Johnny Rockets

We’ve been coming here off an on for the last 8 years or so. This latest meal was terrible from start to finish. The server had no personality and took our order like we were ordering at the counter from Mc Donald’s. They need to teach their wait staff to be more communicative and friendly, not like robots who can’t crack a smile. We ordered 2 burgers, fries and onion rings. The fries arrived first and we after my husband finished his fries, we asked if the onion rings were still coming and the waiter nodded yes. Another 10 minutes passes by and the onion rings finally arrive. In the meantime we notice that tables that came in before us had already received their burgers and fries. After I finish my onion rings, we patiently waited for the burgers to arrive. Another 10 minutes passes by and the manager said it would be another 3 minutes which turned out to be 5. Just as we were about to cancel our order the burgers finally arrive at our table. The burgers were tasteless (no seasoning) and greasy. We heard another customer behind us complain to the manager that his burger/​bun was greasy and she said that’s because they are made fresh. I’m not sure how fresh burgers translates into greasy buns and tasteless meat. We decided after that we will never come back here to eat again because the burgers were so terrible and the service was so slow and unfriendly. I can’t imagine this location lasting much longer when there are so many other dining choices in Hobken.

We love the simple, fast and cheap breakfast at Johnny Rockets! The coffee and food are great and the service is always so wonderful. I recently asked for a coffee refill and they needed to brew another pot, so they brewed it and gave it to me to go! So nice on a snowy morning.

Best late night fix!!! I’ve been here when I was a kid and that’s why I loved Johnny Rockets and no other has been able to compare to the one in Hoboken. They built one in Newport mall but it is TERRIBLE!!! tonight (01÷30÷16) it was packed full of drunks, a frenzy of idiots. The servers and the kitchen did there best but it had to be a rough night everyone was complaining and when we got our server (nickname THE BEAR) he was awesome he handled everything well and did a great job making sure we were taken care of even if it was crazy. The kitchen got it right and it wasn’t as bad as everyone made it seem. Thank you to the management and staff. Great job thank you very much. First Unilocal review and I have to say I’m glad it was for this place and this server.

. the burger was garbage and didn’t represent what it said on the menu. left out the fries that were suppose to accompany the burger. the onion rings were cold and skimpy. asked via the ordering process for extra ketchup and mayo and tarter sauce. NOTHING. paid almost seven dollars for a specialty shake. came ²⁄₃ full. all cold, although less than 3 miles away. called them and manager had a «meh» attitude. THIS FOOD WAS GARBAGE. do not order take out from this scam place from a staff that could give a damn.

Ordered food for delivery. Milkshakes were watery and food was cold. The burgers were soaked in grease and the burger buns were soggy. The chilli was a cup of oil and my brother was unable to eat it. A brownie sundae was ordered and the Chocolate syrup was all over the fries and other food. They did not include the ice cream as described either. The order was over $ 80 and unfortunately, we did not have a great experience with the delivered food.
Their food is typically pretty good when you eat in the restaurant, however their food via delivery is not so appetizing.

Johnny Rockets. Burgers fries shakes. Old school service and style. And they deliver. Thankfully the delivery guy does not dance to the Bee gees. Give the staff a new song already.
The food is great consistently. The person who complained about chili making their bun soggy must not understand what chili is. Lol smh.
Go here anytime, put a nickel in the jukebox, and eat a classic American meal (unless you’re weird then you can have the soy burger).

Came here Halloween night drunkenly. We got seated pretty fast (2 people) but the service was pretty slow, granted there were many people there. For drunk food it’s good, but obviously for any other kind of dining I’d say no way. The burger made me feel super weird and the fries were soggy.

The quality of service here entirely dependent on the whim of the staff. For instance, if you oder Buffalo wings, it is the discretion of the staff whether you get celery and dip with it or not. There were occasions I go it and there were occasions I didn’t. This place needs tutorial on standardization and some adult professional supervision. Service is not startling the customers by breaking into a song and dance. Give the dip where it’s due.

Really cool place, the staff is very hospitable and cool.

Stopped in for lunch and had the s&s barbecue burger w fries & a soda for $ 13.98. A little pricey for the underprivileged! Nonetheless the burger was great the chef was Mexican & im only gonna tell you once Donald Trump you stay away from this woman!

They close late which is a plus. Our waiter was helpful. The food quality was not that good may be we were there late. There were couple of loud employees around our table. One of them came by our table, turned his back and cleaned something on his back using the window next to our table as a mirror. Very disrespectful

I really don’t see a reason to go here. You can get better food and service almost anywhere else.

Recently came here for a Unilocal event and had an amazing tasting of pretty much everything they have to offer. Everything I ate was delicious especially the onion rings and the original burger! The staff here really goes above and beyond to give you a great experience over all. They are extremely attentive at this location and never leave you with an empty cup. They entertain you by dancing in the aisles and making cute pictures with the ketchup which is really cool. I love the old school 50’s vibe this place gives off and can’t wait to come back with friends.
P. S.- just a suggestion you should have an option to have any burger on the pretzel bun it was really delicious!

Being, at the event was worth the walk from where I parked. I looking forward to more Unilocal fun.

The food is not that great so the only thing that would bring you back is service, which isn’t that great. The last two times I’ve been it’s because someone else picked the place, each time the serves messed up multiple peoples orders.

I had walked by this place almost daily on the way to the Path for a year when my sister in law said she went and was impressed by how solid it was. So I had to investigate. Expecting McDonald’s fast food meets diner, I soon learned I was wrong; it was more like excellent and unique diner. I was impressed by the quality of the food, the outstanding service, and warm ambiance. I would definitely go back. I only wish they could change the bright yellow lighting. I would recommend the apple pie with cheddar a la mode… does not sound that good but trust me, it is.

I’ve gone to a few JR, one being in the Bahamas and I’m never disappointed. Great burgers, chili, fries, onion rings etc

Whenever I’m in Hoboken for a night of drinking, this is my go-​to place for drunk food. I absolutely love Johnny Rockets, especially after a couple of drinks. They’re hours are perfect for those late-​night drinkers. I walk in around 2 – 2:30 am and it’s still pretty full. Even so, the service is pretty good. We get seated immediately and our waitress always come over with waters (I think she knows what state we’re in). We place our orders quickly and the food comes out within 10 minutes. The food is pretty good for fast food. I enjoy it.
Overall, good place to go to for drunk food. I should try going to a Johnny Rockets sober and see what I really think of it…

We have popped into this place to grab take out or sit at the counter a few times. Admittedly, this is usually one of our stops after drinking so while the rest of group is ordering anything salty with cheese whiz, I’m salivating over the milkshake menu-​which is ENDLESS by the way.
I like the vibe in Johnny Rockets. It’s usually a bunch of young kids behind the counter who seem to genuinely enjoy working there. The manager/​owner always greets people with a smile.
This is a safe bet if you’re looking for grease, cheesy goodness and something that is FILLED with fat, gluten and all of the other wonderful things that make up great post-​drinking food.

Ordered takeout (delivery) for the first time today to satisfy my cheeseburger craving. Ordered a cheddar bacon double with half fries & onion rings.
The burger was so greasy, America would’ve wanted to invade it. The bottom bun soaked up the grease, so it was mushy.
On that note, I’ve eaten at the actual establishment before with no problem. Their food was actually deliciously fresh and fried.
