Great bar, fun crowd. Something different every night at the club. Nerd night is a great event to check out.

Went looking for a little dive bar to hang out 12−26−15 at around 9:30. Stopped by anna’s bc it’s near my house. Parked and walked up to the door. I asked the doorman if they had any specials. He wasn’t busy. It was dead on the street and inside. We were the only people on the street. He was just standing there alone. He just stared at me and said no. I asked if they had onion rings. He stared at me. I asked if they served food. He asked me for my ID. I told him I didn’t want to go in if they didn’t have food. And he just stared at me. It was awkward. Unwelcoming. I didn’t even want to go in after the very unfriendly response of the doorman.
I figured if the service was that bad at the door it would only get worse on the inside. I smiled, said no thank you and walked around the corner to Rock Bottom where the door man was so welcoming and friendly and the staff was so awesome.
I’m only writing this so the owner is aware.

Anna’s is great, just like the rest of the Irish bars. Killian’s on tap, pool table, dart board, and a cool showroom upstairs that has live music and comedy at times.

This is my go-​to hang out, and has been for over 3 years. The staff and patrons are great and always ready to provide good conversation and a safe place to spend an evening. PBR for $ 3.50 and a $ 4 whiskey special each month. So good!

I loved coming here when I was in college because of the live bands, drink specials and atmosphere. And now I am super stoked about the new Monday nights upstairs. HAUNTED with DJ Jody Rose is the kind of weekly event where gothic, industrial and fetish communities can begin the week with great music, dancing and tasty drink specials.

I’ve gone to their nerd night on Tuesday evenings. Think of it as a local Ted talk but over beers with friends.

Review for the upstairs bar:
There is a bar, some tables and a small stage upstairs for live music. I stop by here from time to time to see Fat Jesus perform and to provide moral support to the Fat Panda. (What a weird sentence out of context.) There are lots of different band that play at this venue and the genre ranges from reggae to bluegrass. The quality of the bands are hit and miss. The venue is a little divey, but it does make me nostalgic for my college days.
The employees are very friendly and serve drinks quickly. Overall, a cozy dive bar that’s worth a visit if you’re in the area.

My girlfriend and I recently popped in here one afternoon to have a couple of drinks. Soon after we grabbed a seat at the bar, our friendly bartender took our order and quickly delivered our drinks. She welcomed us warmly, as if we were already regulars.
I was super surprised to see another customer smoking a cigarette. Whaaat? Okay, so maybe I don’t get out enough but I haven’t seen someone smoking in a restaurant/​bar in ages. My friend smokes and was offered an ashtray (although we waited until we left to light ‘em up).
For me, I wish they served food cuz… I love to eat.

Love me some Anna’s! It’s what you get when you cross a classic dive bar with an Irish Pub and they have Live Entertainment EVERY NIGHT! I’ve seen so many good shows there and met some of the coolest cats in Honolulu! Anna’s… Supporting Live Local Music since 1969! Legends are born here!

STEAL FROM YOU! I went in last night and ordered a vodka soda and a Guinness from the upstairs bar. The female bartender working told me it was $ 25. I didn’t argue with her and paid, I even tipped her $ 5. There is no way that a vodka soda and a Guinness cost $ 25. She obviously saw how I was dressed and that I was paying in cash and decided to CHEAT me!!! DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE!!!

I love this place. I have been coming here for a few months and the regulars and staff are amazing. They are all professional, personable and… awesome. If you have a problem here, its your fault. Kim, Fuji, Justin, Ashley and Ronnie know what they are doing and are looking to be the Sam Malone to your Norm Peterson.

I’ve been to this bar two times in the last week. The first time was fine, we had a good time playing some pool and getting some drinks.
The second time I was asked to leave by the bartender with green hair because she didn’t like my signature on my ID. I’m 26 years old and have been to several bars and clubs without any problems but for whatever reason, she had a bone to pick with me. I wasn’t being loud or ruddy, it seem like she just didn’t like me. All my roommates who I was with who are younger than me had no problems whatsoever so it boggled my mind. I showed her secondary ID’s and even told her to put it under a backlight to show that it was legit but she refused.
We were planning on making this a go to place but we are better off finding somewhere that will not treat me like a criminal

The upstairs bar has been redone and is looking top notch! It is strictly no smoking. Plenty of room to dance. Vapor friendly!

Amazing bartender! Fun but chill atmosphere! Clean! Nice people! Meeting new people! Great place all around!

This place is my go-​to dive bar for live music and a laid back atmosphere. I haven’t smoked cigs in years (vape now) but I love that people are always smoking downstairs it feels like the good ol days, and for those that don’t like smoking they have a completely sectioned off upstairs area for live music and smoke-​free drinking so you can get the best of both worlds. and in case you are wondering they are vape /​cloud friendly upstairs so vape on while you watch the music!
The best thing about anna’s tho is the other patrons, everyone is always friendly and willing to strike up a conversation about anything.
Those of us that spend a lot of time here usually end up joining «the mug club», basically a mug is auctioned off every tuesday night at 10pm and those that own a mug get discounted draft beers and a free raffle entry twice a week!
Bill, the owner and all the staff are always friendly and treat everyone with respect you can’t go wrong with this place.
Would love it if they sold food or snacks at least but it would be difficult with the way the place is setup.

I went here with a few friends for a comedy show. The place was relatively clean upstairs. Downstairs was a different story. I spent the majority of my time upstairs where the show was occurring. Drinks were reasonably priced. There was a large crowd and no air conditioning so everyone was burning up despite the lights being out and the fans going full blast. It was a fun atmosphere. Service was alright but they seemed extremely understaffed.
We parked next to Teddy’s burger in the customer stall without any issues. Parking next to Anna’s is quite limited.

love the laid-​back atmosphere and diversity of the floorplan… upstairs is where the bands and other performers do their shows (usually with a cover), downstairs is always free and has many low 4-​top tables plus 3 more hightops against the walls, a table for Billards and a full bar on both levels. Never had a bad experience here for this white girl!

Response to the those who whine about the smoke:
You have ALL THE OTHER BARS (less 3) to choose from. Go somewhere else. People come here BECAUSE you can smoke.
If bar-​goers really wanted smoke-​free bars, they would’ve existed pre-​smoking ban.

Those who know me are well aware that I am not a huge fan of bars or their patrons. The idea of going into a crowded room full of intoxicated people to acquire a beverage readily available in my own refrigerator hardly seems worth the effort.
With that said, I may have bitten my tongue.
Since moving back to Honolulu, I’ve met up with friends for drinks at Anna’s a handful of times. Although hesitant at first (hesitant may be the understatement of the year), I eventually gave in, and i’m happy to report that i’m glad I did.
Anna O’Briens is a pretty awesome little place. Reasonably priced drinks, Live music (on certain days), and the staff there is great. Depending on when you get there, you can probably get on the pool table or one of the dart boards.
And best of all… Guinness on tap!
This may seem like a small victory to you, but I appreciate Guinness on tap right by my apartment. lol.
Now, The place does still get crowded on the days you would expect (friday/​sat), and I prefer to stay away when all the chairs are taken. But overall, I am very happy with the staff and service over at Anna’s. This bar may be singlehandedly changing my views on bars as a whole.
