Got the King’s Hawaiian Pork & Slaw sandwich. It looks delicious online in that photograph they spent hours working on, doesn’t it? Well first of all, the restaurant was so dirty. There was gunk on the table I sat at to wait on my food, the table next to me had dirty napkins sprinkled all over it. Maybe it was the teenager who made my sandwich, but it was really unbalanced. Way too much sauce gave it an overpowering sweetness. The bread is too sweet and not toasted, so the sandwich just felt like mush in my mouth. I think this needs something spicy to balance it out. I was expecting something better.

Firehouse Subs appeared in the wake of Subway and Quiznos but definitely offers a different, more substantial sandwich experience. Featuring sandwiches inspired by its founding firefighters, Firehouse Subs offers hearty and delicious combinations of meats, sauces, and toasted bread. I’m a huge fan of the Engineer(Smoked Turkey Breast with sauteed Mushrooms and melted Swiss). This place seems like a popular lunch destination for local business people, so it can get a little crowded around noon. Seating is somewhat limited inside too.
