It’s my first time here; came to see some bands for a friend’s birthday. So we are in the music part. Music is good. Smoke EVERYwhere. Alas, this is why I am posting. We bought two simple vodka and cranberry cocktails. Hmm NOALCOHOL. When we went to ask the bartender if there was vodka in our drinks, he was NOT polite at ALL. We will never spend $ 15 on parking, $ 10 each to enter, and $ 18 for two«drinks»(pure juice) ever again. Done.

I used to come here on the regular back when they hosted Club Moscow on Wednesday nights. Back then, I did not have the obligations with school and work I have now, so partying was every other day for me back in the day. This is located off Cherokee, a few meters away from Hollywood Blvd. A seemingly small venue from the outside, the inside actually has plenty of room and two section with different things going on. One room has live bands playing, and a bar serving alcohol to those that appreciate live music. Another room hosts a DJ and electronica, and has several go-go platforms you can hop on. There is also a bar in this room, and the drinks are pretty reasonably priced. On gothic nights, they have live BDSM shows in the upstairs portion, but no photography is allowed. I believe gothic night is on Saturdays, and has a very interesting vibe. Since my early party years, Club Moscow has moved on to another venue. But I still hop into Boardner’s every once in a while for the nostalgia. It’s still the great bar it’s always been.

After the Powerhouse changed ownership or what not, my bud and I were in search of a new dive bar. We FINALLY found this place one night, randomly, and totally dug it! Great happy hour with cheap drinks and food, like 3 dollar domestic beers and 5 dollar cocktails. It’s dark, but clean, and has its definite regulars. Perfect!

Love it! I’ve been here 3 times in the last 2 months during weeknights, and I’m hooked! I wished I worked a little closer, that way I’d be there way more often! The happy hour deals are pretty cool, the have different deals each day.

Came here while on vacation from Chicago, using Unilocal looking for a «goth club» and this place popped up and doesn’t disappoint, Went on a Blue Monday night on Friday and if you’re from Chicago and have been to the original Neo, it totally gives off that vibe with the music, and bar patrons and types of dance. No one cares what or how you dance. Music selection on point with 80’s new wave, goth, etc. Church-like décor. Drinks fairly priced, and it was cool it was right off Hollywood Blvd. Whenever I come back to LA I’m definitely coming back to this place again. Love it.

Finally decided to come back to Blue Monday and it was pretty awesome on the dance floor! I love all the music they play. I did dock off some stars because of the drink prices. I don’t remember them being so expensive. $ 11 bucks for a whiskey and coke on a Monday night?! These cups are small and the majority is ice. I was also over charged on my card so be careful. The bartenders are also terrible, they’re not friendly or approachable. A smile won’t kill ya, guys! I would go back for the music and good vibes of the crowd, but I’ll stay away from the bar.

Great vibe. The drinks are good and they have pretty good food. The doorman was goofy as fuck, but you are in Hollywood!

What can i say, i love blue mondays! especially on industrial nights where i can get weird with the goth kids and do the arm twirl or pull out the fancy footwork and tear up the dancefloor in the 80s room. And if i need a break i can get hyphy upstairs with friends on the classic nintendo. TurboFlight74 with the high score on galaga, im coming for you!

I hate when people don’t serve Moscow Mule in a copper mug. It’s great if you to go there with a date cause you will look great, it’s so dark you won’t be able to see each other. They say it’s authentic, I say they can still take a mop and broom to things and clean it all up. Needs a facelift.

I was craving mac & cheese so I convinced my friends to come to Boardner’s. They have delicious mac & cheese that you can get with peas, jalapenos, chicken or bacon. The taste is unreal. Well, we went for the mac & cheese, but got much more than we expected. The bartenders and servers are wonderful, welcoming people, add to that the fact that they were playing my fave 80s songs! When Michael Jackson is in heavy rotation, you win me over! They were also playing an old 80s movie which my friends seemed to be fascinated with. Okay, the delicious mac & cheese took ahold of one of my friends and we came back the next day so she could get some more. And what is playing as we walk in… Michael Jackson?! You have got to be kidding me?! It’s like they knew! I have nothing bad to say about Boardner’s. It can get pretty crowded but I’ve only met with civil patrons at the bar. The food is delicious as are the«Long Islands.» There is a lot of history here and that is exciting. Watch the film«Ed Wood» starring Johnny Depp before you come here, and that will enhance your experience.

Just off the tourist drag of Hollywood Blvd is Boardners, one of Hollywood’s oldest and most historic bars. This is certainly the place for actual neighborhood locals. I love this spot, been hanging here for years. Service is great; Simona and John are always super friendly. Bottled beer only, but they have a pretty good selection. If cocktails are your thing, they make a damn good Manhattan. Also, get the nachos.

Oh the many nights I hung out here back in the day! A true Hollywood landmark. And well, there must be 3, maybe 4(unconfirmed) poems about this place in my new book! And the one great photo I snapped once.(officially launching on 3÷20÷15) Finger .45, Three Red Candles, Stevie B’s, and possible one entitled Reflections. Boardner’s is a very cool, very vibey, very fun venue off Cherokee Avenue in the heart of Hollywood. It plays host to several different events every week that will cater to every taste imaginable! I am a big fan of Club Moscow on a Wednesday and Bar Sinister on a Saturday. The drinks are definitely Hollywood pricing but are strong so worth it! The staff are friendly and the décor is amazing!

Proud to say I’ve truly honed my sixth sense for good tuck n’ rolls: Walking up to the Egyptian for the new Nick Cave movie, «20,0000 Days on Earth,» a mockumentary not to be missed, I strolled passed the entry to Boardner’s. I didn’t like the name so kept walking… then my gut told me to turn back ’round. Inside, this gorgeous little jewel is as dark as you like. «Basic Instinct» was playing on the screen and the smokin’-hot bartender, John, was waiting to pour my Tito’s. Food is delish here as well. I was craving a salad, which is weird, but I was totally impressed. The fact that it didn’t have big-fat-and-just-a-teeny-bit-crunchy croutons was its only flaw. I know. A salad isn’t really pub food, but this isn’t a pub, boys and girls. Speaking of, not even sure why this joint is listed under dive bars. Divey, it is not. Fabulous it absolutely is.(Not that dive bars aren’t fabulous.) Date Night. Gurrls Night. Bro Night. Gay Night. Dyke Night. This is your spot. Oh, and the patio out back? The cherry on the cake. I don’t even want to try and explain it. I’ll simply let it be the last bit of perfection you discover here. If it weren’t the 37-hour drive from Santa Monica, this would be my office.

Had a great time last night. I’ve come a few times to see bands perform. Last night was Alexa Melo and her band who were suppose to go on at 11:00 but were late due to the acts before going over. KEEPTHESCHEDULEBOARDNER’S !!! Sound is always excellent here. I hate it when it’s too loud, or buzzy. They got it dialed in here. The atmosphere on the back patio is very cool. There’s ample seating/standing room or places to «perch.» Smoking is permitted here as it’s open to the outdoors. I only wish they’d get a couple more beer options. Blue moon is their«best.» So, I grab a Blue Moon, talk to friends I haven’t seen a while in the outer alleyway(which has some seating) and people watch — my favorite past time. And there are some characters to watch here for sure. This place, in general has a lot to offer however, I have not tried food at their restaurant yet. This review is only based on the back patio with live music. Evidently, word on the street is that Boardner’s is a hidden gem of Hollywood. Next time I come for music here, I’ll eat at Boardner’s and update my review. I’m looking forward to it. :)
