The beauty from this hike cannot be described. It was so gorgeous to be able to go hike up and look over the valley in both the north and south. However, this is a very challenging hill. Make sure that you leave yourself enough time and bring lots of water. I could not make it all the way up because I only brought one bottle of water and I did not want to be too dehydrated. Also make sure that you are ready to scramble over some rocks. This trail is not for the faint of heart but even if you do only make it partially up it is gorgeous. Definitely worth it. I would have given this trail 5 stars but the reason why I only gave it 3 is because of how poorly the trail is marked. It is so hard at times to tell where to go on the trail which is a little scary if you are hiking alone. but otherwise it is an amazing hike and I would recommend it.

This hike was not easy. I’m 270 pound asthmatic but in decent health. I work out two or three times a week. I was sore for a few days after this one. Depending on your fitness level you should proceed with some measure of caution. I’m giving it 4 stars because the views are worth it. The hike itself, challenging and rewarding. I’ll wait a while before hitting this mountain again. Having said that this hike really is great. But it is relentless, steep and more steep and it just keeps going until the saddle then it’s a scramble up loose rocks to the top. But if this 270 pound asthmatic can do it so can you. Getting to the top entirely depends on you and the pace you want. I started hiking at 840 am and made it to the saddle around 1130 or so. I kept my pace steady with not many stops. People passed me, but I passed a few folks too. I tested at the saddle for 10 minutes and made the summit around 1220 pm. At this point my muscles are done. But to make the trip back down, tedious and jarring on already fatigued quads. For me, it’s easier to assume a little jog/trot when you can. For this hike you mostly can’t do that because it’s so steep with large boulders for a trail more than half of the way. I made it back to my car just before three, that was with the jogging more toward the bottom. Super fun day, but a leg burner. I went home and soaked in the hot tub.
