Just a cozy neighborhood Winn Dixie. They have things that Publix doesn’t, and their beer selection is better too. It’s right across from my house so it’s within walking distance. The biggest perk is the self check out and since this location is never really crowded it makes getting in and out really easy. All in all its a nice friendly neighborhood grocery store and it feels like home. I wish they had a wider selection of organic products but Whole Foods and Greenwise have got that covered.

I have quite the keen botany skills, and my mother’s head is made up of a never ending pintrest board, so when it came to creating floral centerpieces for my sister’s baby shower, we made quite the capable team. or we would have. Creating these centerpieces was one of my tasks when planning the shower and I was thinking of doing a peony, hydrangea and rose arrangement in whites and soft pinks(it’s a girl!). If it were up to me, I would have gone to the closest flower shop and ordered them 123. But my mother is a hard core bargain hunter and she insisted on shopping around for the best price. A week or two before the shower, she stopped into winn-dixie and decided to have a look at the flowers. Apparently, they had a nice selection of flowers at a cost she could live with, and so I agreed to go with her judgement. When my mother went into Winn-Dixie a few days later to put in an order for the flowers, the woman working the area told my mom that she would put the arrangements together for 15 $ a centerpiece. My mom said no, that we could do it much cheaper ourselves and we only needed the flowers, not her labor. The lady haggled some more and said she would do it for 10 $ a centerpiece. Knocking off 5 $ per arrangement is a sizable discount so my mom agreed to let them do it all at Winn Dixie. My mom explained to the woman the flowers we wanted to use– peony, hydrangea and rose, but said that if she couldn’t get peonies that she could use gerbera daisies or the like. We had already bought tall cylinder glass vases which we had them use. All seemed well. Until we picked up the arrangements that is. What did we get? Carnations. Not a single rose, daisy or hydrengea to be found, just carnations and a huge takcy ribbon bow in each arrangement. These centerpieces were not even close to being worth 10 $ each and we didn’t get anything close to what we wanted. Very disappointing.

I have always been a fan of this Winn-Dixie due to its location and selection of items. If you check their weekly ad you can often find great deals that rival other grocery chains. This location has self check-out stations which are helpful if you are in a hurry. The staff is usually around hovering around the stations if you have any questions. I’m not a huge fan of their bakery but just about everything else is great.
