This place is a must! The staff is extremely attentive and the pool is beautiful. I loved bringing my party of five here to lay out and listen to the DJ on a Saturday. Do yourself a favor and indulge in this Hollywood hotspot!

Hot tip: If you want to chill out without a lot of people and covercharges, don’t come during a party. #2: Drinks are $ 18 a pop. Cocktail pitchers are about $ 90 #3: They included 20% tip into your bill automatically no matter what. We came on a December night at about 6pm. Only ones there and it was kind of nice. I hear this is a cool spot later on and on warm nights though. The main light came from the pool which was pretty cool. But for the price, could go somewhere else to chill.

I came to the Roosevelt with some friends to meet up with a group that had rented out a room for a birthday. My friends and I went to the bar(Tropicana) and fell in love with the female bartender. I can’t remember her name but she was phenomenal. I would absolutely come kick it here just for her, a young, thin, brunette with an amazing personality.

Party central in Hollywood! People-watching, great music/DJ, total California atmosphere. Went there with a large group and had bottle service and reservations. Thoroughly enjoyed the party. Positives: Great atmosphere Pool party with inflatable toys Fun to watch fucked up partiers float by on swans and then capsize Beautiful people Excellent DJ Social atmosphere Negatives: Whole place smelled like pot Lots of cigarette smoke Expensive Loud Some crazy characters High maintenance patrons(hollywood, duh) It’s either your cup of tea, or it’s not. If you’re not too turned off by the aforementioned«negatives,» definitely check this place out for a night out. We went on a Tuesday night, so it wasn’t slammed, but it was a cranking party. Go with an open mind, take what you can, leave the rest behind.

So I came here with a couple girls and the front deck let us in no problem. It’s usually $ 50 min per person to spend which goes fast had we agreed with that. We ate anyway and spent about $ 60. So add drinks to that and it would have been worth the cabana. Still had fun just setting on the edge of the pool and swimming. All the staff was freaking amazing! And our server was the nicest guy ever. Wish I could remember his name. Skinny guy. Worked the bridge. Cannot wait to go back. I’ll be a regular here for sure. Haha! Don’t be cheap. Life is short

I don’t see why this pool café should have 3 stars… From the moment we got to the hotel pool area the servers were very nice and helpful and pleasant to be around. The water was warm and drinks refreshing. There was a pool party on Memorial Day and the beds were being sold for $ 750, however being that we were staying there they accommodated us and gave us the bed for free for the day. Thanks Trop!!!

Ambience is great by the pool. You’ll have your everyday teenies in string bikinis, wanna sees and bees… All great fun… Just watch out for the bill… That’s where the staff try to screw you… Make sure to ask for an itemized bill or you’ll end up paying 35−45% in tip. A service charge of 20% has already been added to your bill and you can only see it of you ask for the itemized bill. If you don’t know about this your tipping not only on your spend but also on the charged tip. Across the pond this nasty trick is used by skank clubs and restaurants. Again a bunch of toads working here

I had a wonderful Sunday poolside, with great service and generous friends who had a hotel room there. As mentioned in other reviews, the people watching portion of the show, is worth the trip alone. It ramps up as the day wears on and the clothes come off. There was talk about room-less guests needing to pay $ 100 a head for bottle service, but I didn’t have that much to my name, so I held my breath, sunk my head underwater and swam some laps between legs, under the pink flamingo floats, along the bottom where it gets good and quiet. I found a black shape that might’ve been a piece of felt, or something else, I avoided it. Back on the surface, the volume had risen, flesh was at a fever pitch, and all over the spectrum between tight and loose. There was everything from a drum to a hammock. At the far end of the pool is a cluster of tables where countless careers have surely ended or begun, where hats are worn and sticks are smoked. Pretty much if you’re buying then express yourself, because anything goes, and we’re watching… if not then smile, be nice, keep quiet, enjoy the show.

The drinks and food are decent but this place is pricey. Cocktails cost around $ 18. Guacamole and chips for $ 17? Really? And on top of that they add a mandatory 20 percent service charge to your bill. So if you’re going for lunch and drinks and to lay by the pool expect to shell out some pretty good money. The ambiance was cool. Pool area was nice. There wasn’t loud music when I went which was nice and the pool water is a warm which was nice. I would go back if they scaled back their prices just a bit. It is a little outrageous. But until then I wouldn’t bother.

It takes a lot for me to write a really bad review. Unfortunately, the Tropicana Bar deserves it on this particular lunch order. I work right down the street, so I’m often dining at Public, which is located inside the Roosevelt. There was a private shoot going on at Public today, so they sent me to the outside Tropicana Bar. *sigh I sit down at the bar and order 3 to-go salads, each one totaling well over $ 13. The bartenders never offer me a drink, I had to ask for water, and then they inform me that the total of the check includes tax ANDGRATUITY. Ready for this? They added 20% gratuity on a to-go order. If that’s not absurd, I don’t know what is. The worst part is that they forgot the dressing on my Cesar salad(add shrimp). That’s a $ 14 salad in which I ate the 3 pieces of shrimp and some croutons. #awful No dressing? #needsdressing C’mon, your kitchen needs to get it right, Tropicana! I called and spoke to the manager, and she was nice enough to take care of me the next time I come in, but who wants to be the person that comes in weeks later and says«yeah, I’m the one who’s order you screwed up at the bar, so uhhh, will you comp my meal today?» Today was a total strike out for the Tropicana Bar.

I’m not sure where it all of a sudden became the norm to include gratuity on a bar drink for one, but I’d suggest cutting that **%$ out real quick. I’ve been in the service industry for 16 years. Don’t like working for tips? Get another job. Cheap and petty way to not have return customers. Especially on a slow Monday night. You want to grat bottle service, go right ahead, but not a smart idea with a party of 1 ordering a drink. If I wasn’t in a business gathering, I would’ve returned the drink. Won’t be coming back.

When you’re lounging by the Roosevelt pool in your bathing suit, the last thing you want is greasy, fatty foods. But then again, when you’re partying on vacation by the Roosevelt pool in your bathing suit, the one thing you may want in life is greasy, fatty foods. Tropicana Bar & Pool: a young Hollywood foodie’s juxtaposition. Don’t expect anything fancy out here, although I wouldn’t expect anyone to after jumping on a giant inflatable swan.(Not guilty!) Choose between items like chicken tenders and a hummus wrap to salads and french fries and other bar inspired bites. But that’s really all it tastes like – bar inspired bites. When you’re paying close to $ 20 on a wrap, you’d hope it’d taste somewhat better than what you order at that one office café you run to on your breaks when you’re starving and in a rut. But hey, after a few cold margaritas and some swan wrestling in the pool, it sure is quite delicious. Insider tip! Order the guacamole bowl – it’s literally, a FULL bowl of delicious guacamole and chips in true Southern California fashion. The wraps we tried(turkey and the roasted vegetable) were definitely not worth breaking a diet for. Also, their Moscow Mule was an excellent choice – props to the bartender! If only the inflatable swan could’ve made sure I got it in a bronze cup…

Cute bar for drinks. Good music and chill atmosphere. Recommend for atmosphere and lounge type place. Drinks were a little watered down and didn’t have a chance to try food.

Someday I will own a home with a pool, until then this is my favorite destination to take a dip. The pool is nicely heated and the lounge chairs are super comfy. In the summer, you can check out twitter/Facebook to see if there are any pool parties and RSVP to get on the list. Show up early as once they get at capacity the line starts, yuck. Mixed drinks are expensive but beers are $ 8-$ 9. Food is also expensive so don’t come hungry. You can valet park for cheaper options Hollywood and highland or street parking, if you are feeling lucky. See you poolside!

Poolside bar at the Roosevelt?! This place is awesome and the bartender makes some AMAZING cocktails. You’ll pay for it, but it’s worth trust me. At night they have poolside fire pits… which was awesome. Definitely will be back to this place.

THISIS A PRIVATE-EVENTREVIEW Our company held its holiday party here last year, which was a treat. Can guarantee I wouldn’t have visited otherwise – in Justin V’s words«not my scene» at all. Regardless, we were there, so enjoyed it! The hotel itself is super swanky and when you’re poolside, gives you that feeling of vintage Hollywood. The bartenders were helpful and attentive, even though there were constantly people flocking the bar and trying to get their attention. It is outdoor, but it was chilly on our party night but there were a LOT of heaters scattered throughout(especially near the bar) so everyone warmed up quickly. –1 star for parking. Valet parking is lovely, especially when it’s paid for by the company, but OMG the line for valet parking went AROUNDTHEBLOCK and people were INLINE for valet for literally 30 – 45 minutes… if not more. I don’t know what it was about the valet system that went wrong(did everyone call in sick?) but please FIXTHIS. –1 star for lighting/layout. This is obviously only applicable if you’re thinking of hosting a big party, but the layout isn’t necessarily conducive to big group speeches or really seeing who’s there, etc. Our President tried to give a speech at one point, but because of the layout around the pool, I doubt more than 1⁄3 of the people realized what was going on or could hear what he was saying. The ambiance is awesome for a poolside lounge, which is what they are most of the time, but just something to consider if you’re event planning yourself.
