Such a bummer that they are closed! Best muffalatta I’ve ever had! Ciao, Savoia’s – hate to see you«go».

Just disgusting, tried something different ordered the calamari, it was tough and improperly cooked. It was cut into large pieces. It should be small rings, then breaded and deep fried in a clean hot deep fryer for at least 4 minutes. Yuck.

Just like the former restaurant in Chicago Heights! The food remains as good as It has been for more than 40 yrs. They have catered many times for our family, over the years.

Having grown up in Homewood, Savoia’s was the place for awesome Italian when mom didn’t feel like cooking. Yumm! The meatballs are HUGE! But hands down, their spaghetti is amazing! The best part? Always plenty more for leftovers… =)

this place was a staple for family dinners my whole life, and always loved it, but recently over the past couple years they are slipping, the prices have skyrocketed and the quality of food has suffered, i know times are tuff right now but too many corners are being cut, i would use to go in and get a mixed combo salad and was my fav went a month or two ago and nothing taste the same same its just ok now and then they tried charging me 9 $ compared to the 4 – 5 $ it once was. sorry to say this place is going down hill, i can make better Italian food at my own house for a quarter the price, sorry to be rude but it s just not for me anymore

I love their spaghetti. It’s made with angel hair pasta and comes with a meatball. I think it’s great. The Italian bread is a little meh to me, but the spaghetti keeps me coming back.

Just had the WORST experience here! It was kind of busy and the girl working up front was beyond rude! Griping at everyone waiting as well as the poor people who were calling on phone. It took 25 min for three spaghetti dinners(which have been a long time favorite of mine) and mine was barely warm enough to eat and the usually good bread super dry. While I was waiting a woman came in who had been yelled at on the phone then left on hold for 20 min! My packages had been crushed and sauce oozed everywhere. I tried to find any kind of email for Savioa Togo on their web site to let them know about this and there is none. The employees need to be told that there are lots of people looking for work in this economy who have some sense of professionalism and Savoia should hire some or risk alienating customers who have been dining on their food for years!

Savoia T’go has always delivered salvation for my Italian cravings. The pasta is always very tasty and fresh. The lasagna is great, as is the mafalada. When picking up, give yourself at least 20 – 25 minutes before heading down there. Place never seems busy but it is. The italian beef sandwich is good and the peppers are definitely a necessity. Great value for the price. Some of the best Italian available in the area.

Note that this review is for the Homewood Savoia T’Go. This is carryout and catering only, and I recommend you call your order in after looking at their online menu. Generally the food is ready within 20 minutes. This is a fabulous local carryout place, very inexpensive and a great alternative to the usual Chinese, pizza, and Thai in Homewood. Our favorites are the lasagna, the perch, calamari and the super salad. Even though a dinner is advertised as feeding one person, two people who aren’t voraciously hungry could be happy with a single dinner of almost any of their menu items. The super salad is probably enough for 4 people. Olives, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts etc. It is delicious. The Chicago Heights Savoia is the original restaurant but Homewood is every bit its equal.

MMM. Mafalada(said in the Homer Simpson voice) Oh man, the stuff dreams are made of. A wedge of italian bread piled high with a variety of italian cured deli meats and mozzarella. Topped with giardiniera and baked. Oh God, I’m drooling just thinking of it. The roast chicken dinner was my other fav. Super juicy and flavorful, served with spaghetti. I love the red sauce here. Normally, I’m an easy sauce kinda gal, but I ask for extra and soak it up with the italian bread. The gnocchi is awesome too. It’s not fancified with gorgonzola or made with squash or anything. Just authentic potato dumplings with a meatball, in that red sauce I love so much. You can dine in, but the seating’s limited. Which is just as well. I mean, you don’t anyone to hear you foodgasming, do ya?

For Italian takeout,(they also have a few small tables for 1 – 3 people to eat at, but this is a small place) this place has no rivals! I especially recommend their roasted chicken, sausage and peppers, Italian sub or muffaletta, or their super salad. All outstanding and all terrific. Their salad selections are incredibly fresh, and incredibly good. They even have frozen sauces, noodles, desserts, and such for you to take home for the freezer. This place is the best. In the neighborhood, and never tried it? You MUST stop. It is even worth the drive — we do it all the time. Oh — if it is Sunday — call ahead and order. Wow, it can be a long wait on Sunday nights — but well worth the wait. Mr. and Mrs. Biamonte — -keep up the great work!

Great fried perch and good spaghetti with very large portions. It’s carry-out only. I agree that if you are a perch fan, you must come and experience their fish.

From the far north side of Chicago I have been known to make the trek all the way to Homewood just for Savoia spaghetti & perch. If you are a perch fan you must make the trip, I know it is far, but so worth it. If I could talk the lady’s into it I would totally open one here in Andersonville.

I lived in Homewood for many years, years ago, and my mother still lives there. Whenever I visit, I head straight for Savoia’s. It’s less than a mile from my Mom’s house. I have not been able to match my fave carry-out combo since I left Homewood: fried jumbo shrimp & spaghetti marinara. I was remembering Savoia’s tonight. I got great spaghetti marinara take-out from Mama D’s in Hermosa Beach, but I had to go all the way across town to Mailbu Grill to get decent breaded shrimp. And it was not as good as Savoia’s. I love LA and there are few things I miss about living back East. Savoia’s is one of them. Gentle, drifting snowflakes on Christmas Day is another. Autumn leaves is another. And White Castle. Aurelio’s pizza. And my Mom. Hell, now I’m crying.
