The owner is very nice and does a very good job. Prices are reasonable. Can’t go wrong.

They older man there is a master barber. My hair always looks great and trendy. Very quick service even on weekends and holidays.

So I don’t ever usually give bad review but I guess I wasn’t so lucky here.
Sang is sweet and is native Korean, I went in because I wanted my Japanese straightening to be retouched since my roots were coming out. I had done it at Jospeh Nero salon originally they are great there but a little off my budget. Sang said she could retouch my roots and it would cost me 250 and even add keratin. When I got there she saw how much hair I had an increased it to 300. I said okay that’s fine.
I felt it was very rushed and the procedure wasn’t followed as it was when I went to Joseph. She didn’t even wash my hair initially. When she added the chemicals it smelled bad which is expected but not this bad. I don’t think she washed it well either because I had rotten egg smell on my hair for weeks until I dyed my hair and did several treatments to get the smell off. It was sickening.
I needed up paying 335 because I left her a tip, and for nothing because the treatment didn’t end up lasting.
I was disappointed :(I travelled all the way over there and expected something better.
Perhaps for other things the salon is good but not for what I went for.
If you want Japanese hair straightening go to Jospeh Nero. They are great there. They evaluate and test your hair.
I recommend them.

Posting a pic. I really am not one of those women who loves or goes to the salon once a month to get her hair done. Massages and facials, yes. Salons not so much. That being said Sang always does a great and meticulous job (as the other user mentioned). She spent 1.5 hours on my hair despite my hair being thin, flat/​straight, oily on top and Asian. I think I should visit more than I do. I’m embarrassed to say how many times I go, but my excuse is having thin straight Asian hair doesn’t exactly make me love going to the salon before Sang because it just didn’t come out right. Thanks Sang!

I had the opportunity to get my hair straight Japanese style yesterday 9÷2÷2015 i read as many write ups in Unilocal i wanted to choose the best place i decided for
SK HAIR STUDIO what a great choice the owner sang had the salon closed on Wednesday but that was the only day i available since today i’m leaving in a cruise to Europe she told me she can do it she expend many hours to make sure it was perfect when i left her salon i fealt so pretty specially i have very curly hair. I thank her very much for making me feel and looking so pretty i put in Facebook and had so many complements and likes i felt very satisfied this is the place to go when I need a touch up i really thanked sang for a wonderful hair straighting!!!

I visited this place two times. The first visit was fine. A young lady gave me a haircut in about twenty minutes, after one hour’s wait. The second visit was on a Sunday, and the young lady who gave me the first haircut was not in. Instead a woman of over 50 years old cut my hair. She doesn’t seem like a professional barber, and the way she cut my hair was quite amateur. The hairstyle she cut was not the one I asked. I don’t even think it is a real hairstyle! Now three months passed and my hair is still a mess, with quite irregular and unmanageable length difference. $ 40 for such a bad haircut is totally a waste. I will never go back to this place ever. If you want to have a haircut at this place, I suggest you pick a barber that can speak English, and do not simply accept the one they give to you. I strongly doubt that the old lady who cut my hair doesn’t know how to cut hair at all. She really looks like a next-​door grandma who has nothing to do on Sunday and helps out in a barber shop to earn some extra money. I wish you won’t have the bad luck as I did.

Sang worked in my hair; she did an amazing job! Best layers I ever had. She’s very meticulous.

It was well worth it! Took about 4 hours total. My hair is thick and a little wavy and it took the curl well. My friends had been telling me about Sang for years, and i finally went for keratin treatment and also had my roots touched up.
Sang did a great job, very thorough and when i asked her what she thought about coloring all of my hair a shade lighter she told me my hair was too dry and it would make it worse. so i guess i’ll save that for another time.
While this is not a South Beach salon as far as aesthetics, the prices also reflect that — so great service, happy customer and affordable. The only downside was the color and keratin took 4 hours. I will go back but will block out more time.

Went for Japanese Straightening… extremely happy with the results. Smooth, silky, shiny straight manageable hair ;) Sang is very hard working-​she took 5 hours to give me perfect results and kept assuring me that she knows what she is doing. Reasonably priced & good products… very happy customer !!

Basically if I could give Sang a 100 star review I would ! I’m so glad they were open today on Easter ! I called right when they open and asked if I could come in an hour and was given the okay. I drove all the way from Kendall to her shop it was about a 40 minute drive.
I showed sang a picture and asked her what she thought and she gave me great advice and I left everything in her hands and I’m glad I did. I dyed my hair back to my natural color and cut it shoulder length.
The cut was amazing ! I loved it ! I sadly have a round face and it’s hard to match a hairstyle for me but Sang nailed it ! The color was beautiful it basically looked natural and flawless it was a combination of black and dark brown. I could tell Sang took her time to make sure the color came out great and the haircut was even. I got there at 11 and left at 2.
I paid $ 100 for my cut, wash, style, color and every penny was worth it ! I will be back to keep this same hairstyle because I fell in love with it ! Also I found my hair stylist for life !

I just moved to Miami from LA where Asian hair salon is everywhere. I saw the good reviews on Unilocal so I gave SK a try. I wanted to do haircut and change hair color.
My husband and I went there on Saturday without an appointment. We thought it was pretty early as it’s before 11.00 AM. so it might be ok. I came in and met the lady at the counter. We’re lucky as after we sat down there was a call from a new customer tried to make appointment but the lady turned down and asked her to come in the next day instead. So next time I should make an appointment too.
The lady started cutting my hair while my husband’s hair was cut from the guy (I think they’re a couple) I gave the lady the picture of the short hair style that I wanted. She did a pretty good job on that excepted she didn’t layer and cut bang for me, so I asked her to do that. She finally cut bang but refused to do more layers. She’s afraid my hair will be out of control because my hair is very thick and a bit curvy. I trusted her on that and went on to the color changing process.
She politely asked me to wait for 20 minutes as she needed to take care another customer first. I said yes since there were only she and her husband who’s also busy cutting hair for another customer as well. After 20 minutes, I was back to her station and started coloring. We spent about 1 hour for the color changing process.
She’s pretty neat and careful when working. She kept combing my hair to make sure there was no mistakes. If she found one she eagerly solve it right away. Even after we paid and almost left the shop, she asked me to sit down again as she found some part was longer than the rest of the hair.
We spent total of $ 120 for both of us. My husband haircut was $ 20 and $ 100 for mine (cut + color) very cheap and professional !
will be back for sure !

I came to SK Hair studio after reading the reviews on Unilocal,and I am happy I did.
I was looking for a place to get a digital perm done. I’m Hispanic and my hair is straight but with a little bit of wave. I had gotten a digital perm in December 2013, so I still had the waves from that perm at the ends of the hair. Sang took care of me. As other reviewers have said, there is a bit of a language barrier, but we communicated ok. I requested more volume closer to the scalp, and she got it. She also recommended I go ahead and cut my hair a bit more, so we did it.
The digital perm price was $ 170 and the haircut $ 30. I was literally amazed when I saw her cut my hair. I guess I had never had a stylist that did her job so meticulously, yet quickly and efficiently. I don’t know how many years Sang has been cutting hair, but she handled those scissors like they were part of her hands. Just really cool to watch.
Anyway, after she was satisfied with the layers, we moved on to the perm. I had gotten my last perm at a rather fancy salon in Singapore, and I was wondering whether there would be differences in the procedures since SK Hair Studio is all the way in South Florida. But it was pretty much the same, which made me feel more confident that the curls will come out right. And they did. Sang also shared advice on how to take care of them.
Some downsides: The neighborhood does feel kinda sketchy; but once you enter the salon I relaxed, it was clean and comfortable. Also, I made the appointment at 10, but she was already busy with another customer, so I had to wait till 11 to get started on my hair cut. Between the haircut and the perm process, there was also something like a 15 minute break — there was some sort of errand that Sang and her husband were taking care of. They were very nice and polite in asking me to wait, so I didn’t mind. Plus I was prepared with some audiobooks. Toward 2:30 pm I was really hungry though. Sang kindly offered me some buttered toast and hot tea, which helped me get through to the end.
All in all, I’ll be coming back for next perm/​hair cut. I do think they have a hidden gem of a salon here!

I loved the haircut I got here! One of the best $ 35 I ever spent! The older lady (I think her name is Li?) washed, cut, and styled my hair and did an amazing job! She was really sweet, friendly, and really took her time to cut and style my hair down to every last detail. She spent a long time on my hair and I felt bad she had to turn away a couple of people who walked in but at the same time I felt really well taken cared of because she didn’t try to finish my haircut quick to make more money but really took her time to do a good job. I really appreciated that, its hard to find a good hairdresser now a days who really care about their clients but this place does and for that I def will be back.
Oh, and they have a TV in the front with korean shows on (they had kpop star on when I was there)
Overall, I love this little hair salon and the hairdressers and I def will be back whenever I am down here visiting my parents. The best haircut I have gotten in a while and for only $ 35! Cant beat it! Def recommend them for anyone looking for a Asian hair salon (you’ll especially love it if you korean!)
P. S. There is a korean grocery store in the same shopping complex (they have cheap and amazing kimchi!) and Joa Korean Cuisine is basically next door so you can get korean food while your waiting or after you get a haircut!

I originally came here for the japanese magic straight perm. She first of all blocked the entire day off just to focus on me (yeah, the procedure took me from 10am-​3pm!), and although it was nice I felt bad because they had to turn down a few walk-​ins. It’s just her and her husband, btw.
She also went ahead and gave me an extra keratin/​shine solution as well as a small trim to even out my haircut because she wasn’t satisfied with the previous haircut I had from somewhere else… all free of charge! The overall price had met my expectations, so although it wasn’t the cheapest, it was also not wallet-​emptying.
She was very meticulous about my hair and was able to do the treatment on my bleached hair with no damage or frying… which in my opinion takes a ton of skill.
Very nice couple, they kept offering me refreshments and what not so I can be comfortable.
The only reasons why I didn’t give it 5 stars was the location (a little sketchy) and it wasn’t cheap as the other reviews raved on. There is also a huuuuge communication block, but we were able to convey each other’s messages. If you know Korean, I would say it could be a plus for you.
I definitely recommend this place!!!

My wife went back to do the Magic Straight process again after about 1yr .Sang did a great job of the haircut and my wife looks so much younger with it. That last process lasted a long time. My wife is going to make another appt soon because she has waited over a yr this time… She is very happy with the service, time and energy Sang spends with her. The only downside to this location is the location. the area looks really run down.

Are you a man looking for a Japanese/​Korean style hair cut in South Florida and doesn’t want to break the bank while doing so? If so, you have just found the right place!
For $ 20 a haircut and extra $ 50 a perm, you can look like your favorite K/​JPop singer of your dreams! Well, at least your hair.
Price may vary if you have girlishly long hair.
They speak little English, so bring a photo of the style you want. They can’t match it 100%, but it will come out looking great! Also call ahead and make an appointment first, they do have odd time offs here and there.

So this review has been a long time coming. I actually wanted to wait and see how my hair turned out to write the full review.
When I went here I got a cut and digital perm. I am Vietnamese with obviously Asian straight hair. I had never gotten one before and my hair hadn’t been treated with any kind of chemicals for over 2 years. My dilemma was that I loved curly hair and I would only do it when I went out at night because it was such a tedious process of hairspray, curl, more hairspray, and extra hairspray just to hold it. On top of that Florida weather is humid so it pulled my curls out so fast I would go back to straight hair in 2 hours.
Honestly I would give the hospitality 5 stars because Sang is so nice and thoughtful and pays attention to your hair for sure. The cut that I got before my hair was permed was also nice.
So, for the digital perm: it was a long process that took about 4 hours for my really long hair. Sang even took the time to style my hair and after all was said and done it was nice and it was curly just the way I wanted it. You aren’t supposed to wash your hair for 2 days and Sang says 3 is better (gross I know). However, after washing it and trying to style it like Sang did, it still came out flat. So I resorted to curling my hair after blow drying it and it was also nice for the first 2 weeks. My hair would stay curled until I washed it again, but as time went on the hair closest to my back didn’t even take to my curling iron.
I called Sang and told her my dilemma and she told me to come in and she would fix it for me. I wasn’t really looking forward to another 4 hours for my hair, but I did want to get my moneys worth. I came in and she redid my hair again and informed me that my hair was too straight and that’s why it didn’t take as well.
It is one month later and when I come out of the shower I get limp waves on the top and straight hair on the bottom and I let it air dry. When it is thoroughly dry I then use my Enzo Milano curling iron to curl my hair and I have to say that I am really pleased that my hair does stay curly the whole time. My hair gets less curly as the next day rolls in, but it gives it a more natural (Victoria Secret) kind of look.
Overall, in getting a digital perm I had hoped to get curly hair with low maintenance, but that really isn’t the case because I have to take the time to curl my hair after my shower and all that jazz. Upside is that I no longer have to use any hairspray at all!
I’m originally from CA so when I go back I will be doing research to get my hair redone again to see if it will truly hold and be less/​no maintenance. Unless you plan to travel to SF or LA in CA I would recommend this place because it is the only place in South Florida that does it. Word of caution is that it is located in a really ghetto run down area.

OMG!!! this place is great!!! i absolutely recommend this place to do your hair. im asian so i have asian hair and this lady know everything she was doing. so what she doesnt speak that great english. their prices are great compared to other places.
i had the japanese hair straighting she charged my 250 and i have really long hair (it starts off at 200) it included a hair cut too. the hair cut was great, she took her time and knew what i wanted. really good customer service
