AMAZING! Went here with my husband for Thanksgiving and had the best experience. The menu was incredible. The food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Would definitely recommend this place!

This is one amazing place! I have been several times in the past year. The chef changes the menu constantly, and everything they make is simply amazing! If you are looking for an incredible fine-dining experience, this is the place. The fried Brussel sprout appetizer is delicious. Even if you don’t normally like Brussel sprouts, try it! Their meatloaf and fried chicken is pretty much always on the menu and you can never go wrong with them. Just typing this review has me anxious to go back. This should be on your bucket list of places to try in Utah.

This is one of the finest restaurants in the salt lake city area. You cannot beat the quality and creations of the food served here at the prices they are offered. It really still is quite a secret. Because the dining room is very small, it can be quite noisy and not as intimate. And, when it is completely full, the service can be less than expected. Regardless, the uniqueness and quality of the food is worth overlooking these minor issues, in my opinion. And, the servers and staff are very well trained and do add to a very pleasant experience overall. I highly recommend Francks for a very special and upscale dining experience without hesitation. Despite not giving this a 5 star review, I return time and time again. It really is one of the best restaurants for truly fine dining in this valley. Joy

I really love and enjoy this place! My bf took me here to celebrate my birthday. It was a fine and delightful evening out for the two of us. We arrived during sunset, and valet had parked our car. After that, we walked around the patio area for a while. It was beautiful. There were Christmas lights stretched across the sky lighting up the building and the garden/patio area. It was so pretty. I was already mesmerized. It was pretty chilly that night, so I’m not sure if they seat people outside. The restaurant itself is very clean, quiet, intimate. We sat by the window which was super nice. FOOD: We started off with fondue. This was my first time having fondue and my bfs too! It was really enjoyable and super cheesy. It was cute and fun but the fondue did fill me up much more than I had intended. For my course, I ordered the pork shank and my bf ordered the meatloaf. Very few filler ingredients to their dishes, you get what you pay for. The pork shank was tender and moist. The mashed potatoes with the meatloaf combo melted in my mouth. Although the food was delicious, my pallet must have been off that day, I felt the food was a little on the saltier side. For dessert, I don’t remember what it was called, but it had buttercream pudding? with dehydrated chocolate cake and raisins? ;D It was delectable. Perfect. We did order a bottle of wine as well, they have a wide selections of wines by glass and by bottle. We also ordered a soup because we read a few Unilocal reviews and it was highly recommended. Our server forgot about it. By the time we were done with dinner we were too full for it anyway. :P next time! SERVICE: The service was polite, comfortable and very attentive. 10⁄10! Thanks guys! We’ll be coming back! HIGHLYRECOMMEND!

Very good food. Good service. The tables are too crowded together. Hard to enjoy the experience, that you hope to have.

I would say this was ok, presentation was good portions were very small. Ambiance inside lacking somewhat. The tuna was good and I all the food was good but again very small portions. We went for a special occasions, expensive.

Wonderful food with beautiful presentation. Service was great too. It is pricy, so it will be saved for special occasions.

The ambience and atmosphere can’t be beat, especially when it’s snowing outside. If you want a romantic restaurant and price isn’t an object Franck’s is a good option. My only complaint is that every dish we ordered except two, the beets and the salad, were just too sweet. It was so sweet that I finally asked for some bread(which is free on request, btw, and delicious) just to try cut it down a little bit. Here are the dishes which I personally thought had too much sugar in them: Brussel sprouts(yeah, they were pretty good and definitely unique, but if you’re trying to choose between these and the beets, get the beets — I would never order beets, that’s my wife’s thing, but seriously, they were amazing) Soup — it was a cream based soup(I can’t remember exactly what was in it, but it did have some pine nuts which made it really good). It just seemed to have a lot of sugar — when I got the bread and dipped it in the soup it was perfect. Sous vide wagyu sirloin — the meat and potatoes were really good, but the glaze on it was also really sweet. This was when I started getting nervous — having one sweet appetizer and a sweet soup is one thing, but I’m old fashioned, I want a savory entrée. Meatloaf — actually the meatloaf itself is great, but like the sous vide sirloin it’s got a sauce on it which I think belongs on a dessert. At least with the meatloaf it was easier to eat around the sauce once you got into the middle of it, but ignoring the novelty of having blueberries in meatloaf I just don’t think it needed it. I’ll be the first to admit this might have more to do with an unrefined palate than any problem with the food because no doubt you fellow Unilocalers have more experience with $$$+ dining than me, but I was surprised that nobody in the handful of reviews I read mentioned how sugary all the dishes are. Ruth’s Chris(which isn’t a totally fair comparison as the prices are higher than Franck’s) is where I would go if I’m craving a steak although the meat itself at Franck’s seemed to be of similar quality. There is so much going on with each dish at Franck’s I had a hard time figuring out which dishes I liked and which I loved. Having said all of that the beets are delicious. My wife also got the regular salad and I tried it — it tasted like a BLT(sans T, I guess just a BL) and was also delicious. If you’re looking for something different it seems you can’t go wrong at Franck’s. Just don’t go in expecting a straightforward meal with no surprises :) And ask for bread(the butter is made in-house and was also great). The service is top-notch and friendly, a welcome surprise for such an expensive restaurant.

Still solid food and service… even sans Franck.;( Actually not much has changed. Same staples on the menu, same name, some of the same faces and same tv view of the kitchen. It was packed last night. They had several apps on the menu — we started with the fondue and Brussel sprouts. Both excellent. The fondue was rich and flavorful. Best I’ve had. We had the soup special which was a hit blueberry and porcini cream. Excellent. The flavors were so layered. Spicy and sweet. Delish! It’s true, whatever soup is on the menu, just get it no matter what. On to entrees. They had 6 to choose from. The usuals — The fried chicken which they slightly changed up with a new chimmichuri sauce, the lychee curry Seabass, meatloaf, and the sous vide sirloin. The«new» the hoisin pork shank and calamari schnitzel — the only thing the table didn’t order. The favorites were the Seabass and pork shank. So rich and tasty. Perfectly seasoned with a hint of spice. We finished with the butterscotch pudding. Very sweet and delicious but the texture was a bit too watery — like melted ice cream. Would skip that one. Cappuccinos are tiny. Would stick with regular coffee. The setting is warm and intimate. Will definitely be back!

The Brussel sprouts were life changing, the meatloaf surprisingly delightful and the pot de crème cannot be beat. The chef works magic with the crazy combinations of flavors that will never disappoint. Do yourself a favor and go on Tuesday for the tasting menu.

I’ve been here twice now and I’ve loved the experience each time I’ve come. It’s a bit pricey so I’ve reserved coming to Franck’s for special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries, and so far I haven’t been disappointed. I really enjoy how each dish is something new and surprising. You don’t come to this restaurant for pizza or hamburgers, you come here to have your pallet delighted with exquisite layers of flavor hidden within each dish. And the flavor combinations come at you either simultaneously, or in their own time and it always brings an ooh and an ahh from my mouth.

One of our favorite dining spots for a nicer meal out. Doesn’t break the bank and you still feel like it is a fine dining experience. Amazing service and incredible dishes. Try the brusselsprouts, steak and don’t forget the pb&j dessert.

I have to say that I was not as impressed as I was hoping to be, but I also want to make a note that I am sort of grading them on a curve in that for the price I paid and for what they are promising I am holding them to a higher standard than other places. That being said, I have had much better food and service at places a fourth of the price. First of all the Atmosphere, location, and both outdoor and indoor seating are just amazing. The place is beautiful and very romantic! I wish we had made our reservation for outdoor seating because it was just delightful out there. The host was friendly but not anything special or extraordinary, and my biggest issue with our visit was our server. He wasn’t terrible but he also was not helpful and very dry. We had mentioned that it was our first visit, and we also spent a lot of time milling over the menu, but instead of offering descriptions or recommendations he would just say he’d come back in a few minutes, and even when we would ask for some recommendations they were basic and really just the menu description of an item. We had heard other servers interacting with other people and both noted that we wished we would have had anyone else, they sounded amazing, super helpful and friendly, which really sucked since it was our anniversary and I was really hoping to have an excellent experience . Here is what we ordered: brussel sprouts and we made sure not to avoid the soup of the day and also got the salad of the day. For our entrees I went for the Meatloaf as recommended and my wife went with a special which was a compacted Beef Belly. For dessert we had the Pot Du Crème, and the Chocolate Triffle. At first bite I loved the brussel srouts, but then after chewing… yup they are in fact brussel sprouts! I had decided to just go for it since Unilocalers said«even if you don’t like them», but I can say that that statement is not true and if you don’t like them you will not like these. Right when you first bite in to them the flavor and texture is delicious and intriguing, but after a bite or two its gone and full on brussel sprout replaces it. The soup of the day was a spiced mango with some Crème Friache and pine nuts and probably a few other things, it was off the charts bat shiz insane! it was the best soup hands down that I have ever had, it was awesome and I am craving it constantly. I don’t remember what the salad was exactly but it was also quite good but not off the charts. Not sure if the meatloaf was having an off day but though it was good it wasn’t amazing, it was like an okay sort of dry pulled pork on top of mashed potatoes. I didn’t love the blueberry sauce but my wife did, and we actually ended up switching entrees cause we liked each others better. Again, it was good but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to get it, and wouldn’t order it again myself. The beef belly was pretty good though nothing to write home about. Beef belly is sort of like the bacon of beef. It was cooked well and had a nice crispy crust and was served with an avocado purée, some spiced peanuts, «sweet and sour cabbage» and a few other things. Essentially it tasted like a well cooked pot roast but not much more special than that other than the fancy presentation. The Pot De Crème desert was basically the most heavenly tapioca pudding you could ever imagine. It was so rich and creamy and delicious with little crunchy bites of candied walnuts and«crunchy nilla wafer cake» with sweet tart hints of a peach compote, I would go out of my way to get another one of these! The chocolate triffle however was a bit sad(see attached picture) and we only got this over the carrot cake because our server said it was amazing. It was basically a VERY thin slice of dry chocolate cake with a bit of mango purée on the side and some ice-cream on top. It also had a few other things like kiwis and I think some sage with just didn’t work for me, this was probably the saddest part of our dining experience. Since I was curious myself, I actually didn’t think the prices of some of the stuff was that bad, and if you went just for appetizers(ranging around $ 12-$ 15, and just $ 6 for the soup) and dessert($ 8-$ 15) you could make out pretty good, the entrees however are more pricey(though again not that bad) and range from $ 25 meatloaf to $ 39 sirloin, it just that typically at a place like this you will want to get a full course meal, and we ended up with a total bill before tip of $ 105. To wrap up, I will say that I was worried that the portions would be smaller and not filling, and while you probably do need to get an appetizer and an entrée to fill up they weren’t that bad, and at least the meatloaf was a pretty large portion, and honestly I though we probably could have gotten away with either skipping the appetizer and just doing the soup, or doing the petit portion of the meatloaf. I probably would recommend you check this place out, but not sure ill go back for a while.

The one redeeming aspect of our dining experience was their signature meatloaf. Other than that, I was not impressed with the food we were served. The brussel sprouts were tasty, but I have had better in less expensive establishments. The salads were really small, and it was if the person preparing them simply waved the dressing nearby. My wife ordered the sea bass, and the sauce that came with it seemed out of place, and had an off flavor that did not complement the fish at all. We shared a Miso Pot du Crème, and it had something in it that was so smoky, all of the other flavors were non-existent. The only reason I would go there again would be to get the meatloaf to go(if they do such a thing).

Pardon my French, but… sainte merde! One of the best meals we’ve had in Utah. This could be my longest review ever. If I got into every aspect that was perfect at Franck’s, no one would read this. Absolute perfection. All of it — without exception. I see no need for much further explanation of every item and aspect. Beautiful place, exquisite service by a ninja staff who delivered everything we asked for, and more, without intrusion, nearly before we asked for it. Here’s what our party of four consumed, primarily in silence, save the occasional gasp of joy: Appetizers —
— Beets(I don’t even know what they called them, just get it for the love of mary) — Brussel’s Sprouts(everything you’ve heard is true — even if you HATE Brussel’s Sprouts, you won’t know what hit you) Wine — Bottle of ’07 Gigondas Côtes du Rhôné — worth every penny. Largest wine list I’ve seen in Utah(shared list with Tuscany). Soup/Salad — Two of us had the soup, two had the wedge salad. The soup was a peanut butter curry soup, which on paper was not appealing. However, everyone knows that at Franck’s, you ORDERTHESOUP no matter what it sounds like. This was no exception to that rule. It was magical. The salad was gobbled up by the others, but didn’t get the raves the soup did. Entrees — Two got the meatloaf. Both could not have been happier with that decision. Had licking the plate been something Hubby could’ve gotten away with, he definitely would have done it. I caught his wheels turning and put a stop to it. The sea bass was another happy choice, and another very clean plate. My plate consisted of the sous vide Wagyu sirloin. At this point, I should disclose that I’m not much of a beef eater. We just don’t get along, beef and I. Our delightful waiter’s description of this dish forced me to order it. I don’t remember looking up. I’m sure I did, but I think I tasted it, saw a flash of light, heard some angels, and was thrown clear. Seriously knocked my socks off. Dessert —(had to be done) Carrot Cake — it was beautifully plated and was even more pleasing to the pallet than it was pleasing to the eye. Triple Chocolate Trifle — very small and light. Just what I needed to wrap up this incredible meal. Details — Make reservations — they make it easy, and they remind you. Free, very well-managed valet parking. Easy to find; right next door to Tuscany. They don’t enforce a dress code, but please people, dress up just a little. I don’t care who you are. Huge bill at the end — we all agreed it was worth every cent. We’ll do this on the regular.

I haven’t been to Franck’s in years. It was always pretty good but it’s out of my price range to dine there regularly and with the location, I just kind of forget about it, you know? Some friends suggested going there recently and I hesitated because I’m on a strict food regimen. A friend called ahead and said that they could easily accommodate. We showed up and it there were a few tables but not overly busy since it was a week night. The server immediately came over and offered beverages and asked me about my restrictions. I wish I remembered her name because she was wonderful. I hate being the person with a lot of requests and I hate being a pain. She made some suggestions and I went with the pan seared sea bass with confit potatoes and roasted baby veggies. It normally comes with a lychee curry sauce(I was SO sad I couldn’t have it. No dairy for me.) but she said they could just leave the sauce out. She came back after going into the kitchen just to clarify what I couldn’t have because the chef insisted he wanted to make a special sauce for me. Wow, what service! He ended up making a beautiful creamy sauce that really complimented the sea bass. Other friends got the meatloaf(huge portion!) and pork and everything looked delicious. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their meals. They got some desserts(sadly, all with dairy so none for me) and it looked divine. The thing that really made this meal for me was the A+ service. From the server to the chef, I haven’t experienced such accommodating service in awhile. Thank you!

It’s a gem! Great service, quaint setting, and really good food. The Brussels sprouts are literally one of the greatest things I’ve ever put in my mouth! Can’t imagine ever coming here and not ordering them. Great to have a quality option this far south of SLC. Can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu.

Since we couldn’t get into Grand America for Easter brunch by reason that I was late and forgot to make reservations early. We decided to give this place a try. Last time I was here was when our manager at an old company all took us out to eat in like 2009, haven’t been back since and remember loving every bit of it. Especially with how they have a TV where you can see them cooking the food in the kitchen in real time. Food was great, especially the 1st course which was the heirloom tomato pie. I could eat that all day long, the 2nd course was the Wagyu beef that melted in our mouths like butter. Heaven in every single bite. The last course which for some reason took 45 minutes to be served was a croissant French toast with many flavors and was a prodigious ending to a long meal. Would love to come back and order off the menu and try other items.

Hands down the best meal I’ve ever had! My husband and I went there to celebrate our 20th anniversary and everything, from the service to the food to the ambiance, was impeccable. Each bite we took was like a flavor party in our mouths. We started with the fondue, a delicious blend of gourmet cheeses with fruity undertones. My husband ordered the soup of the day, comprised of ingredients I would never imagine pairing together — pumpkin, horseradish, a chocolate emulsion, tomatoes, crème fraîche — but one that came together deliciously. If you think you can pass on the soup when you go there, you’re wrong — get the soup. I ordered the salad, a wedge of lettuce, apples, bacon, toasted almonds and dressing that was just perfect. Our entrees consisted of the waygu sirloin for my husband and Franck’s meatloaf for myself, both equally scrumptious and beautifully presented. To top everything off, we ended the meal with a lovely chocolate and pistachio torte with candied pistachios, chocolate cotton candy and pistachio infused ice cream — so good! Franck’s food is every bit worth the price you pay and even perhaps a bit of a steal, considering the attention to detail and the extraordinary food adventure you’ll have!

Went here for my pre-birthday dinner. I recommend you to book in advance since this place is unbelievably packed after 7 pm. Oh and remember to bring some cash because there was only valet parking available. Great atmosphere. Cute little building and cozy environment. Quite at first because we were the only few customers there, but as more and more people coming in, it got pretty noisy, I could barely hear my friends talking. The service was wonderful. Our waiter did a great job in explaining the menu to us. We’ve ordered their famous appetizers – Brussels Spout and Mushroom Tart. They were both amazing, especially the Brussels Spout, it was the most amazing appetizer I’ve never had. For entrée, I’ve got the Sea Bass. The Bass was tender and it tasted weirdly good with the curry sauce, though it got a bit salty towards the end. The lamb was ok, but I’ve had better. I think the side dishes were better than the main courses or because the appetizers were too outstanding, it outshone the entrées, or maybe a bit of both.
