Goldensun Tan

This is the best tanning salon EVER. I judge a tanning salon first off by the customer service which is great here. Tom and Kyle are always so funny and friendly they always make me smile. I’ve been to tons of salons in different states and have honesty never been to a tanning salon that didn’t have at least a couple snobby, stuck up girls that work there. Like somehow working at a tanning salon makes them better then everyone else, anyways… you won’t find any at Goldensun even the girls who work here are super nice. Secondly, I judge it by how clean it is and they are always spotless (especially the bathroom, oddly enough it always smells sooo good lol) The prices are slightly high but they have a groupon for half off your first month for new customers. That’s how I found them and I have just kept going because I know I won’t find another salon like it, and it’s literally right next to my gym and close to my work so it’s a win win win. Try them out you’ll be glad you did :)

Tom and his son Kyle are awesome people! Friendly, remember your name, and know their stuff. I have been coming here for years, and their SunCapsule stand ups are awesome. I never get burnt, and always leave with a really nice tan. The ONLY complaint I have is the old radios… would LOVE if they put in new ones that had an AUX cable so I could jam out to my own music. Tip: Bring a CD if you don’t want to deal with crappy FM quality stations. The tanning booths are always spotless and they run a great shop.

So I don’t live nearby anymore so I’ve only use this place a couple of times but five minutes ago was one of those times and I have to say that I really enjoyed the service there. Titus, the owner’s son, is the one who helped me out. He was very nice and very helpful. He’s pretty easy on the eyes too;) apparently I purchased a 10 pack package back and 06 and still had seven of them left. Most places put an expiration date on these type of services but my spray tans were there for me to use. usually when I call or a gone in those few times I deal with the dad and he is great as well.

I have been tanning at golden suntan for at least 7 years since I have owned my Dance/​Fitness studio around the corner Sensual Souls and I loooove it! Tom the owner and his son kyle are suuuuper friendly, greeeeat professionalism!!! & the salon is always clean!!! I would refer them to anyone!!!

It took me a few trips to warm up to this place. The first few times I wasn’t sure on the customer service, however I’ve now come to understand the quirky owner and his son is always extremely nice. They aren’t cheap, which I was hoping that their prices would be a bit cheaper due to the area (they are about the same price as any of the nicer places in Downtown/​Sobe). However, their high powered stand up is certainly high powered, great bulbs. They also offer free goggles and a jolly rancher in the rooms :)
They are currently running a special that you can purchase 6 sessions for the price of 4, which came out to about $ 75 for the 9-​min high power stand up. They also have unlimited packages, which I haven’t yet purchased.
Most importantly the salon is clean, the bulbs are strong and they have good hours of operation:
Monday — Friday 10am — 10pm
Saturday 10am — 8pm
Sunday 12pm — 6pm
They were open the day before Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve this year with only slightly shorter hours, which was great for getting a tan before the holidays. The owner also mixes his own tanning lotions — I love the hot tingle lotion they have, but I believe he also makes mild tingle and regular.
For those interested in spray tanning they also have the Versa, which is the automated spray booth. Their website also mentions hand airbrush, however I haven’t yet asked for that in store. Walk ins are accepted and the wait times usually are not bad. There is only one 9 minute booth, so there can be a few people waiting during peak times.

Go here when I need to prep for summer or a trip.
Staff always seems to be happy to be there and to see you.
Very comfortable and they also care about your needs — I really never want to be red!
The owner is often there and sometimes works the front desk, also a great experience and never seems like he’s put out to help you. I see where the staff gets their attitude from…
They have lots of add ons, and they only talk about them when you ask — never pushy.
Nice referral packages as well when you tell a friend to come in. Plus a free tan in your birthday month — nice touch.

Clean. Friendly staff. no pushy salespeople trying to get you to by lotions or packages. Goggles, towels, mints, deodorant all included. No time limits to get undressed/​dressed. Strong, high end beds, (stand up and lay down *many levels* as well as spray and custom hand spray by appointment). Low prices. Pay per tan if you like. No membership required! Great place to get a base before the beach.

I’ve worked in tanning salons, and I have a warm place in my heart for the tanning industry. That being said, about a year ago I realized I couldn’t ignore the damage tanning was doing my skin and my eyes (WEAR YOUR GOGGLES LADIES!!). So I’ve spent a good chunk of my time now researching and trying different methods of spray tanning.
Spray tanning has come a LONG way in the past 6 years, and I actually prefer it now to UV tanning because I can get the same (or better) color, faster, and safer. A while back I was working at Sun Tan City in Nashville and fell in love with the Versa. So when I moved to South Florida I checked the Versa by Magic Tan website to find a local salon, and just my luck there was one near by! Enter Goldensun Tan.
And yes, they have a Versa booth… but instead of having the Versa solution, they use their own. Now, I’m not sure who the owners are, and what qualifies them to create their own spray tanning solution but I was very disappointed not to have the solution I was used to. The normal Versa tan offers a «clear» and «tinted» option, either in light, medium, or dark. The only difference between the clear and tinted, is that the tinted has an instant bronzer that washes off after your first shower, leaving you with what you would’ve had if you’d gotten the clear. I think the tint is slightly orange-​y, whereas the clear is a nice golden bronze.
I didn’t get a terrible tan from the «Versa» at Goldensun, but it wasn’t what I wanted, and it’s unsettling how sketchy it is that they use their own homemade solution. They also provide a solution, which looks like windex, for you to spray on your body prior to the tan, they said it balances your pH levels — I opted to use the Versa brand Amplifier gel that I had gotten at STC.
Obviously I can’t review their UV tanning options, since I didn’t use them, but my guess is since they so freely modified the Versa, that their UV beds may be modified as well. Goldensun is also kindof cluttered, and messy, so I would question the quality of the bulbs in the UV beds.
If you are looking for sunless tanning options — find a tanning salon that offers a legitimate Versa Tan, or somewhere with the MyMist Mystic booth.

Im in DESPERATE need of sun, so I found this place (thank you Unilocal directory!) and rushed over. Its clean, the girl at the counter was nice, and I got an unlimited package for $ 39/​mo. Not Bad.
I got the 20 min bed cause its the cheapest, and for my 1^st time only did 15 min. I will totally have to do the full 20 min to get anything.
Maybe I can upgrade to a better bed?
I was desperate and it worked. So, Im going to get my GTL on. Thanks Jersey Shore for even giving me that to say. ;)
