Very friendly! The owner even brought a live Lobster to the table to show the kiddos. Lobster Bisque and lobster roll were amazing!!! The lobster Mac and cheese was a little bland… Not very cheesy. All and all I would definitely recommend it

This is a great little hole in the wall with fresh burgers and ice cold beers. It rocks! Cash only though and don’t forget to order at the bar. Seat yourself. It’s very casual. The burger meat and ingredients were super fresh. Great little walk up spot if you are on the beach and need a drink and a nosh.

Dive bar with cheap beer and pretty good food. Perfect break after spending the day at the beach.

Burgers were real good. Nice size with all the condiments. Onion rings cooked to perfection. Fries very good. So a burger, a cheeseburger, 1 French fries, 1 onion ring, a beer and a bottle of water and you’re out about $ 30 including a tip for the counter service. No real atmosphere, just a pretty good place to stop in for a burger. Sit outside and enjoy the traffic or sit inside and enjoy watching the people. Good service, good food… I’ll be going back!

Very skinny is right, You order inside and i’m afraid if i weigh anymore than i do i wouldn’t have made it with all the people inside. Location is perfect just across the street from the beach parking lot. Couldn’t ask for a better spot. The staff was super friendly but very overwhelmed in such a tiny space. We sat outside because we had our son with us very dive bar inside. Plenty of seating outside with a small parking lot. if you go down manatee west to the very end they are on the left literally. When you order food the menu is all a la carte. We ordered two cheeseburgers one with bacon and one with double patty and cheese/A hot dog for the little man and fries and onion rings. They also had happy hour $ 1 draft bud, all together came out about $ 36 with tip. The food was good the meat was nicely cooked but jus tnot season at all. I like the batter they used for the onion rings they just were a little over done. I think with the popularity of this place we were lucky to have even got a seat but in the same aspect the food had potential of being better. It was very cool to get draft beer for a $ 1 but it was bud and i wouldn’t ever get that anywhere else. A-OK because why not the food is decent the atmosphere is refreshing outside and the bar budget is ideal. If they kick it up on the quality of what they cook like they do on speediness of getting their orders out this place could have two more stars.

Burger was amazing. Limited beer choices. They have a couple decent choices outside the standard macro stuff. No a/c, so I tend to pick up and go in the summer, unless I am hanging by the beach. Classic place to go. Some complain about the wait. If it is busy you will wait, but that is the norm for a place on the island during season. That is why some Iocals avoid the islands during season. Also, cash only, but imagine the wait would be longer if they were running cards.

Very long wait. Borderline unreasonable. $ 6 for a small burger. Wait 40 to an hour… The burgers are small. Taste wise it’s good… If you are coming here to drink and sit by the beach the. You probably don’t care. But rating as a place to go to eat… If they are not crowded go ahead… If they are, plan to wait. And wait.

Found this little locals spot on our last day, unfortunately. Very small and crowded, but truly a local spot, still family owned. Burgers, hot dogs and Grandma’s chili were actually a welcome break, as every other restaurant on the island seems to have the same spin on the same 12 seafood dishes. Loved it! Skinny cheeseburger was awesome! Wished we found it sooner!

This place is amazing. Kind of a hole in the wall dive– but their food is the best. Went there for the first time in 2013 with friends on Vaca– but it was a must visit on our honeymoon last year and going to return there for our first anniversary in a cpl months! Burgers and onion rings are big juicy and delicious and they serve their Cokes and Water in glass bottles(the best). Highly recommend them!

Good food and a great atmosphere. I stopped in here with my wife, daughter, son, and two sisters-in-law. We were fortunate enough to be here for their 13th anniversary. We enjoyed good burgers, good music, and good beer. When this place opened, my daughter was 10 months old. May both have long continued success.

Old School Beach Burger Shack Does it get much better than this? Nope Had the cheeseburger, fries, and soda. It was just what I wanted and needed. They have a few beer options and are CASHONLY.

A great burger place on Anna Maria Island. They only take cash and don’t have air conditioning but they have good outside seating and some inside seating. I go with my family every time we meet at the island. The food was very good and satisfying after a long day at the beach. I definitely recommend this place if you will be on the island.

Now this is how you make a burger! The G3 has 3 patties, and 3 different cheeses, and 6 layers of delicious! Skinny’s is a little hole in the wall bar, it’s cash only, the service is very friendly, and the story behind it is so cute. Family owned since the 50’s and started by a couple who came to AMI on their Honeymoon and promised to come back and open a restaurant. This(G3) burger was split 3 ways by 3 ravenous girls… It was HUGE. This is a big *DONTMISS* while youre on Anna Maria.

Every time I come to Anna Marie island I know to bring some cash because I’m definitely coming here! The burgers are nothing special and I think that’s what makes them so eff’ing good! The atmosphere is great! Picnic tables and fans everywhere in this little shack! Even if you don’t drink beer you’ll probably love it. The ice cold mugs make the beers go down way too smooth!

We were just in Florida this past week for a family reunion staying in Longboat Key and while Unilocaling for restaurants, this came to the top of our list. Our family is primarily Vietnamese and so we’ve had been enjoying a lot of home-cooked Vietnamese meals the past few days. My Caucasian Husband was really starting to miss his beloved«American Food» so I told him we could look for a burger joint. Low and behold, Skinny’s was about a 10-minute drive and had rave reviews. We couldn’t wait. We got a table inside right away and realized they only accepted cash so my husband left to get money out of the ATMs(located by bathrooms on side of the building). Prices were«Ok», not as great of a deal as I thought. I ordered a cheeseburger, my husband had the bacon cheeseburger, one daughter ordered a hot dog, and the other had a hamburger. We were pretty hungry so just about anything would have tasted amazing. Food came out about 10 minutes after ordering, so here’s the moment of truth. Sad to report, while«good enough» it was fairly bland and lacking substantial flavor. Same goes for the fries and onion rings. They might have been homemade, but homemade doesn’t equate to good flavor. Overall, it’s an OK burger place but you could do much better with Five Guys or otherwise. If we ever go back to this part of Florida, we probably won’t be back.

I adore local jaunts, populated by locals, run and served by locals. Authentic. In the midst of the tourism that has sprung around this adorable little place(started in the 40’s when there was no bridge or main road adjacent — ahh — stories like these tug at my heart strings!), this eatery has retained its local, authentic feel. Cash only. Come fresh off the beach, sun-kissed and ready to mow down a burger and ice cold beer. Doesn’t get any better than this. Love the fact that there is a chalkboard behind the bar that lists(in beers!) — how long you’ll wait for your order. Get yourself a burger(there’s a pretty good grilled chicken sandwich, and a veggie burger option too for those that don’t meddle with red meat), a fatty, if you must. I love that it comes with mayo and the works. Get some onion rings too, because, onion rings. This isn’t a gourmet, over-complicated burger. Simple, and just perfect. When I think of old-school AMI and what this island used to be(I assume), I think of Skinny’s. Skinny’s, please don’t ever change.

Skinny’s has, hands down, the best burgers on the island in a great, casual atmosphere. And(unlike the«other» burger place on AMI) they have *friendly* service and french fries. «Skinny» and his wife Jan opened the place in 1952 when there was one creaky wooden bridge connecting the island to the mainland on what is now Bridge St in Bradenton Beach. The two concrete drawbridges to the island weren’t built until 1956. Their children own and operate the restaurant today. So while you’re enjoying your burgers, you can enjoy a bit of history and support the family that maintained it. Yummy!

okay if you are on AMI, you NEED to check this place out! I come here about once a year and I make sure I eat here no less than 2 times during my week long stay. a little dirty around the edges, a little retro, but that’s what makes it awesome! order at the bar, give your name, and wait for your food to come up. get the burger. get the fries. get the onion rings. order a beer in a frosty mug. you will not be disappointed! cash only, so make sure you have some before you stop in as I don’t believe there is an ATM on the premises.
