Well where do I start… haven’t been in, in awhile and now will never go back. The place us still a dive, dirty, people are either rude or act as if you don’t exist. The bartender she was worse than a space cadet. Whatever she is on please come down and take better care of your customers. I mean took forever to get a beer. I’d left and went to crown down the street. At least there they say «Hello»

We ended up here last night after a fun night at the bars around the area. We had a couple of beers. we were not too sure of the place as there was a super drunk guy going around the place speaking to everybody.
The Irish man at the counter ended up asking us to leave because he did not get a tip from one of the people in our group. I told him we had paid for the beers and we were not leaving until we finished them. He did not say much until we were picking up to leave. he shouted very racist names at us… He screamed «you ****** Arabs!»… He was drunk I’m sure. This place is disgusting. will never go there again or recommend this to anyone.

The irish man working the bar thought I was a tourist and waaayyy over charged me. When I asked for a receipt he said «the computer wouldn’t let him print it» Save your health and money, go elsewhere. Whiskey Tango, Stirke 10, even Holiday bowling center will be better options than this.

Great local billiard place to take your friends. Nice staff and great selection of beers. The place is little smoky so be prepared to inhale some cigarettes into your lungs and have it all on your clothes. My advice is to go there when it’s empty. Sunday nights, Monday nights… Nice little juke box to search for your favorite tunes. Tobys been there for ages and it’s a great Hollywood local spot.

Amazing stereo system. however a little expensive, $ 1 for a song! Pool is free before 7 pm if you buy alcohol, bud light buckets are $ 15 for 5– great vibe. The tables are kept impeccable. My husband and I were the only two there so I didn’t have to deal with the 2^nd hand smoke. but if I did, I’d prob vote it down a few stars as well.

I normally shoot pool at Gold Crown at 24^th and Hollywood Blvd but someone told me that Toby’s was a nicer pool hall so I took my sister and friend there Sunday night. I was unsure of the rates so I called ahead of time and was told $ 10 per hour for three people. This is $ 1 more than Gold Coast but I figure if it’s a better place than it’s worth it.
This pool hall allows smoking although it is now illegal to smoke indoors. They also allow dogs so if you’re allergic to animals do not go to Toby’s. I was playing pool when this lady and her giant dog walks in. I swear my sister thought it was a bear. And it growled at me when I went to pay. It was not a friendly dog.
The place was very noisy. And the tables are old. They have the tables where the balls stay in the pocket instead of drop to the bottom. And they don’t have enough racks for each of the tables. We had to share with the table next to us.
When we went to pay we were told it was $ 12 per hour or free if each one of us ordered a drink. So if we consume alcohol we could play pool for free. They are promoting alcoholism. AND I was told $ 10 over the phone anyway. The guy said it was $ 10 for two people. I very clearly said I’d have three in my party when I called.
All in all, this was a bad experience and I will NEVER go back to Toby’s. I’ll stick to Gold Crown at 24^th and Hollywood Blvd. They are cheaper and have nicer tables and they don’t allow pets or smoking.

its a nice little pool hall in downtown hollywood. the prices are fair games/​beer, but the only problem i have is when people start smoking. geez its like a smoke stack in there, no ventilation at all. so if you don’t mind getting lung cancer from second hand smoke you should check it out…

I believe smoking is no longer allowed indoors, but man, the smokiness of a thousand other nights of pool and beer lingers in this hall… so if you’re someone with smoke (or residual smoke) allergies, this may not be the place for you.
Tables are rented by the hour and per person at a table.
When we visited the place was empty (it was around 8:30pm on a Weds. night the day after X’mas) but I was assured by the locals that people would show up much later.
Toby’s is open ’til 2am everyday and offers a 5-​for-​4 beer special.
