This place was so cool! I really enjoyed all the old fashioned candies! We ordered a selection of goodies to try: dark chocolate non pareils(huge and my favorite!), dark chocolate raspberry cream(decent!), espresso cream(yum!), maple cream(Andy’s favorite!), cherry cordial, and cherry cheesecake truffle(yum!). Seriously very cute and worth a venture into during a stroll down cute McCute Holland downtown.

Was visiting New Holland and decided to let the kids pick out some candy at the Peanut Store. We told them to each pick out $ 5 worth but the girl behind the counter decided to play bad cop. After telling each of my kids not to touch anything we promptly left and got ice cream elsewhere. Bang up job guys!

Definitely a wide selection of candies I’d never heard of before, which is exciting for a sugar fanatic such as myself. The bars of chocolate were $ 4 – 6 a piece, which isn’t your average pack of M&M’s. However, if you can’t decide on what to get, try Kinder products. They’re delicious! Make your way to the register for the store’s chocolate and nuts. I ended up buying three 4oz bags because I wanted to try them all!

Best nostalgic candy selection and amazing chocolates! I only wish they were open later on weekends, it seems as though every time I am looking to score some chocolate after a dinner downtown, they’re closed! :(

My kids can’t go downtown without a trip to the Holland Peanut Store. There is a little something for every sweet tooth, but they carry a unique item for Lego Fans: the hard to find LEGOBRICKCANDY. They sell it in bulk across from the cash register. It is a crowd-pleaser for any Lego fan. If you have a favorite, hard-to-find candy, chances are you will find it here.

It was like stepping back in time. A pleasure to stroll through! So much to choose from. We bought salt water taffy and homemade peanut brittle. And the homemade peanut chocolate ice cream treats were«Heaven on a Stick». Wish we could have eaten more than one!

Mass amounts of taffy and other candies for $ 5/pound. Always crowded, super fun place to go for any age.

If you live in Michigan or have lived in Michigan and have not been here then I pity you! This little gem in downtown New Holland is both a notstalgic trip down the memory lane of candy for those who are old enough to remember things like Necco wafers and a treat for those who are looking to try and enjoy some candy gems from the past and some hand made treats. Yes, they have«old school» candy, that in itself makes this place worth the visit in my opinion, but there’s more awesome-ness that just nostalgic candy to tickle your taste buds. Aside from candy they carry an entire line of chocolate delicacies from truffles to chocolate covered potato chips that are made in-house. To experience the store, and to try the candy is worth the trip in. The only negative thing I have to say about the store, is that you will pay a pretty penny for the experience as it’s a little on the pricy side, but then again you’re not only paying for the candy, but you’re paying for the experience as well. If you’re planing on stopping in downtown New Holland, aside from New Holland Brewing, this is one other place I definitely recommend visiting while you’re there.

Yeah, this is pretty much the happiest place on the planet. The variety of handmade and prepackaged candy is breathtaking. They carry all sorts of cool international candy, too. The store is bright and colorful and so beautiful. But, honestly, the selection is surpassed by the service. This place is family-owned, and multiple generations work there. Everybody is so friendly, it’s hard to walk out of that place not feeling better about the world than you did when you walked in.

This family-run candy store has been a staple since my childhood. I still remember biking downtown to go here and Cobblestone hobby shop(baseball cards!). Almost every type of bulk or packaged candy or nuts you could possibly ever need, college flags on the walls, welcoming service, and a good selection of Dutch treats like babbelaars, licorice, peppermints, stroopwafels, and the like in addition to other imported and domestic candies. This is a must-visit if in Downtown Holland. Get Fabiano’s Nutty Paddle Pops from the freezer in the back corner.

As someone who likes old timey fun and candy this place was heaven to me. The Peanut Store had been recommended by some friends who live in the area so naturally I had to visit when I was in town last week. So many great childhood candy favorites – jaw breakers, Brach’s hard candies, Mary Janes, jelly beans, Squirrel Nut Zippers, flavored Tootise Rolls, etc – all in huge tubs easy to access(«easy access»: the ability to grab multiple fistfuls and shove them into your bag to be later weighed at the counter). And of course a wide variety of salt water taffy! They also carry a nice variety of novelty candies like pop rocks, big league chewing gum, and an array of stuff that looks like real things but are actually candy(see: candy cellphone). Also spotted a lot of Necco products that I thought only existed on old episodes of «Unwrapped» on the Food Network(see: Sky Bar). Chocoholics – fear not! They’ve got you covered too. A nice large glass case of chocolate covered treats awaits you should you choose to visit. I walked out with a white lunch bag full of candy for under 4 dollars and this included a candy bar(the aforementioned Sky Bar). There isn’t room inside the shop to sit and enjoy your treats but there is a nice stoop outside for sitting and sugaring out. According to the folks at the shop the Peanut Store has been around for over a 100 years. I send hope into the universe so that they may be around 100 more!

The salt water taffy melts in your mouth :) I haven’t found any salt water taffy in Chicago so this is my go-to place whenever I head back to Michigan. Definitely the place to check out for some candy cigarettes, those hard candies that fizz, soda-flavored Jelly Bellies, weird gummy flavors that you can’t find in generic stores, and those fruit-flavored tootsie rolls. I stock up whenever I’m in the area and take it back with me — a dentist’s nightmare and my dream! yessssssss…
