This is a bit of a mixed review, as I didn’t have the best experience with this food truck, but most of their food was good enough that I could almost(emphasis ALMOST) overlook some of the service and policy issues. First, the good: Their ribs were savory and flavorful, tender without being overcooked or dry. In fact, they were quite moist and oily in the best way. They were a standout. The coleslaw was creamy without being over-the-top(you know the times where you feel you are eating cabbage and mayo) and had a little tang. I wasn’t as impressed with the brisket. While not bad, I felt it was a bit dry, and I had to use quite a bit of sauce to liven it up. The baked beans were pretty good, but probably could have used a more intense, rich flavor — more molasses or brown sugar or pork. Now, the bad… I’m usually not one to nitpick service. In my reviews you will see very few lower stars given for that. This is usually because I believe a good attitude as a customer results in good service and I’m generally right. However, in this case I had to practically jump up and down for the lady to notice me even though I was at the head of the line(she seemed to look everywhere but where I was standing in front of her), and once I got her attention it was partial, having had to repeat what I wanted and questions a couple of times. While waiting for my food, I heard her complaining about how after this, they’d be going to another event and their day wasn’t even over. I get that this is hard work, but if it’s such a burden, maybe don’t open a food truck. In fairness, this experience was with one of the two people manning the counter and only one of the three people working the truck. However, I also feel that some of their pricing policies are customer hostile. They had a rib platter and a brisket platter for $ 12 each. These are considered the«premium items». Fine. They also apparently offer combos of one premium plus chicken. When I asked if I could get a combo rib/brisket(as I wanted to try both), they did offer it – for $ 15.00. I asked if this was more food in total, and the answer was no: half portion of ribs/half portion brisket. Then why is a half/half of two $ 12 items $ 15? The answer: that’s how it is because it was a premium/premium not premium/chicken. That makes basically no sense. Now, the theory could be that it is extra effort to make a combo. But it was two items they already offer and was it 25% more effort for such an upcharge? It isn’t that I couldn’t float three extra bucks, but it bothers me that the basis just seems to be because they could, and not considering value to the customer. 4 for the food… 2 for the service/policies.

There was a rib fest in Homestead and although I didn’t try the ribs I did have a pulled pork egg roll and oh my gosh the best. The pork was delicious and tender. AMAZING service as well
