There’s no coincidence that the phrase Fish happens sounds very familiar with the phrase Shit Happens. Because when it comes to this truck they’re one in the same. They have a Guinness beer-battered fish and chips and I have to say, I haven’t had this bad of fish and chips in a long time. So my hat’s off to you, Fish happens truck, for reminding me what the bottom of the barrel in terms of Fish and chips can be. The taste was just bad all around. Soggy and not very hot and worse of all is that it cost over ten bucks. How is that even possible? I could go to Lucky Baldwin’s and get a much larger portion of fish and chips, better in quality and actually get a pint of Guinness for what I paid for this terrible quality dish. They had shrimp tacos and I agree with many others who have pointed out that these are mighty small. In fact, the value of your buck is not something you get with this truck. Not with the quality or quantity of the food. So yeah, Fish happens indeed. At least in this case do what you do when you step in it. Brush it off and hope you don’t step in some again…

I only tried the TIGERSHRIMPTACO from this truck. Loved the shrimp, but the rest of the toppings were just alright. Would stop to order one again if there’s no line.

I ordered the Honey-Soy Salmon today and while it looked a little small, it definitely left me full. The food came out quickly and I will second that their hot sauce is pretty darn amazing. Now, $ 12 for lunch is a little steep, but then they add tax to it so it came out to $ 13.17 for lunch. From a truck. That being said, it was one of the best lunches I’ve had in a long time; truly delicious and cooked to perfection. I just don’t know when I’ll be able to throw down $ 13 for lunch again. Trucks usually include tax in their posted prices. My suggestion is for them to lower prices a dollar, include the tax, and watch the repeat customers line up.

Had the grilled tilapia po-boy and it was delicious! The hot sauce they have is amazing too. They’re also very friendly. Yum yum.

I happened to be on Radford today and I happened across this truck. Since I happened to have the time to go over and say hello, and as it happens, Kennedy(the owner) happened to remember me. Perhaps because I happened to write a poor review. He happened to mention that they are adding more shrimp to the Po’ Boys these days. I happen to think that this a happening idea. But. since i already happened to have had my lunch; I didn’t happen to order one. So I am leaving the 2 stars for the time being, but next time I happen to see them, I am giving them another shot. And as it happens if the sandwich is as happening as it could be I will happen to re-rate them.

Absolutely really good. The first time I ran into this Food Truck was in a late night party out in Hollywood. There was no line but I could smell something good frying out of the Truck. Sure enough I decided to order a Cajun Style Fish Burrito with some Garlic season Fries. Wow, the burrito what out of this world, so much flavor, it continued to make my mouth water bite after bite. They sure weren’t shy about the amount of fries they gave me, and the amount of garlic they put on it. Unfortunately, this truck is always in the Hollywood area most of the time, but I guess it’s worth the drive to go out there again.

I stumbled upon this Creole fusion truck on the UCLA campus and thought it might be worthwhile to take a lunch break along with a number of people that were standing in line. This truck specializes in fish, shrimps and chips served in a variety of ways, so I ordered their Tiger Shrimp Po’Boy Sandwich($ 8) with a side of Garlic Fries($ 3). The sandwich came with 8 shrimps coupled with iceberg lettuce, mayo, tomato, and Creole sauce arranged in between a soft baguette. The baguette looked like a large hot dog bun and was blackened on the inside and soft on the outside. The shrimps were pretty tasty when combined with the Creole sauce and the toasted part of the bread. The ingredients were noticeably fresh, but the use of lettuce and quality of the bread was too cheap to justify the price. I really enjoyed the Garlic Fries as the garlic flavors were nicely cooked into a mouthful of pommes frites which came with a spicy dip that added a tangy spicy flavor. I probably would not get the sandwich again but the fries were very addictive. Service was friendly and knowledgeable but each order took at least 10 – 15 minutes to arrive. I heard several complaints from people about the wait which was eating away the time they have devoted for lunch. Overall, it was still a better lunch option than eating at the campus establishments which is not saying very much. 2.5 stars as a one-time wonder. I don’t think I would be interested paying them a second visit.

Ordered the salmon entrée, which was awful. I don’t mind raw salmon, but I was expecting grilled salmon, not a half grilled, half raw piece of salmon. I also had to wait a while to get it, which you would think would help the salmon be fully cooked. I should have ordered the standard taco, which just about every truck has. My friend got the shrimp taco which tasted much better than the salmon entrée. Definitely don’t really recommend the salmon… I think they try to make the dish a lot fancier than it really is.

I had the pan-seared tilapia and it was delicious! Got it at UCLA for lunch, it’s a bit more expensive than the other trucks, but the food was higher quality. Quantity was good, not a huge amount of food, but definitely enough to fulfill most appetites. I’m definitely trying their other items, when I get a chance.

Saw them outside on Ontario St at the Media Center North complex in Burbank while on my way to work, and decided to try it out ! Got there at about 12:10pm, and there wasn’t much of a line, because it was their first time coming to this location. The cashier was very friendly, and since there wasn’t much of a line, the food was coming out really fast. I asked how the Shrimp Po’ Boy sandwich was, and they said it was good. Was happy to hear, cause I haven’t had a great shrimp po’ boy sandwich in about 10 years, last time was in Louisiana. One of the chefs even came over, and said«it’s the real deal» and smiled. I also like how they had Sidral Mundet(apple soda). ordered: * shrimp po’ boy sandwich * sidral mundet soda the Shrimp Po’ Boy sandwich was pretty tasty — the french roll was *really* soft, about 8 tiger shrimp in the sandwich. It wasn’t *exactly* what I was looking for(hoping the shrimp were battered and fried), but was still pretty tasty. The creole fries looked good too, but I can’t eat too much, so I opted not to get it. Looking forward to trying it again. If I could, would give it 3.5 stars.

I was annoyed enough that I felt the need to Unilocal this asap. Customer service with new food trucks is usually quite friendly since brand loyalty matters. Usually you can gauge the wait by the line and once you order, the food comes pretty fast. A lot of food trucks even apologize for slow service or something off and offer a small token like a free drink. Often the gesture is so above the minor offense that my loyalty is enforced. Not so with Fish Happens. Only a few people are waiting to order so I assume the wait shouldn’t be too bad for two fish tacos. Tacos are the epitome of fast food. About twenty minutes in I ask about my order, as do other people. She tells me she will check on it and then goes back to taking orders. As I wait I realize I am going to be late if I don’t get the food soon. I ask again about my order to be told they were working on it. They start giving out fish tacos to people who ordered after me. I point this out and they say something about their system.(apparently random order?) The New Yorker in me just couldn’t take this anymore. I tell them I cant wait any longer and to please give me a refund. The girl agrees but then just holds my ticket. So I tell the cashier that I’d like my refund and she tells me to wait. Some guy threw together my tacos in the back and shove them at me. At this point I lost my appetite but they were clearly unwilling to refund me even though they could easily have given the tacos to another customer. I don’t know exactly how long I waited but it was at least 40 minutes AFTER placing my order. The worst part? My friend and I tried the tacos and agree they were subpar. The tortillas were cold, since it was hastily thrown together, and the fish though generous in quantity, tasted dry and previously frozen. 2 stars for the tacos, 1 star for service *Quick update — The truck messaged me to apologize for my experience and another chance. I doubt I’ll be returning since I can’t wait an hour for lunch but to be fair I thought I’d share the whole story.

Shrimp burrito was AMAZING! Although it does take a while for them to cook, it was well worth the wait! The hot sauce they have is out of this world, it made the food taste that much better! I will definetely be going back when they return to Downtown LA!!!

Fish Happens! is such a cool name for a truck. I’ll have to try them again. I was hanging out in Hollywood and coming out of a bar or two and decided I was in the mood for fish at 1AM. You would have to be in the mood for fish or shrimp to order most of their items – entrees, sandwiches, tacos, burritos, etc. Otherwise there are sides like fries, beans, toast, sautéed veggies, etc. I asked the person, who appears to be the owner, about what he would recommend that best represents Fish Happens! So I took his suggested and tried the gourmet salmon burger. It’s their signature dish and it was good. I enjoyed my chat with him and he seemed to know a lot about other food trucks and such. With so many other food trucks out there you just have to know. I think it’s really bold to go fish and shrimp.

Pluses: russet potato garlic fries weren’t bad. Slightly thick cut. Salmon burger is reasonably priced. Neutral: salmon burger was okay. Well seasoned, but let’s face it, a well seasoned salmon burger, while in itself a laudable job, does much to hide the fact that the fish you’re getting is only so-so… and the fish was only so-so.(given how expensive salmon is these days, I wasn’t expecting any beyond so-so fish). Negatives: it took so long to serve us food that the guy even said«10 to 12 minutes»… of course we didn’t know this til AFTER ordering so we were sorta screwed, but hell we have reasonable lunch breaks so we could wait. And waited. The other food truck my friends hit got their food, finished, and then came back to see what the hell was taking us so damned long to get our food. So they went back to the OTHER food truck to order dessert. Got it and started eating. Meanwhile, those of us who’d ordered from Fish Happens waited. Waited some more. Dodged a few seagulls sniping us from above. Waited. And oh yeah, they didn’t have internet so they couldn’t take credit cards Somewhere along the line we got our food, but it took so long that senility set in and I can’t remember exactly how long it was.

Fish Happens Truck Owner & Operator Relmo INC Truck ID# CA402048 CA40204 5442 E. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd Lynwood, Ca 90262 Approximately 2am after Drai’s Hollywood had closed I noticed the Fish Happens Truck sitting across the street. Being hungry and curious, I decided to check it out. Went over and ordered the Fish Nuggets & Chips. The lady who I ordered from was great. The order was taking some time and after waiting for a while & noticing that one guy who ordered a Salmon Melt came & went, I inquired again. The lady was great again, checked back & then asked what sides I wanted. Well, being a traditionalist I said malt vinegar. She inquired & said they only had red wine vinegar & I said that was fine. Waited longer… waited…waited. Inquired again & the cook(pictured) asked me what sides I wanted & I said malt vinegar. He asked if I wanted ketchup, I said vinegar. Others were lined up behind me & someone asked me what I ordered so I said «Don’t order the fish & chips because they don’t know how to make them». The cook came to the window and became quite curt with me, which was appalling as they are a service entity. He stated: You haven’t tasted them yet” and then mumbled something under his breath at which a few people took offense. The lady tried to straighten things out again & said the fish was made with halibut & was quite good. I dared not say anything again as I was starting to wonder if the cook would do something to my food. When I was handed my order, I left promptly, and can honestly say I will NOT return to that truck, mostly because of the bad attitude of the cook. My honest assessment was: 1. I had 3 condiments included(only asked for one) so that was wasteful. 2. There was more bread on the halibut than halibut and the halibut was room temperature not hot. The breading was soggy & not crisp. 3. The fries were not crisp & were more the consistency of mashed potatoes that had been fried. Too bad… more so about the cooks attitude than anything else. I realize there is some controversy about restaurants verses food trucks. Intolerable attitudes of employees does not help in any cause. The attitude needs to be corrected in this case.
