By under new management, does that mean no management? I came here with 2 friends for a few drinks, or what we thought would be a few drinks, but the service was so awful that it turned out to be a one-and-done. Right off the bat, from the minutes we sat down, it took the menus 10 minutes to arrive, then 5 minutes for the waitress to come back and take our order, which took another 10 minutes to arrive(3 beers on draft must be hard). We almost walked out before our beers arrived because we were so fed up, but finally they showed up. She only made it worse when she came back and wasn’t sure which beer was which. «Oh man, I forget which one is the Yuengling», isn’t something your customers want to hear. I guess the 3 second walk from the bar to the table makes you forget your memory. Anyway, it doesn’t go up from here. We asked for the check almost immediately and after realizing that wasn’t happening, someone from our table had to physically find the waitress and get the check from her. We weren’t risking a credit card malfunction, so we left cash and took off as fast as possible. Needless, to say, we won’t be coming back to 4 L’s.

The drinks were dirt cheap, and pretty damn solid. $ 3 for a vodka/cran? Amazing. The place was as empty as empty can possibly get, but my friends and I didn’t mind. The music was meh, and the bartender was awesome(I forget his name, unfortunately), but the bouncer was annoying. You could tell he didn’t want to be there and told the bartender to stop serving us so we can leave and they can close earlier. This place is PERFECT for pre-game and getting a buzz going; I wouldn’t say it’s got much more than that going for it.

Terrible terrible terrible. Skip this place all together. Tap beers tasted like the tap was dirty. Food was worse than microwaved frozen apps. The reason for 2 starts was because our waiter was nice. Stay away!

They brought back beat the clock $.50 beers. They’re back in my good graces and now back to being my Thursday hangout. Find me there Thursdays nights.

I rarely write reviews, but this restaurant/bar is just so lame, I want it to go out of business so something cool can take its place. Walked in, plain boring bar, okay music. Hardly anyone there(about 10pm on a Saturday night), which was fine because my friends and I just wanted to drink and chill. We sat at a table and could see the waitress ignore us so we got our drinks at the bar and asked for menus. Ten minutes later, still no waitress so I ordered for us at the bar and saw the bartender walk over to the waitress to tell her our order. While waiting for our food, the music suddenly changes to extremely loud, awful, terrible, techno nonsense.(There’s like no one here and this is not even danceable music) Foodrunner brings our food(mozz sticks, mini burgers, nachos) …it’s all gross. I get up to ask the Foodrunner for ketchup(still no server) FiNaLLy server comes over and asks us if it’s good. We’re grossed out, clearly not eating, and just want to leave so, yea whatever it’s fine. check please. All in all… It disappoints me that a place in such a wonderful location could care so little about the experience it provides for customers.

This place is a joke. We literally waited 2 hours for a steak sandwich that was greasy and gross and a slimy turkey club. Never. Ever again will I eat here. Please– Go somewhere else before you think of eating here. Now, all that being said, the water wasn’t too bad.

As a bar, The Four L’s deserves five stars. My friend kept remarking on the freshness of the beer(Heineken), and believe me, he has drunk a LOT of beer in his day. Lorenzo at the door checking IDs was very personable and welcoming. The bartender we had seemed always to be in front of us just as we were thinking about her. A DJ was just coming on as we left, and he was pulling out the old hard classic rock, not too loud, but loud enough to notice. A nice crowd, where you can feel comfortable and relax for a while. I’m not giving five stars because the food was good, but not super good. To be fair, we only had mozzarella sticks and pizza. I think with as much pizza available as there is on Washington Street, it is hard to compete. I think the new chef is a winner, and if he’s allowed to work out a new menu, The Four L’s will easily be five stars all the way.

I loved our server/bartender, David. He was, like, doing EVERYTHING for the place on the Saturday of St. Patrick’s Day. Pretty astounding. Ummm, let me say. The«Mexican Nachos.» Go for them if you have a big group and need to soak up your beer! They are REALLY huge and the chips are homemade.(Also, there are no other sorts of nachos on the menu, so I’m fascinated what«Mexican» nachos are as opposed to regular«nachos.») There were beer specials for $ 3. That was lucky for us! I have no complaints. I wouldn’t take a trip to Hoboken just to come here, but it certainly was a good choice since we were in the neighborhood.(What neighborhood weren’t we in on St. Patrick’s Day, though?!)

Four L’s is never too crowded — which actually isn’t a bad thing… Let me explain. Four L’s has a nice projection TV in the back of the restaurant. They were able to put the volume on for my game(GOPITT), which was very much appreciated. Most restaurants won’t even consider putting the volume on. The food is okay. Nothing special but nothing awful either. Drinks? eh. I will be back to watch another game.

Unilocal needs to introduce zero stars as an option for truly terrible dining experiences. Is it my fault as a consumer for deciding to walk into an empty bar and try the fare? Absolutely, I’ll wear that. There is a reason the bar next door was packed and it was empty at 1PM on New Years Day. However, that does not excuse this establishment from serving up what is already the cleat cut favorite in the clubhouse to be the worst meal I’m going to have in 2013. The coffee tasted like the worst kind of coffee that you are sometimes forced to drink at the office… and it was room temperature and actual made my hangover worse. I’ll give credit where credit is due; the mozzarella sticks arrived quickly and can be best be described as being legitimately mediocre. That was the highlight of the meal. Despite the fact that there was hardly anyone in the bar, and most of the other customers were smart enough to not attempt the food, my party’s sandwiches arrived 45 mins after we ordered them. Apparently 45 minutes is not long enough to cook french fries because they were both cold and soggy. The generally terribleness of the fries though pales in comparison to the sandwiches. The three of us all got some variation of a chicken sandwich… which consisted of lightly breaded pieces of chicken on ice cold buns with only some of the toppings and garnishes promised on the menu. Seriously, this establishment should be embarrassed that they offer food on the menu.

This place is decent, not terrible and not the best. My friends and I ordered wine on a Wednesday night and it was only $ 5 per glass. I’m not sure if that was a Wednesday night special or if it was still happy hour. The server also asked if we wanted to turn our wine orders into an order of sangria for no extra charge which was pretty sweet. Food wise, it was decent. I ordered the Hoboken wrap which was good. My friends ordered pasta and they didn’t love it or hate it. I did, however, enjoy the fried pickles. Our server did not check up on us frequently which was kind of annoying especially when we wanted our check. I’d probably go back, but not anytime soon.

Met my friend here for post-work happy hour(which turned into 4 hours) one recent Friday night, and between the two of us had 10 vodka drinks for $ 30. That’s right. $ 3 drinks. Food is mediocre at best, but when you’re downing $ 3 blueberry vodka + sprites, who really cares about the food?

I do not wait in line for a bar in the town of Hoboken. There’s more bars here per square foot than any other city in the country hence something is wrong with the people who do stand on long, crazy lines. SO, on a Saturday night on Washington Street we needed a place without a wait to get in. Enter Four L’s. I expected this place to be exactly what it was… an insanely crowded bar full of weirdos. The bartenders do an adequately good job despite crazy and rude patrons and they do have $ 2 Miller Lights on a Saturday night which is a selling point, I suppose. At least I thought it was great last night but my body isn’t a fan of those puppies today, that’s for sure.

I went here on a Tuesday night because one of my friends has a friend that runs the trivia night. I had never been here before so I was curious to see how it was. So a couple of friends and I figured we would give this place a shot and go to support our other buddy doing the trivia. The place is pretty nice on the inside and leans more towards a bar atmosphere than a restaurant. They have a full bar and also do food so if you are hungry you can pick something up. My buddy had ordered a burger while we were there and he said it was pretty good. If you go for the trivia night make sure to order the beer that is sponsoring the trivia because it will be on special. I am not sure if it changes or not each week, but I believe it was Miller who was the beer on special for that night. The trivia is pretty fun and my buddy picks out mostly current events, TV shows, and sports questions. Its just like any other trivia where you make a team, give it some ridiculous name, and then try to beat out the other teams by either the knowledge in your head, the knowledge from Google search and/or over hearing the other teams answers as they scream them out in excitement. You can win a prize for each round you win and the final round has the biggest prize. For the one we were at they gave away a beach chair. Overall I gave this place a three star rating because of the fun trivia, the nice staff, and the cool atmosphere. Like I said earlier, I did not try the food but from what it looked like it was not too bad. I will probably head back here for the trivia nights, but other than that it is really just another Hoboken bar.

Came to Four L’s over the weekend for some after dinner cocktails with my man, my best girl, and her husband. It was 4th of July weekend, so Hoboken was pretty dead(not necessarily a bad thing, considering the nightmarish parking that we typically encounter). We managed to snag a seat along the wall by the bar at a high-top table. The atmosphere was very nice inside… classy bar and very clean bathrooms. Right on! There were a handful of couples dining outside upon our arrival. Much to our delight, we learned that Saturday nights are Ladies Night at Four L’s. Wicked-cheap beers and cocktails all night. Not bad! I was the DD so I couldn’t go too wild, but the others in my party imbibed pretty nicely. My man ordered a Johnny Walker Black on the rocks, but he was convinced that the bartender gave him Johnny Walker Red instead. I wouldn’t know the difference, but he’s a true JW connoisseur. If he said it was Red, then rest-assured, it was Red. He didn’t complain, though… he is so easy-going. What a doll. When we arrived, the volume inside was not too loud. We were able to chat and shoot the breeze. When the DJ came on around 10:00PM or so, it got insanely loud in there. It was unnecessarily loud. There were maybe 20 people in there… there was no reason for the deafening volume. We could no longer hear ourselves think, let alone hold a conversation with each other, therefore, we decided to hightail it out of there. It was too bad since we would have stayed longer. The other patrons left right before we did. This place appears to be a good spot to pregame prior to hitting the more popular bars in Hoboken. Where the F was this place back when I was in college?!

On Saturday before 4pm you can get $ 2 drafts of Miller, or 5 bottles and a pizza for $ 20. Get the drafts, the pizza was terrible. However I always appreciate cheap beer and the waiter was nice. My only other gripe was instead of having another football game on, we had 2 TVs of horse racing. WHOWATCHESHORSERACING!!!

Nightlife review: This place was one of the newer spots to open on Washington Street during my time in college, and as such I never really paid much attention to it. From the outside, it looks like your normal bar. I finally got a chance to go in recently. It fills the niche of the«pre-game bar» that the area has been missing ever since Mile Square decided to raise their prices. First, no cover, which is a plus. The music… well, at times it can be very very loud… so loud that you’ll find it hard to have a convo with the person in front of you. It’s pretty varied, and depending on the night I’ve heard anything from Lady Gaga to Wu Tang Clan. Keep in mind this is a bar and not a dance hall, though. They have an assortment of specials, even on the weekends, which is a huge plus. Their domestic drafts were $ 3(Yuengling, miller lt, coors lt), which is a great deal any way you look at it. They also had other specials(3 olive vodka drinks for $ 3). Another plus is that since it’s a restaurant by day, there’s a good number of seats/tables that you can sit at while drinking. This frees up access to the bar, which is huge since you don’t have to push and shove just to get another round. All in all, the place’s location(on the way to the downtown bars /clubs) and prices should serve to attract a transient crowd. I just hope they keep up the prices, as this will make Four L’s my go to pre-game place when I’m in Hoboken. Pros: Cheap beers no cover fast service /not usually packed Cons: music is way too loud
