If you want to visit a restaurant where the employees rarely acknowledge you and you leave wondering whether or not you’ve actually gotten hepatitis, look no further. The good ol’ fashioned unwelcoming nature of this establishment is on par with the mediocrity they so proudly save on a styrofoam plate and tin foil. The eatery warrants it’s all two of its stars.

Been here a few times and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed. Now it’s called subs and more but mainly it’s just subs. Or at least that’s really the only reason you’d go here. I’ve had a couple different menu items and both were really good. Normally I like to just get the traditional sub sandwiches but this place has some cool specialty items that are worthwhile. I love the location too. It makes for a real easy afternoon of strolling through downtown window shopping and then grabbing a quick lunch. I felt that they were pretty price competitive too. Some of these locally owned places tend to have slightly higher prices to account for overhead but this place seemed to hold pretty equal.

I’ve been a resident of Holland, Michigan for a little over a year now. Holland is a very pretty town and I’m very keen on the local stores and restaurants in the area, I love the area. Therefore giving one of the local businesses a negative review is something I cringe at the idea of. Which brings me to my recent visit to Subs ‘N” More. The city staff do a rather fantastic job of events downtown, the«Fall Fest» being the latest one. Almost all the stores downtown were decorated by a carved pumpkin, cinnamon was in the air and they were offering hayrides at the farmers market. After a good stroll around the town we decided lunch was required. Subs ‘N’ More was suggested by the better half, having attended the closely located Hope College, guessing there would be a good chance of a table we could rest up with our 3 year old. And so there was. Sub ‘N’ More offers subs and pizzas, has quite a good menu which can be seen on the right inner wall, and is bustling. We get a table but there is a substantial que. There is a lively atmosphere. The establishment is clean and has a pleasant atmosphere. Better half orders the cheesy bread, I order a slice of pizza for junior and I get a meatball sub. Orders are taken quickly and you pay straight away, apart from that not much direction is given. I wouldn’t say the staff member who took my order was unpleasant or rude, just disinterested. Trouble begins to brew when I take 3 year old to potty. The mens is overflowing and I tell the staff immediately. It’s dealt with promptly but as I over hear one of the staff«it’s going down the stairs and I can’t stop it.» I feel for the staff member trying to cope with it, it’s a busy Saturday due to the Fall Fest event, and this is the last thing they need. The wait for the food is forever. We must have waited 15 – 20 minutes. My wife confirms the restaurant isn’t known for it’s speedy service. A shout finally comes that my order is ready, unfortunately we’re missing one order and there’s no sign or a cup for a drink. There’s none by the drinks machine. Ookaayy… I stand by the area where we collect our orders and I get looked at like«What’s your problem?» I say we’re missing cheesy bread and a drink. The initial order taker without another word goes off. Ookayy… A minute later someone else comes over leaving out an order and calling out a name. I mention to him I’m still waiting for cheesy bread, guy asks for the name my order was taken, I tell him, he goes looking for order, when he finally finds it he says«You’re order was called out.» I know that, I said. He checks the order, no bread on the order. He shows me the order like it’s my fault. «I ordered and paid for it!» I respond, and I don’t say it in a rude way, just firm, but the staff member gives a silent«you’re an a$$hole» reaction, but says he’s making my order. I mention a cup for a drink and one is slammed on the counter. I had ordered a large and I’m sure the cup is a medium, but my wife is looking at me with hungry eyes and with the staff I figure I should pick my battles. I do get my full order quickly enough. The food is good. 3 year old’s pizza is tasty and he devours it all, especially enjoying the green peppers. The cheesy bread is worth the wait, the meatball sub isn’t a thing of wonder, it’s standard fair but does the trick. I realize it was very busy. And I realize the staff we’re all young and a career at Subs ‘N’ More might not the the dream career. One of the staff members actually sat behind us we had a quick chat, and was very nice. But the wait kills the tasty food. And a bit of courtesy by the staff would go a long way. It won’t be more subs for me soon, but saying that, I would go back. It is a handy location and the food does the job. Just don’t expect wonders, and don’t be «hangry» or in a hurry.

I created a Unilocal account JUST to write this review. I had been here a couple times, mainly because of proximity, speed, and price. There sandwiches are average, nothing special. During my last visit, I had the chicken cordon bleu, and with minutes I was SICKTOMYSTOMACH! It was terrible and I will never recommend anyone to eat there. I went back to speak to the employees and they were extremely unprofessional about it, all they could say was that«We’re sorry you went through that, I’ll check the ingredients.» That was it, most insincere apology I’ve ever seen. I wasn’t offered my money back for the sandwich, they didn’t say they would tell the manager about it, nothing! Terrible experience, all I want to do is save someone from the terrible experience that I had. If you’re hungry for a sub, keep walking down 8th street jimmy johns isn’t much further ahead.

Shout out to these guys! They work so hard every day and it shows! There is great variety in the menu, and it is fast and fair priced. It’s also very filling which isn’t true of some other places.

As good as it gets! Subs-N More is a more casual affair to Crane’s in the City, but both are very excellent and caters to different demographics. My girlfriend and I shared a philly cheese-steak like sandwich for under $ 10. I loved how they toasted up the sandwich under the toaster contraption, and the service was excellent. Portions were excellent and service was very friendly. Definitely stop by Subs-N More!

We chose this place to grab a quick bag of sandwiches, chips and drinks during Tulip Time. It was a good sign that there were a ton of people lined up to get sandwiches and pizzas, but that also meant having to wait patiently for your turn to order … And then for your food to come. We ordered the Roast Beef Burner, Corned Beef, Italian Combo and the Chicken Club all as meals. The prices are reasonable and the portions are quite generous. It was really interesting watching the crew literally chop the sandwiches when they came out of the oven and I realized why when I bit into my sandwich — the bread was wonderful crispy! My family really enjoyed our selection of sandwiches. A quick note however — I don’t think the server was intentionally racist, but I just have to say not all Asians are foreigners. It’s always interesting having to answer the question of where I’m from with the Metro Detroit area and getting a confused look. Overall, great food, service is a bit slow when there is a full crowd.

First time here. Got the big veggie sub and it was delicious. Lots of veggies and bread was super good. I haven’t had a lot of subs but it may have been my favorite sub ever– Review over

Subs looked interesting but decided to go with the 7 inch pizza. I ordered extra cheese pepperoni and mushrooms. It was like the old Wendys commercial. Where’s the sauce. My coworker ordered extra sauce and you couldn’t find any. My extra cheese was a joke. The pizza tasted OK. I didn’t see any chicago deep dish pizza as soneone else remarked. The crust was thicker then thin but smaller then a hand tossed pizza hut or dominoes. I wouldn’t go back for the pizza. There’s better pizza in town; Googs for example. Pizza took 15 minutes versus the 8 minutes the«cool dude said». He was out of it! Pricing was very reasonable. I might go back for the subs.

Being from NJ, the roast beef, turkey and ham sub I had was not what I expected. They put the sub in the oven. Not a fan at all. I expect a meatball sub to be warm, but not cold cuts! I didn’t have the pizza, but it ‘looked’ good. Don’t plan on going there again.

Best grinders in Holland hands down. Huge selection and priced appropriately! I’ve been coming here on and off for 20 years and it never disappoints me. In the summer, get it to go and eat it outside. In the winter take it home and enjoy!!!

Probably should have 4 stars, because the food and service was excellent, but the tables & seating are very plastic. Still, the staff was friendly and the food came quickly, and it was good. Great place to grab hand-rolled dough pizza, or a great sub. I recommend the pizza.

I tried the sub on my first visit, and it was great… but my friend told me I *had* to try the pizza by the slice. I was pretty shocked. The slices are huge, the ingredients fresh, and it was the best deep dish pizza I have had here. I have only had better Pizza in Chicago and Boston, how did this place end up here? :D My only disappointment was no WiFi… really? At a sit-down restaurant?

I would give a zero star if I could. The kitchen is extremely dysfunctional, and the staff had a really bad attitude when we inquired about an order that did not come out after 40 minutes of waiting, then used the F-word behind the counter when everyone waiting can hear them. With two staff taking in orders and collecting the cash and one poor guy making all the food, no wonder they can’t get anything out. If you expect friendly staff or a meal within an hour, do not come here.

PIZZA! It’s called Subs-N-More but I love their pizza more. It is SO cheesy, mmm. This is a nice hometown casual restaurant. The food is consistently well made. I don’t care for the cheese bread — it was very crunchy, but maybe you would like it. Just writing this review makes me want to go there again tomorrow.

The subs at Subs-N More are great. I had a turkey and mozerella which sound pretty plain but it was excellent. I ordered a 3−½ inch sub and I’d say it was closer to 5 inch and the bread is wide not long and skinny. They toast their sandwiches and the exterior of the bun becomes flaky/crispy not dry and crumby. I kept trying to figure out what kind of bread it was; it was kind of like focaccia but yet still an italian sub loaf. The cuts of meat were really good as well. My son(age 14), got a 14″(see pic) and it was huge. He had 2 dinners from that sub. They have 3 different kinds of fries in addition to the standard potato chip sides. One person in our group ordered a personal pizza and it was bigger than a lot of personal pizzas I’ve seen before and it looked delicious.

Visited this restaurant early on a Saturday evening. Atmosphere is almost non-existent. Only interesting features of note is that the place is located in an older storefront downtown with a well-worn wooden floor. You basically walk up to a counter, place and pay for your order, and then they call your name when the food is ready. Chips are hanging on clips on front of counter area and drinks are all self-serve. Subs can be ordered in various sizes with the 14″ going for about $ 10. Ordered the Italian sub and the Vegetarian sub. Good balance between bread, meat,(and/or veggies), and condiments. All subs are toasted and both tasted really good. Most customers seemed to being ordering subs, but would have liked to try the pizza as the menu said the crust was homemade. Only real complaint was that the place seemed a little dirty. The soda machine needed to be wiped down, there was a pile of what looked like wood shavings or raw oatmeal under the first table we sat down at, and the restroom needed some serious cleaning attention. Because of the relative spartan nature of the space these issues seemed to come to the forefront. Perhaps next time we will order the pizza for takeout or eat at one of the tables sitting just outside of their front door.

I don’t know what it is about this place… it is a pretty bare-bones sub shop at first glance. I think the magic is in the bread and the way they toast the entire sandwich. Crispy, buttery, legit, enormous. Totally good.

I was not expecting too much here even after hearing glowing reviews because I figured reviewers in a smaller city would not know any better. Wrong. What I didn’t know about Holland Michigan is that they get a lot of people vacationing from Chicago. People from Chicago are going to be hard to please so my guess is that restaurants here are aiming pretty high. This review is based only on the Italian sub I had. The sub roll is flat, more like what they call grinders in southeast Michigan but if I had to compare it to popular grinder places like Bellacino’s I would say Sub’s-N More is much better. The Italian sub has a lot of meat and it’s great tasting, there are also round balls of Italian sausage. At most sub places around metro Detroit you would probably have to order double meat to get the amount of meat you get in this sub. I loved this sub. Comments: The bread is very fresh and I they sell it separately as well. There are 2 locations in Holland. 4.75 Stars
