Accelerations Learning Center

When searching for a learning center for your child it’s kinda hard because sometimes you just dont know if your child will enjoy it and get along with the tutors, especially knowing they have to go school all day and then tutoring right after their brain is fried for the day.
My son, who is 14 years old loves learning but, he is a kinestic learner so the hawaiian charter school that he currently attends is perfect for him but, he still struggles with his academics not as bad as before. He also does not trust Adult teachers because of his bad experience he had going to Kaimuki Middle School and being bullied by one of his teacher telling him «He will never make it in life and he doesn’t belong in school mom should homeschool you» and all sorts of negative words from her. It was probably the worse time of his years being there. So with that said it scarred him for trusting adults and teachers in specific.
But, things are changing slowly. He actually loves coming to Accelerations Learning Center, we started off with twice a week and it was a struggle in the beginning to get him acquainted to the tutors/​center. He kept telling me he didn’t want to go, he didn’t need it, he doesn’t see the point but, I just told him try it out for 2 months straight, if you don’t like we’ll stop but, he has to give it his all and not half ass! So he did, two months came he started getting comfortable, then 3 months he created a trusted relationship with some of the tutors (Ms. Michelle & Mr. Steve), 4 months Acceleration Learning Center became his safe haven where he feels comfortable to learn, he loves his tutoring that I was able to place him back in sports and downsize his tutoring once a week. His grades are okay but, better than before! He has come along way in regards to learning and he enjoys going, he doesn’t mind doing extra curricular workshop such as essay writing skills over Christmas break and he says «School is school but, when I step into the learning center there is something about it that gives me a second wind and I’m more focus to want to learn» to me, that’s priceless and teary eyed because although he had some negative experience he is overcoming it and he his moving forward!“
Mahalo Acceleration Learning Center for being there for my son, having a place where my son can literally call it his safe haven and progress to learn. I appreciate all the feedback information after each session from Ms. Michelle or Mr. B it’s so great to read, although sometimes I think you have the wrong kid when you tell me «He loves learning, PAYS attention and etc» But, I am very blessed to had found you and if it wasn’t for Unilocal I wouldn’t have. Thank you for all that you do and making it soo comfortable kids such as my son enjoy going.

My 10 year son is very energetic and fun. However he becomes an emotional basketcase, when he gets frustrated with his homework. The teachers at accelerations are patient with him and encourage him. They are able to help him when he refuses to listen to me. He has now attended Accelerations for two years. He is getting all A’s in school and is not getting frustrated while doing his homework like he used to.

Cassandra and her crew changed my life. Honestly. I was finding myself getting more and more overwhelmed in high school as a Punahou student in honors and AP math and science classes (while language arts classes were more of my strong suit). I started getting tutoring in math, science, and sat prep starting freshman year and it was the best decision I made. They gave me confidence, tricks, and skills in areas that weren’t easy for me. Cassandra is just a wonderful person, overall. I am convinced that Accelerations helped both my brother and I get into Yale as well as other competitive schools such as Carnegie Mellon where I happily study! Thank you for everything!

My daughter has been ACCELERATING since she was about 2 ½ years old and in only 4 – 5 short months we have already noticed leaps and bounds for her. She is late born so she will miss 1semester of school before she can begin and in continuing with Accelerations we are now totally confident she will start Preschool no prob. She loves working w Mr. Steve and his helper. Mr Steve is very professional and gives great feedback. Mrs. T is so passionate about teaching and it shows. Very Happy very satisfied totally worth every penny. Send your kid u will not regret it!
Mrs. T even helped my brother in his SAT prep tutoring. He had taken the test a hand full of times and after only a cpl of months working w Mrs. T his test score improved so much that the SAT people with held his score and accused him of CHEATING! If that’s what u call hard work with Accelerations on ur side!

Ms. T is a really good teacher. I did learned a lot of SAT stuff. She’s hilarious! and when it comes to SAT learnings, I was mind blown on how awesome her tricks were. Especially the easy and faster way to answer the math SAT. Its was a very late session in her class (4:00−6:00) at my school (Roosevelt) but you won’t regret being in there because its like a party of learning!

I am currently taking a SAT prep class at my high school, through the Na Hoku Ala program, which developed from Accelerations. Mrs. Tokars, the teacher, is really funny and enthusiastic! Her lessons have high energy and I enjoy coming to class. Her strategies are amazing and have changed my entire perspective of English, math, and writing. I use her strategies almost every day in school. She has given me the confidence to do well on the SAT and I am extremely grateful for all she has done. If Mrs. Tokars and her class are any indication of what the Accelerations Learning Center teaches, I highly recommend going there!

Preparing SAT at Roosevelt with Mrs. Tokars is the most interesting thing ever. She makes the class fun and understandable. I am always improving in her class. I recommend Acceleration Learning Center!

I am a junior at Roosevelt High School and I am currently taking classes for the SAT from Mrs. Tokars, (my second mom). In the past few weeks, I have learned many superb skills that would help me and others score at least a 1800 on the SAT. Her teaching is unlike any other learning center; she is interactive with her students and full of spirit. I am always eager to come to class. I am also fortunate to have had the class paid for by many great benefactors. I look forward to completing my learning from Mrs. Tokars and taking the SAT next year. I must recommend that you have consideration of this learning center.

its been hard to find my son a tutor he is open to learning with. He loves this place and looks forward to going twice a week. I highly recommend them.
