Nice Place. Traveled from out of town, made an effort to find Octane and I would say the bakery and coffee were top notch.

Definitely our favorite coffeehouse in town at the moment. Awesome cold brew coffee and tasty (and beautiful) lattes. Cool environment too, definitely a great place to work remotely during the day if you have the option. We have enjoyed a few tasty unique cocktails at night as well, when we have had a long wait to get into the little donkey next door. Great setup where you can get texted when your table is ready at little donkey, so you can just chill sitting down at octane and sip a well crafted drink while you wait.

One of my Favorite Coffee places!!! No better place to study, do some work, drink coffee and relax. Okay for meeting but you have to pick a time when is not too crowded and loud.

Left the Birmingham Zoo and wanted to find some local coffee shop to get all hopped up at and the top rated in the area was Octane.
Upon arriving with the super sweet sign outside, you walk in and notice a seperate room with a huge coffee grinder and espresso machine and 50lb bags of coffee beans lining the shelves which makes this place legit.
They also have a full service bar that serves up a variety of cocktails. We ordered the espresso, cappuccino, and a white chocolate mocha. All three of these drinks were some of the best coffee I’ve ever had, they were excellent! The espresso comes with a glass of soda water that helps cleanse your palette after each sip which is pretty cool if you ask me. The service was great, and coffee even better go check out Octane.

Octane is a must-​visit for coffee lovers visiting or living in Birmingham. Located next door to Steel City Pops (best pops ever) and Little Donkey (have not tried yet), the entire area is homey and warm. There is also a good amount of parking.
+ Roasts their own beans; always fresh and can purchase by the bag for ~$ 16.
+ Nice baristas who explain their coffee options to you if you have any questions. Minimal snob here.
+ My husband, who doesn’t even like coffee, really enjoyed his latte.
+ Dangling outlets at the communal table plus wall outlets near the tables along the walls ensures that you’ll find a place to charge when you come.
+ A good mix of patrons here (airing on hipster side, but not as bad as in Austin), which I appreciate. Some are working, some are stopping in to grab and go, and some are meeting a friend. After 4 PM, the place turns into a casual bar serving drinks.
Like I said, I stop by every time that I’m in Birmingham and will continue to do so. Thanks for serving great coffee, Octane!

I ordered a vanilla latte from here Sunday morning. This place was packed! like no where to sit! No one was really moving in/​out either. So I decided to take my cup to go even though I really wanted to stay. While I was waiting, I was eye ballin the pumpkin ham pie. I finally ordered it and just scuffed it down while I waiting. It was a little over priced in my opinion. I didn’t taste the ham at all. When my latte was finally done, I noticed the pretty little design in my cup! That always makes my heart happy. When I finally got to drinking my latte, I was kind of unimpressed. It wasn’t strong at all. I prefer my coffee to be strong; so strong you have to sip. But this one here, I was able to chug the entire cup unphased going 80 mph on I-​20.

I spend wayyyy to much time in Homewood. This place is pretty top notch! They have really flavorful espresso and a good drink/​beer selection. The people that work here are super nice. We ordered (traditional) macchiatos and instead of saying «it’s not like starbucks» which is what most local ass hat baristas do, they where nice!
The drink was great and I will totally be back!

A friend introduced me to this place and I was very pleased. My latte was excellent with the perfect balance of sweet and that great coffee flavor. I also got an egg and cheese biscuit that was way better than I had even expected. I will definitely be back to try more!
