Old fashioned on-tap, table shuffleboard, couches like you’d find in your best friend’s parents’ basement, outdoor string lighting, hammocks, dj spinning tunes, great company, and a refrigerator entrance… what more could you need?

If you can get in it’s supposed to be fun but what place has a 100 person line by 9:30 on a Friday? NOTHING is worth that.

Walked here after leaving a Kid Cudi concert. I like the vibe of this place. Very mixed crowd. Not pretentious. Drinks are decent but the food here? The food here is EVERYTHING. We had the shrimp tacos and shrimp grilled cheese sandwich. They far exceeded my expectations. Seating is limited, though. Barely found 2 seats around 11pm. I’d hate to see how packed this place gets afterhours.

Omg this is one of my favorite bars of all time. The décor is truly amazing. I haven’t tried the food, but it looks delicious. There are hammocks, live music, and the crowd is pretty awesome. Oh and did I mention the refridgerator you open to enter? Definitely give it a go if you haven’t gone yet.

I don’t review many places, but this joint is deserving. I saw some negative reviews and felt a duty to assuage the doubts of anyone reading them. The only drawback is: it does get packed by the end of the night(Like every bar you’ve ever been to, you unreasonable weirdos). The line can be long, and sometimes you’ll wait and not get in. Big surprise… You’re at one of the few worthwhile bars in Hollywood. Prepare accordingly, ya dingus. The people — if you’ll pardon me — are there for a good time, which makes for generally a fun crowd. The music is a great combo of classics, the dancing is a blast, the drinks are quick and stiff, the food is stellar, you can smoke in the back yard, and it’s always a good time.

Such a cool spot! I read about them in GQ and my work has an office a few blocks away so when I was down there I checked it out. Any bar where you enter through a fridge you know you’re going to have a good time. The décor is awesome and it’s fun just walking around and seeing the different rooms is fun. I got the pork belly sammie to eat and it was great.

The staff is incredible. So friendly and helpful. I had the best time. The drinks are good, the atmosphere is amazing. I had a phenomenal time, best bar I’ve ever been to. Walking through a refrigerator is so funny.

Whoohoooo!!! This place was nothing short of awesome!!! I’ve never had a snow cone with vodka until this night. Total nostalgia. You need to go outside to order these, which is nice, because you can stand out there and look above at the stars and enjoy the snow cones. Smoking is also permitted out here. Inside, there was a DJ playing some old school funk, and the dance floor was packed! They also have live bands on Mondays. Inside, drinks are strong. So brace yourselves if you’re a light drinker. Interior is totally cool: quirky, retro, and just too cool. Bathrooms are hidden along the walls, which also have hidden«cupboards» that you can put your drinks in. Place gets crowded, so remember to get here early if you want to avoid the queue.

Came here on a Friday night around 9:15 with some friends. Line wasn’t too long but we waited about 45 mins to an hour to get in. The guy waiting in line with us said it would be worth the wait. He told us to come before 9 and there wouldn’t be a wait. Several people were walking up and spoke with the bouncer. Within a few minutes they were let in, which prevented us from getting in sooner. The long moved very slowly. Once we got in I noticed the line was down the street, thank goodness we go there when we did. Immediately when you walk in it looks like an old garage with a fridge and cigarette vending machines. You open the fridge there are some stairs, beware its pretty dark and you may trip. Once you walk up you hear music and see several couches. You walk towards the hallway it leads you directly to the first bar. My friend ordered an old fashion, he didn’t really like it since it was on tap, he said it was strong but had no flavor of an old fashion more like water. We walked outside, aka the backyard, to the second bar where they have snowcones. I ordered a pineapple snow cone and my friend ordered a blackberry snow cone. I wished they had more flavor, like all snow cones the flavor straight to the bottom. The vibe, music and décor all 70’s. Felt as if we were at a relatives house having a house party. Very chill environment, everyone dancing. We had. Good time. I would have given them 4 stars if the wait in lone wasn’t so long. Definitely a place to visit again but definitely early. I hate waiting in line.

This place is entertaining and I do like it, despite the shitty DJ that Thursday night, he DID play good jams, he just doesn’t segue his songs very well. The security staff was great, helping out drunk people + the outside bartenders were SO nice! It was the bartender(inside bar) who get’s the 1-star review-the bartender who poured himself a double shot of Tequila and drank it in front of everyone. Then did a REALLY light-pour on my drink. RUDE. Like, if you are gonna do a shot, don’t pour a HUGE one for yourself in front of me and then make my drink a short pour to off set your drinking on the job! When I politely mentioned this, «Hey, I think this drink is sorta weak,»(insert sweet smile, not scowl) he grabbed the bottle of liquor and poured towards the drink in front of me and onto the bar and on me. WTF? Like, legit, WTF? I have been a bartender and even when people are LEGIT assholes, I was never this RUDE. Plus, it is against the law to drink on the job when you serve alcohol. I reported them to the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. I am sure since this dude cares zero about his job, someone more qualified and deserving should have this job.

Super/ultimate 70’s LA hipster bar. Enter through the refrigerator to a second story bar. Cool vibe and relaxed crowd n feel. Have HH til 8pm. Some decent specials and good pours on the liquor. Will be back to check it out again.

The atmosphere and uniqueness of the place are fantastic. The food is also good. My main qualms with the place are that they let in too many people and that the drinks are subpar compared to some of the other places nearby. Also, a Coors Banquet and shot of Jameson should never be $ 12.

My bartender literally said in front of me «I will shoot a Mexican, trump supporter all the way» in front of me. Super disrespectful!

This place is awesome but too small! I’m constantly rubbing against people! They let way too many people in at once and it’s literally too much sometimes. Bartender made me a screwdriver with the largest ice cubes I’ve ever seen and a splash of vodka drown in orange juice. After about 3 sips and $ 8 later, I finished my orange jui– I mean«screwdriver.» Two drink minimum is also a funny concept considering that they’re price point. Smooth play Cool place to kick it but unreasonable price for the drink you’re getting. Not planning on becoming a regular

Make sure to get here early in the evening(between 8 and 9) because if you don’t, there is a chance you’ll wait an hour or so in line OR won’t get in. It is a great variance you’re in. The entrance is fun, I was really confused the first time I came because nobody warned me. Once you’re in the bar, it will remind you of an old school basement. Couches, tables, chairs and more than enough room to hang out. There is also an outdoor area. At certain times through the night they have live entertainment — roller skaters on the roof. The bartenders are quick at both bars. Try their specialty alcoholic snowcone. It’s super cute and a staple of Davey Wayne’s so you must get one. I recommend this bar if you’re in Hollywood and if you have some $$ to spend. It is kind of expensive but totally worth it for a fun night!

This was my second visit and it was just as fun as my first. The first time I came was apparently with someone who comes here on a regular. Luckily we skipped the long line and went straight in. I noticed right away the unique style they had and fell in love with it. They have a 70’s theme(I believe) with an old record player, vintage clothing, and the neat part is the entrance door: it’s a refrigerator!!! Once inside this bar/lounge is pretty much a house with couches, chimney, and outdoor setting with lights. Drinks are great, the food is the best, and the vibes are just awesome. Not my normal type of place to go to but it’s definitely a good time!

It’s always a good time when your at Davey Wayne’s. This place is just so cute & adorable. I never had a bad experience & it’s a great place to take your friends from out of town. I mean come on, a refrigerator door for an entrance? That’s so snapchat worthy lol And don’t get me started on the food! That’s my biggest thing when I go hang out anywhere. The food truck in the back where me & my husband sat had great food! They had the best grilled cheese shrimp I ever tasted! It was so good that I had to come back & ask for the recipe! Nicely enough he gave it to me. YAY! :D The décor is adorable. They had a hammock. What? That’s my favorite! What could go wrong with hanging with friends drinking & chilling on a hammock? unless you fall off. I would always come back here, no complaints from me((:

Descent times at Davey Wayne’s, though really more due to the company I was with then enjoying the place itself. Two of us, no line at 9.30 and we still had to wait, I hate waiting and even when people left, he still made us wait, by the time we got in almost half an hour later, the line was up the street, insane. So, not a fan of the bouncers, or the bartender, or the drinks. Did not love the absinthe cocktail, or the one with watermelon or the boozy snow cone, all had horrible flavors, really not worth the money. No seating whatsoever, after walking around awhile and not finding a place to chill, we downed our drinks and moved on, so not worth the hype, fun to see once, not worth returning.

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. Or, in the case of Good Times at Davey Wayne’s, don’t judge a bar by the line of people waiting to get inside. This is a great spot to go start the night with a couple of good drinks in a cute bar. But, in all honesty, it’s not much more than that. I guess my advice would be: if you get there early and don’t need to wait in a long line, don’t hesitate to check it out. The drinks are good, food is yummy and the décor is very fun. BUT, if you get there late, you’re better off skipping the line and going to one of the many other bars in the area. Good Times at Davey Wayne’s is certainly not worth the hour-long line.

HAPPYHAPPYJOYJOYBIRTHDAYFELLOW UnilocalER!!! BACKGROUND: From Thrillist: This bar from the kings of the secret entrance(the Houston brothers, it’s the Houston brothers), is a jaw-dropping hipster ode to the ‘70s with DJs playing Fleetwood Mac, vintage beer cans, and hot chicks rollerblading. How to get in: There’s a garage, with one door. And it’s the refrigerator. STATS: Monday — Friday 5:00 p.m. — 2:00 a.m. Saturday — Sunday 2:00 p.m. — 2:00 a.m. Street parking Walking distance from Metro Not easy to find Inside/Outside seating Music from the 70’s EXPERIENCE: Fellow Unilocaler chose this shag carpet, turntable, Winnebago Trailer, macramé swing, outfitted in retro furniture of a watering hole as a place to unwind with a few friends and lots of libations in honor of his birthday. Good golly!!! Talk about hard to find. As I had no idea what to expect, I must have walked past the«front door» a hundred times. Located on a small residential street, I was beginning to think Waze took me on a wild goose chase, until the bouncer asked me if I was looking for Davey Waynes. Why yes, yes I am. He escorted me through a one car garage displaying all kinds of Knick Knacks from the 70’s. Boy!!! Talk about flash back! I didn’t see a «typical» door, just a vintage fridge door. I pulled the handle to open it and walked into a time capsule. Up the shag carpeted steps I found myself in what most living rooms probably looked like back in the day. Kind of felt Alice was going to come out from the kitchen to ask how my day went at school. Off to the left and outside is a backyard. With Astro Turf, couchy couches and chairs, coffee tables, a couple macramé seats, and a Winnebago Trailer that serves up Scooby snacks. Back inside and down a long hallway of carved wood walls is a bar serving up brew and mixed drinks. This long bar with retro hi-chairs keeps the 70’s motif going; Beer tabs on a fridge door, vintage beer cans decorate the walls behind the bar, etc… Once everyone arrived, with drinks being consumed, food orders were placed, picked up and shared, all the while watching roller skaters disco it up the roof of the Winnebago. One thing is for sure, their food is definitely not from the 70’s. I ordered their grilled cheese with avocado and bacon. Not sure what I was thinking, avocado au natural, with spoon in hand scooping the insides of this thick skinned fruit, or guac is how I roll. Needless to say, I didn’t particularly care for it and ended up adding it to the food to share plate. As the evening wore on, more and more peeps showed up and it began to get quite crowded. So, if you don’t like crowds, remember the saying, «in early, out early.» We had Good Times at Davey Waynes, hope you do, too.
