or vegetables). Average preset menu is $ 7.50 — $ 8.50. The rice portions are big! They may run out of food from the preset entrée so come early. Additional Entrees can be ordered from the daily specials(if food runs out), but hit the presets! Service may be slow. This is a off the radar family owned joint with a local following. Spanish TV is broadcasted. See preset entrees below… The food is phenomenal! This place is not Cuban or Puertorican. It is DOMINICAN. Anyway, the food is very delicious and their prices are reasonable. We always call for delivery and the woman on the phone is a very sweet lady. For two plates of rice and beans, tostones, beef stew and oven roasted chicken the price came out to $ 18.00. The empanadas are also very good. I wouldn’t go eat there because it is like others have said, off the beaten path and you’ll probably walk out smelling like Dominican food but delivery is a must. Treat yourself.

As a Puerto Rican by way of Brooklyn, I have to say the food is ok. Price wise it’s great, you can grab a filling lunch for $ 6, but some of the food needs work. The red beans are somewhat bland, and the roast pork could use some more«sabor» or flavor. The place could also use a makeover, as it’s pretty dark and a little dingy. Overall, if you’re hungry and in a rush, then why not. It’s not mama’s, but then again nothing is!

The place is little off from the main streets of Hoboken. We ordered for 7 people and got more then we can finish. Basic cuban sandwich was only $ 4 and stuff inside the two flat bread was plenty. The lunch specials are excellent and priced fair. Pros: Fair price for sandwiches and lunch specials. Cons: My friend got a $ 1.50 potato balls with beef inside(it was sour and tasted like 2 days old). My friends advise to you all stick with basic sandwich and rice and beans. Do not order potato-balls.

have driven past this place several times and yesterday I decided to give it a try. Overall it is CHEAP. $ 21 for two entrees, a drink, order of platanos and an empanada. I had the Steak and Onions with yellow rice and beans; steak was decent, onions were delicious and the yellow rice and beans was sub par. Overall meal was ok. and worth the $ 8.50. Plus I have enough for lunch today. My dinning partner had the Ox Tail stew; nice big pieces of flavorful Ox Tail and he felt the same way about the rice and beans. and again this was enough for lunch today. The empanada wasn’t great. it was baked and a bit too much bread for me. We also got a side order of sweet platanos. very tasty! 3 stars due to the real lack of flavor but I am not giving up. I will be back next week to try out the Pernil special

$ 9.50! For $ 9.50 Flamboyan delivered pollo al ajillo(garlic chicken), a beef empanada, and an order of maduros! Wowsers! The sign outside says Flamboyan is a Spanish restaurant, but like most Spanish restaurants around here, they’ve also got some Puerto Rican and Cuban food on the menu. They’re open from 6am to 8:30pm, with delivery ending at 8pm. The lady who answered the phone was very nice and not at all like the rude, harassed people who answer the delivery lines in the city. And she spoke perfect English, which is not normal but so welcome. If you go to the place, they’ve got a decent number of tables and a counter. I’m not sure if they’ve got air conditioning, though, so beware if you go in the middle of summer. The empanada was fried with beef and olives inside. I’m not an olive fan, so to me the empanada was just okay. But it wasn’t bad by any means. The garlic chicken was fried, with garlic paste smeared all over it. And boy did they not skimp on the portions. I swear there was more than half a chicken in that container. It also came with rice and beans… LOTS of rice. The rice was okay. The beans were pinto beans cooked with a lot of sauce, onions, potato and bell pepper. It was almost like a soup. After adding a little salt it was perfect. The maduros were definitely the winner. $ 2 got me a whole lotta maduros! I swear there were two large plantains in there. Plus, they were sweet and perfectly caramelized. So while the food was insanely cheap and the delivery incredibly quick, the food quality was just okay. BUT if you’re craving maduros and are short on cash it’s definitely the place to go.
