Since I have foot problems and am limited as to the type of shoes I can wear I generally come here. Normally both of your feet are measured for accuracy. Most styles come in European sizes so I am familiar with the size I normally wear. They also sell orthotics which you can put in sneakers or special orthodics for dress shoes. If you have a foot problem they will give give you 10% off your purchase of the orthotic once your mention your doctor’s name. I normally come here for sneakers, sandals and on rare occasion a dress shoe. They offer a reward program for the amount of your purchase once you reach a certain threshhold. I have never had a problem with any of my orthotics and give them a high recommendation. They do offer trunk shows which was the reason for my recent visit since I needed a pair of summer sandals and a waterproof sneaker for an upcoming trip. Normally they sell New Balance for sneakers and their prices are relatively comparable to that which you would find in other shoe stores. However, the do carry some better lines so expect to pay a little more if you want the quality of a name brand shoe. You are permitted to purchase the items and try it around the house to see if you are comfortable with it. If unhappy then you have two weeks to return it at which point it becomes a final sale. Time will normally tell if I had made the right purchase or not. I bought a pair of waterproof sneakers and an Allegra sandal which is versatile. They were kind enough to stretch the sneaker to make sure it wasn’t bothering my bunion. Located at the Waterfront parking can be a bit difficult but there is usually ample parking in the back of the complex.

After weeks of experiencing nearly debilitating foot pain that put my employment in question, I made an appointment with Dr. Stan Bosta of Homestead’s Allegheny Foot & Ankle who then treated me, prescribed some medication, and enthusiastically directed me to Gordon’s Shoes, a business that’s been in operation since 1885. The spotless, bright, well-organized, amply stocked shop is manned by a squadron of friendly, knowledgeable, accessible employees, one of whom waited on me without hesitation once I made mention of Dr. Bosta and presented her with a coupon that had the exact model of recommended custom orthotic written on it. She then measured my feet, retrieved for me some brand new, extremely comfortable New Balance insoles, and gently slid them into my workboots. All of this occurred within the span of 5 minutes. I rose from my seat, walked about, felt a huge difference immediately, settled up, and skipped on out. There I was… Trust Gordon’s. No, not the maker of crappy frozen fish sticks. That’s Gorton’s, ya knuckleheads.

Gordons in the Waterfront is exactly what I needed for new shoes after I was allowed to walk again after a fracture in my foot. The man who waited on me was kind, patient, and even let me know about a sale going on. The selection and quality of shoes is wonderful. You won’t get cheap shoes here but you will get the best. Worth every cent.

We went to Gordon’s looking for New Balance shoes for my daughter and I. We were frustrated by the service. Maybe we’ve been spoiled by New Balance Oakland, Little’s, and Nordstrom, but we expected better. We walked around waiting for at least 10 minutes until we finally begged someone to help us. We weren’t even acknowledged by the two salespeople helping other customers, who clearly saw us. We were just looking for a «hey, we’ll be with you as soon as possible.» When we finally got a salesperson, she was fine. She was friendly and measured my daughter and me, did the New Balance foot analysis(me only), and helped me make choices, but she didn’t go out of her way to help. Note: They have New Balance Kids; the Oakland store does not.

Went to Gordon this morning looking for some new crosstrainers, and was very impressed by the attentive and high-quality service. An associate met me at the door, explained current promotions, pointed me to the crosstrainers, and sized my feet. He brought out several combinations for me to try and showed me how lacing them differently could better suit my 7.25 sized feet. Prices are a little bit steeper than at a place like Amazon, but I think the service is more than worth it. Plus, they were running a «spin the wheel» promotion where you would get at least $ 15 off your purchase. All in all, a great(and very efficient) shoe-buying experience… I’ll be back for my next pair!
