Best pie our family has ever had. My in laws stop here every time they visit from Chicago to grab some treats for their way here and on the way home.

What a find this was! Crane’s in Holland offers all sorts of fruit pies and baked goods, both frozen and ready to eat in their café. I came for one of their gluten-free crisps, but was told they only come ready to bake frozen. The associate at the counter then suggested I try one of their gluten-free cinnamon rolls(they make those?) instead. I took her recommendation and added a hot spiced cider to my order. The roll was warm, gooey and covered in a sticky sweet icing, delicious! The gluten-free dough was the best part. Soft and textured in a way that made it hard to distinguish from a traditional flour based cinnamon roll. One of the best things I’ve eaten in a while.

I don’t really go to Holland very often but whenever I do, this place is definitely my favorite. The City Cristo(like everyone else says on here) is to die for! Their coffee is pretty good, not quite as good as something like Starbucks but still good. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly. The employees are nice and fast. No complaints at all! I didn’t try any of their pies but they looked very good! The sandwich I ordered was a little pricy($ 8.50). That is why this review has 4 stars. However, you get what you pay for! I would still recommend checking this place out!

I did not care for this place at all. My son ordered a hotdog which tasted microwaved and it had a super dry bun. I had soup which tasted like it was a pre-made frozen or canned variety. You could hear the microwave running and dinging in the back so you know that’s how they cook their food. It’s super nasty! I’m not sure how this place has such great reviews. The food is bland and WAY over priced. I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant in my life.

After spending time on Lake Michigan, came to town for breakfast. After a short wait in a long line we got in. Ordered the French Double Take. Two French toast, two sausages two patties and two eggs. Be careful. I took a bite of the French toast and then a baby crying snapped me back to reality. I had nearly finished the toast. I zoned out on the French toast! It was crazy. I lost all sense of time and space. That French toast is amazing. Everything was tasty. Great staff too. Our waiter Curt took great care of us. Thanks.

Started with an Iced Ci-Tea that I honestly wasn’t too crazy about, but then came the Veggie Sub, as simple as it sounds, which was SO good! White sub, Swiss cheese, onion, mushrooms, black olives, green pepper, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and pesto… Pure deliciousness. To follow that, I had a slice of apple crisp. Heaven on a plate! I will definitely visit again the next time I’m in Holland!

They have some good sandwiches. I ordered the pesto, ham and provolone cheese sandwich and it was delicious. I also ordered the hot spiced cider that was soooo good. I wish it was pasteurized so I could take it with me on the long journey home. Maybe in the future they will change this? For dessert I ordered the blueberry pie. I was not so impressed with the pie, especially for $ 4.25 per slice. We checked out their other products like the apple butter. Their products added ingredients like soy which deterred us from buying anything. We wish in the future they could keep their products more natural with less added ingredients. Service was fast and friendly. The shop is small inside with limited seating but offers outside street seating to help with overflow.

Tried the Turkey Cristo and it was delicious, their pies looked great also. We went here for lunch today. The donut chips were fantastic also. The last time I had a Monte Cristo sandwich was at Disneyland last year and was huge. This one is smaller but came with chips, one or two donut chips, and a small panini sandwich. The sandwich had apples in it which was interesting, but good. I’d come back here when in the area.

The blueberry pie was amazing!(And I don’t like pies! :)) It was warm, the consistency was pleasant and the crust was flaky and buttery. I’d get another slice in a second.

Full disclosure, we have not really eaten a meal here but I love their Hot Caramel Apple Cider and the apple cider donuts. They are a place I love to stop for a mid-afternoon snack while wandering around Holland’s downtown, a favorite activity of mine. Especially on a quiet autumn afternoon once school begins and I have some time by myself!

My girlfriend and I stopped by Crane’s at around 2PM on the first day of Tulip Time. We thought the crowd would have dissipated by then. boy were we wrong. This would have been an excellent place on any normal day. The business is local and you can tell they put every bit of care to their food as possible. The rows of pies, décor, smells, were all great. However, this business just wasn’t capable of handling the extreme crowds during Tulip Time. This is not their fault because Tulip Time week is definitely an outlier, but there were many, many people who looked dissatisfied with their service. I was very understanding, knowing that the servers were under huge stress, and so our experience was more amenable than others in line. We waited 30 min for the city cristo, which was turkey sandwich with apple butter bread, apple slices, powdered sugar, and some other things I forgot. It was very unique and quite excellent, but a little steep for $ 8.25 I believe. It came with chips and a pickle. Crane’s is local, so I will support the business. Next time I am in Holland, I will definitely stop by again. It was worth the experience!

Great sandwiches and great drinks. Try the«Dirty Diet Coke» minus the diet because that’s disgusting. Also had the Windmill Cookie Latte, which in my experience is better hot than cold. The most popular thing here is the City Crisco which is basically dinner and dessert stuffed between two pieces of bread. So good.

After reading numerous reviews I had to try the City Cristo sandwich and it was nothing short of amazing. The bread was sprinkled with powdered sugar and cooked to perfection panini style. The turkey and apples had the perfect combination of sweet and salty to satisfy my taste buds. The dish came with a side of kettle cooked chips and sliced pickles, which were a perfect side dish to compliment the sandwich. The entire meal was just the right size to fill me up, but not leave me in a food coma. There are many things in the coolers, pies and strudels, that look incredibly delicious, however I am unable to take one with me without it going bad in the car during my travels. I will definitely be back to try another menu item and hopefully be able to take one of the deserts with me at that time.

The great stuff: The City Cristo– absolutely delicious turkey sandwich with slices of apple and provolone on apple butter bread. Soooooo good. The Chicken Salad– simple, quality all white meat chicken salad. The coffee– smooth, rich, delicious. The menu– tons of variety. From desserts to drinks to sandwiches. Everything tastes great. The good stuff: Frozen pies and desserts available for purchase. Awesome pies by the slice from the warmer. The only improvement I would make: the apple pie was good, but all I could think was, «I bet this would be to die for if it was fresh from the oven.»

The City Cristo will change the way you think about a sandwich… a savory bite topped with powdered sugar?! Believe it or not, YES! Although I no longer live in Holland, I can’t walk visit downtown without stopping in for an apple cider donut… and some strudel… and a slice of blueberry pie al a mode. Basically what I’m trying to say is if you’re trying to figure out if you should come here for lunch I think you best get in here as soon as you can. You’re in for a fruitabulous treat.

Love the atmosphere and food! City Cristo is fantastic. Turkey, provolone cheese, apples, honey mustard grilled on apple butter bread topped with powdered sugar. Came with chips and I added homemade cider. Havent tried the blueberry pie yet that I got to go but the pies and streudels look awesome. Many to choose from. Friendly and quick service. Update: Blueberry pie was fresh and tangy. Excellent!

I’m going to jump on the bandwagon here and agree that the City Cristo is a game-changer in the world of sandwiches. All you really need to know is that it is served on grilled apple butter bread. Oh, and the turkey is really fresh. It’s just all around fantastic! The pie(cherry) was delectable. I wanted to buy all of their frozen pies! The cider is great too. This is one place you don’t want to miss if you are visiting Holland!

Stopped in on a Monday morning with my parents while we were on a short weekend getaway. For any pie lover, you should DEFINITELY stop by. It was a little early in the morning to start with pie so I opted for the apple cider donuts… I bought a half dozen and devoured three before I left the store. Guests can take a frozen pie home to bake at your leisure or you can pick up a slice. I took a piece of cherry pie with me and it was absolutely scrumptious! The crust was so flaky and buttery and the filling was amazing! I’m delighted to know that I can order a pie online, and will definitely send some to friends as gifts. I will be back to try some of the lunch items and more pie next time I’m in Holland or it’s vicinity.
