I love this place, not just because my friends own and run it, but because it’s clean, classy and awesome! The design is pretty clever. People tend to follow the rules, which means strong management. The staff are nice, well-dressed and helpful. For those tourists visiting, this is defiantly one of the best night spots in Los Angeles with great DJ line-up. Did I mention the sound system! :)

Playhouse is a cool club anyways. But Mondays are off the chain.

Had some friends in town from back in the day when I used to work in the nightclub industry so we thought we’d do like the old times and go to a club. Let’s just say, I was told we had fun, but I remember walking in and that was that– a little too much happy hour. I was told it was a good crowd, not as «clubby» and pretentious as a weekend crowd. Apparently some old guy was bothering me the whole time, so I’m glad I «escaped into my happy hour brain». I’m told there was also a guy throwing dollar bills off the balcony, so that’s always a plus, if you’re looking to pick up some loose change or pay to check your coat. As per my receipt, found in my back pocket the next morning, prices are regular club priced drinks, about $ 12, unless maybe you get the rubbing alcohol on the rail. The Monday night DJ line-up is pretty much amongst the best I’ve seen since being in Hollywood. They have some pretty big names come out each Monday, like Sander Kleinenberg, who was recently there. There’s a cover $ 20 maybe, but sign up for the guest list or befriend them on Facebook and you’ll likely find some promoter on there trying to get people on their guest list. Or just be a female, which always helps. All in all, a pretty cool place to have this going on on a regular ol’ Monday night.

Monday nights are my favorite time to go and they bring a lot of house DJ’s!

Honestly, the only time you should come to Playhouse to really enjoy what the club has to offer is on Mondays! If you are a fan of deep house or progressive you should definitely check out Monday Night Social. They have amazing DJs each monday night and the club gets full, but not to the extent of weekends. Lines are shorter, the crowd is more down-to-earth, you don’t get any of the LA «I”m a celebrity» bullshit… instead lots of LOVE and house =)

I came to the Playhouse for the first time on Monday for Monday Social, and was debating whether to write my review for the Playhouse club or for Monday Social. But skimming the reviews for Playhouse, I saw a ton of complaints about long waits, rude bouncers, shady promoters, and I encountered none of that. I attribute that to the fact that I was there for Monday Social, so my review goes into the Monday Social bin. First of all, I never attend a club event without a presale ticket. So I rarely have to wait, and on Monday at around 11:30pm I walked right in to Playhouse. It was a lower-key night; the headliner wasn’t as well-known as some of the other DJs that Monday Social brings in, so the place never got packed. I absolutely loved it that way… I had plenty of room to dance, and by 1:30 the stilettos had dropped like flies from the dance floor, and all that was left were those of us in flats or Chuck Taylors. You can dress up or down for a night like this and not get much flack from the people behind the rope. And on a Monday, you’ve got the ragers but also a hefty dose of people who don’t come out except for a DJ they want to see. This was definitely the case for Stefano Noferini. Late into the night I saw one guy dancing up a storm turn to his buddy and say«He’s killin’ it! This is why I fuckin’ love Mondays!» — I commented on his unbridled enthusiasm and he said, «And I’m the DD tonight, too! I just love this music!» These are the kind of people you want to party with, and Monday Social — not Playhouse — brings them in. I’m a fan.

I definitely recommend this place to any house music lover who is looking for something to do on a monday night. I recently saw Michael Woods and purchased presale tickets online. The promotor actually recommended purchasing the tickets online because not only does it gaurantee entry but you skip the line and go right in =) The venue was not that impressive but then again I just came back from Vegas so maybe i was expecting a little much. hehe. Other then that the layout of the club is definitely different, theater style is what it reminded me of. The place was packed with fun dancing people and had a really great night here overall, I definitely will be back the next time im off on a tuesday cuz you can party here til 4am! There is also parking everywhere and very close so dont worry girls you dont have to walk too much in your sky high heels =) See ya on the dance floor people!!!

I guess you can say that I like to party since I’ve been to 3 Monday Night Social Events at Playhouse. When I first came here, I didn’t expect such a packed venue on a Monday Night! Apparently, Playhouse is the place to be on Mondays. Feels like a mini rave since they have a lot of lights, lasers, and when a DJ drops a sick beat, they’ll blast the fog at the crowds. Music: The music on Monday nights is amazing! They have a lot of House DJs spinning. I got to see Bingo Players, Hardwell, Nicky Romero, and Alesso. If you’re into the scene, Monday Night Social is where it’s at! There’s always a good DJ who knows how to get the crowd all riled up! Crowd: Lot of guys in the beginning, but more girls trickle in as the night progresses. I saw a lot of Armenians and Persian guys, but I also did see a mix of Whites, Asians, and some Hispanics.

Damn. Who parties on a Monday NIGHT?!! Apparently a lot of people who are in to House/Techo all that stuff. I can’t tell the difference. However, coming here on a Monday night, this place was PACKED. And it was still packed when we left around 1. The place closes at 4AM! There were a lot of guys here. More males than females. Also there seemed to have been a lot of white and indian guys. The music was good, and the dance floor was a pretty good size. There were go-go girls dancing around the club. And sometime during the night, there were tons napkins that rained down on us from the ceiling. Later during the night, there was a big rush of cold steam blowing on us. You couldnt’ see what was in front of you. It felt like you were standing in a tidal wave. Fun!

Looks like I’m going to be the one to rain on this parade. Went here last night after hearing good things about Monday Social @ Playhouse and wish I would have stayed at home, had a beer, and play Madden instead. ARRIVAL: at 11:30p, got straight in(which should have been a sign to leave cause this is PLAYHOUSE we’re talking about)…and then…$ 25 cover? huh? on a Monday? I guess… CROWD: 3:1 guy/girl ratio, possibly worse. GRIMEY looking dudes… fair share of 40 – 45 year old creeper guys. There were some very good looking girls but they seemed to all be there with their dudes…2nd time i’ve been to Playhouse and seems like everyone there brings sand to the beach! MUSIC: All House music, which is fine and usually a really good time… but it just wasn’t vibing right last night, they must have just had a whack DJ for the night. DEPARTURE: Couldn’t have come soon enough! Moral of the story = If Monday Night Social is suppose to be the best Monday club event, then Mondays just weren’t made for clubbin’.

RELOCATEDTOTHEPLAYHOUSE — No longer at Nacional. At damn near 14 years Monday Social has been the longest running LA weekly of its kind and I was happy to have shared a couple of those. Freddy Be and Mick Cole(aka The Bud Brothers) book solid techno talent that you just won’t find anywhere else. Think Bookashade, Dave Dresden, Stanton Warriors, etc… They have amassed an über loyal following even with the relocation from Nacional and Louis XIV before that. I make sure to never miss it when I’m in town.

It’s Monday! Yaye! Time to continue the weekend of partying! «what?!? That’s cracked out!» But seriously folks, The Bud Brothers really know how to throw a party! I attend the Monday Night Social once every couple of months. And this event has been going strong for over 12 years — indicative of a quality promoter! They have really quality guest DJ’s that come from all over the world. Most likely these DJ’s will have played at, or will be playing at, a larger more expensive $$$ venue on the weekend. But now you can come and see them here for much cheaper! If you get on their guest list: you can get in for only $ 5! Peace out! «House music all night long!!!»

The bud brothers have been promoting this kick-ass Monday night event since the mid-90s. I used to go back in the Day to good old Louis xiv and just went to the new loc. Yeah, Nacional sucks hard on most reg. nights, but they’ve kept the old vibe — at least last Monday was chill. (they’ve maintained the old-school real community feel, not some flavor-pill, phyelp, social network, we are the world-move-online«comm»). Peace.
