Bottom Line: a good lunch truck with awesome value I think the terms«gourmet» and«lunch truck» are somewhat of an oxymoron, and using the two terms in the same sentence usually draws some uncertainty in my mind. In any case, if local items like Ahi Salad, Ahi Katsu, Garlic Chicken, Roasted Pork, and Pepper Steak aren’t considered gourmet, then perhaps the options to add brown rice or tossed salad in place of your usual white rice and mac salad meet the criteria for a gourmet experience; even if the tossed salad option is just cut up romain lettuce. They have a fairly large and extensive menu. I’ve only tried a few options, but from what I’ve had, and from what my coworkers have ordered, everything looked and smelled good. The katsu dishes are fairly light and not overly heavy or greasy, and the sauces and dressings are sparingly added. The lunch truck is run by a couple of middle aged filipino gentlemen who are very friendly. They provide quick and amiable service. Because they are a truck, they aren’t always in the same location. I see them in Mapunapuna across the Kaiser Permanente clinic, but I believe they can be found downtown. They also offer catering services if the signs on their truck are to be believed. I think the big draw for me, even more than the good food, is the great value you get. A full plate lunch goes for about $ 7.50 — $ 8.50, and a mini goes for $ 4. I like that this place actually charges half the amount for half the food. If you ever run into the 3 Sisters(gourmet) lunch wagon, it may be worth your time to give them a try.
