We came to Bar35 during happy hour and our server was really informative and helpful especially for our first time. She recommended my boyfriend and I really awesome beers and food items. My boyfriend and I loved the atmosphere outside, the food, and drinks! Definitely coming back!

love the happy hour till 10p, service usually on point, George behind the bar is lovely and accommodating. the back area is great for enjoying the cooler nights during the«winter». bartender in the back can be a bit gruff, but the vodka specials are $ 3.75…so… the new tables inside are such an improvement over the old couches. unless it is first friday, its usually not crazy busy. love it!

Unilocal 100 Review Challenge 2015: 127⁄100 NEWFAVORITEPAUHANASPOT!!! I visited Bar 35 once with some college friends right after turning 21 and the experience is all a blur. Now I’ve returned as a downtown-located-working-professional with a whole new appreciation for this place. At 5pm on a hump day Wednesday, Bar 35 was surprisingly empty. We grabbed a table, most are made for party of 4’s though they do have a couch and lounge area for more. Their happy hour menu is awesome(see photos below). I ordered three $ 3.75 drinks which included Miss Chinatown, Asian Fusion and a chocolate martini which were all awesome. They have daily specials, and for Wednesday they have a sample flight of 4 beers for only $ 7 — so we had to order that! We also got the eurofries($ 6) but 25% off during happy hour. The fries were delicious but the side dip is an extra .50 and is on the smaller side. Major props to the server who seemed to be the only server even as the crowd started to grow. She was prompt with filing our waters, taking and delivering our orders and they even had a raffle ticket for a free electric bike that she had us enter! Amazing server! The lighting is rather dim, the bar is LOUD even at 50% capacity and parking could be an issue if you come during happy hour(5p-6p for food, 5p-10p for drinks) where street parking in downtown isn’t free BUT I will definitely be back! Great service, drinks & prices — can’t go wrong! Plus, they projected the Golden State Warriors game on the wall which my Fiancé enjoyed to watch, that’s an added bonus in my book!!!

Love the atmosphere on a random night out. Plenty of space and bartenders are attentive and friendly. Come on Wednesdays for their tour of beers. Samplers of a select beer genre, free pizza, and music. Personally avoid first Fridays due to the crowd everywhere, but always my first stop if I am out for the night. Note, you can go to bar 35 before 900⁄930 and there’s still a lot of space before the crowd comes in. Went there at 700 pm and there was ton of space to relax in door and outdoor. Eat a variety of pizza selections with some great beer. They even have an outdoor bar and seating for more space. Food — 4⁄5 Beers — 5⁄5(tons of selection) Staff — 5⁄5 Atmosphere — 5⁄5(off night)

Bar 35 is a great place to come during happy hour. You can enjoy select domestic beers for $ 3, most other beers are $ 4.50 and pints of draft are $ 5. They also serve some pretty tasty pizza and you get 25% off when you order two during happy hour. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Nice background music. Not too loud, so you don’t need to yell to speak. A solid four stars.

Bar 35 is located in the heart of downtown near Chinatown on Hotel Street. A great after work or late night atmosphere to mingle with friends or make new ones in the process. Parking is purely on-street unless you have access to a downtown parking garage.(And FYI, only city buses are allowed on Hotel Street) An extensive martini list(yes, I have tried them all LOL) and a beer/craft beer(micro-brew) selection that rivals, if not exceeds most gastropubs. The bartenders are very friendly and helpful in guiding your way down the cocktail menu. At first entry, the lounge appears to be a small, intimate lounge setting, however, wander down the hallway and work your way towards the back and there is an outdoor courtyard. Who would have thought there was a courtyard back there, complete with tables and landscaping? And yes, there is a bar back there too! A nice, intimate setting makes Bar 35 the place to be.

Bar 35 is one of my favourite bars– why? First of all, variety. They stock beers from all over the world; I was introduced to some of my new favourites thanks to the helpful staff. They have a diverse selection of wines, vodka, whiskey, you name it; if you like to drink it, they probably have it. On Tuesdays they offer a special on a bottle of wine(your choice) and one of their house-made brick oven pizzas. On other nights, they have cigar and scotch specials. Still on other nights, they have specials on their delicious shaken martinis, and let’s not forget Beer-venture Wednesdays! They host a variety of events as well, including Mad Men night, various fashion shows and live concerts, to even DJ competitions. Bar 35 has the perfect cool, timeless atmosphere that can take on a multitude of events, and still seem to fit, which makes it an ideal venue if you like to put on different music nights or events. Bar 35 is also quite spacious. There’s different seating areas throughout, whether you want to pull up a stool at the bar, lounge on the back lanai(which has its own outdoor bar), or sit with a bit more privacy on a cushy black leather couch surrounded by metallic beaded curtains. The staff is also phenomenal! The regular bar tenders are always friendly, quick to serve you, and knowledgeable of their products. If I ever forgot something or lost something, all I would have to do is call the next day and someone was willing to help, which I truly appreciate. Bar 35 just celebrated their 10th anniversary last week, and I hope to see them around for many more happy anniversaries! I recommend following their instagram(@bar35hawaii), so you can track just how many events they put on every week!

Love this place! The atmosphere is nice and the martinis are amazing. My favorite is the Ginger and Maryanne, but the dirty martini is also one of the better ones I’ve had. During happy hour, you can’t beat the prices especially for their quality!

It’s certainly sad to see it happen, but as other notable businesses in Chinatown shutter(Du Vin, Soul de Cuba, eleven44), Bar 35 is, and hopefully remains, the little engine that could. I caught an Über to First Friday this month and my driver had never heard of Bar 35. He asked me what they were known for, and I said artisan pizza to keep it simple. But truthfully their pizza, while better than average, is not the reason we keep coming back here. Instead, we swear by the extensive beer collection, cheap drinks, and thoughtful bartenders. Gretchen remembers that I like lemon in my water, Steph never misses a beat, and George always makes us feel welcome. We can’t go wrong with them. In addition to being efficient and friendly, they also think of creative ways to give back to their patrons. For example, they recently celebrated their 10th anniversary by offering everyone 2005 prices on a wide selection of beers. It was a creative, fun, and generous week-long promotion. For those unfamiliar with the layout, there’s an indoor and outdoor area with ample seating and standing room. It’s a good, versatile venue for everything from bachelorette parties to casual pau hana. This place also simply holds a special place in my heart. My hubby and I went on our first date here, and he would eventually propose in the same outdoor spot we first clinked glasses. We’ve enjoyed many fun nights here since, and our friends love it here too. Sentimental backstory aside, we come here for great service, bartenders, happy hour, and specials like the anniversary beers. Cheers, to Bar 35!

Bar 35 is still a great place to pau hana after work or reserve the indoor or outdoor area for a semi-private party with friends. They have a full bar, but beer lovers will be especially happy. Bar 35 has a great selection of bottled beers from around the world, beer tasting Wednesdays and featured beers of the month. For grindz, you want the pizza. Super thin crusts, loaded with interesting flavor combos, and during Happy Hour save 20% off when you order two. I don’t know what’s going on with the random things they put on the video screen, but they do make for interesting conversation and we always have a good time.

Bar 35 is just a really great venue. They recently did some renovations and their main seating area got a major update. Gone are the old black couches, and in their place you’ll find a more modern approach: tall tables accompanied by square stools — a classic pub look. The only negative: the harsh, interrogation-style lighting hanging above each table. What keeps me coming back? Well, it’s their Tuesday special: A whole bottle of wine and one of their delicious artisan pizzas for $ 25. Yes, you heard me winos! If you know me, you know there’s nothing I love more than those two things. And it lasts all the way until 9pm! Their Deep Forest pizza continues to be an all-time favorite of mine(prosciutto, mushrooms, mozzarella), but I daresay it may soon be eclipsed by their French Kiss(brie, ham, pesto, mozzarella, basil). While extremely delicious, their pizza is on the thin side so be prepared to order some appetizers if you come with a larger group. Most of the time you’ll find really great service here. My friend and I met up to partake in their Tuesday special one night and our waitress brought us our wine, uncorked and poured it for us, then waited as I sampled it to make sure it was to our liking! She really set the bar high. I recommend finding @Bar35 on Instagram because they’ve got some amazing deals only their followers would know about. For example: For the whole month of July, their Tuesday special wasn’t limited to Tuesday. That’s right, you could’ve gotten it ANYTIME Monday — Thursday. It was like the heavens parted and I was getting a little glimpse of heaven… Well anyway, I guess you know where to find me every Tuesday.

This place is a complete mess. I’m honestly surprised it has good reviews. First off parking sucks! After you find parking, you need to walk(either carry your heels, wear flip flops or have a person to lean on). After you walk and see many«night shift workers», you finally get to this place. First thing after paying $ 5 to get in, the fact that there is no AC, smells like a locker room and it is extremely crowded. We made our way to back and it was even more crowded and so small. I felt extremely uncomfortable, but was able to relax a little after my boyfriend got us a drink. We then sat down after some people left and we smoked a couple of cigars. The people who come here seem like regulars and it was very hipster. The girls who work there and get you drinks wear this trashy looking lingerie outfit, seriously? After a drink and a smoke, we were sooooooo done with this place.

I love this bar! The owner is very friendly(at least I think he’s the owner), and in addition to having the best bottled beer collection on Oahu, the pizza here is delicious as well! I definitely recommend going through each of the Belgian beers that they carry, even though they are a bit pricey(but only slightly more expensive than whole goods) and definitely try the sweet Bangkok pizza! Thanks for the great times bar 35!

Pretty chill spot in Chinatown with a lot to offer. When we went on a Saturday, there was a DJ spinning some old school R&B and rap songs. There was also a foreign film projected on the background and a large dance space with nobody dancing(yet). There is also a beaded lounge area and a outside patio with different music playing and several smokers congregating. I feel like you can be sort of bi-polar and move around this place throughout the night, deciding how you exactly want to spend your time. The bartender was really knowledgeable and gave background facts on several beers. The selection was pretty extensive which is why I relied on the bartender so much to give me something unique based on my parallel beer preferences. This bar was my favorite bar out of all of the places I went to in Honolulu and I feel like if I lived there, I would add this place to my regular list of places to go.

It was a Saturday night and my friends and I wanted a cool place that you could dance but wasn’t too much like a club. My friend asked a random person where to go and they suggested Bar 35. I’m so glad my friend did that. This place was awesome. When I first walked in, noticed how big the place seemed. The bar was long, they had some tables and there was a DJ set up on a stage with some random movie playing in the background. I felt like I was in Austin or something with the setup. Then they had a patio area as well and some I guess lounge area inside near the bathroom. The bartender, George, he was amazing. The place, and I remember it, doesn’t have draft beers but they have hundreds of bottled beers. So it became a game with myself and the bartender, where he would just pick out random IPAs for me to drink. Honestly, I only maybe liked one of them(Shipwrecked by Mission Brewery) but these were beers I had never heard of. Among them, Galactica by Clown Shoes and Humboldt Brown Hemp Ale. Although they weren’t my particular cup of tea, I’m so glad he didn’t waste my time with like a Sam Adams or something. The guy was legit. The DJ was playing some great hip hop. It would fluctuate from some older stuff like Biggie Smalls and jump back to not as old stuff like Ludacris. Overall, it was a nice mix and made you want to dance. Too bad the place just didn’t have enough people in it. It was maybe around 11. Don’t know when people party in Honolulu. I thought last call was 2. It’d be a shame if people just didn’t like the place. There were some other people getting down as well, so it wasn’t a ghost town. We also ordered some fries from the bar. They were nice and hot and hit the spot to soak up some of the double IPAs I had been drinking. Overall, loved the vibe of the place, George was an awesome bartender, and it had great music. This place was legit.

Cool bar, makes you feel a little bit like you’re in the bay area. Can’t quite put my finger on why. The beer selection is pretty solid and there’s enough space/crowd that you can have your personal space be large or small, based on your preferences. The pizza sounds good too. I like the idea of a gyro pizza.

HOLYBEERS, BATMAN! Another small-ish, hole-in-the-wall style bar that puts beer at the forefront of its business. There is the better end of 100+ bottles of beer ranging from $ 3.75 during happy hour, to around $ 20. On Wednesdays, they have a beer tasting for $ 25 that lets you sample about 4 ounces of 9 beers and also sample some of their pizzas. A pretty solid deal and enough to get a pretty good buzz if you’re not careful. On weekends, they usually have live music from local artists playing in an area with a pretty open seating. There is a more private room in the back if you’d like to reserve it for a small party. My only«complaint» is that since it’s downtown, parking can be rough, but this is true about all places downtown, so not really worth dinging them about it. Definitely worth a visit for any beer lover.

Attended a going away party here and I was pleasantly surprised. From the outside… it doesn’t look very fancy… of course… neither does anywhere else on Hotel St… when you really think about it! As we walked in, it was surprising to find out how large the space was. There is a good amount of seating, lots of standing room, and a pretty decent size bar. The liquor selection was pretty good as well… I didn’t try everything… and thank goodness because I would probably have trouble writing this review! There were also some private rooms towards the back which was nice, and if you walk even further back… an outdoor oasis! The back garden area is my favorite area of this bar. It has a nice area to sit, it’s own bar, and just has a nice feel to the space. It really makes you want to relax. We ordered a bunch of drinks and were able to try a little of the food. We had the Kalua pizza which was very good. It is a very thin crust pizza but the sauce had enough tang, and the flavors of the toppings were very good. I would definitely order this again. We also ordered the fries. My buddy ordered a side of curry aioli and that really went well with the crunchy saltiness of the fries. I would definitely go back here… probably to try more pizzas and of course… drink!

Bar35 lives up to its promise as Downtown-Chinatown’s hottest hot spot. Whether you’re going out to be seen in the scene, or perhaps grab a quick drink and bite in a more intimate setting you’ll be able to find it at Bar35 on at least one day out of the week. The Valentini’s fusion-gourmet pizza is one of the main draws for Bar35’s menu. If that doesn’t satisfy you, then there’s spicy edamame($ 6), EuroFries($ 6), crisp-spicy chicken nuggets($ 7.50) among other options to select from. Try the new chocolate espresso martini(decaf) for something sweet without bouncing off the walls from a sugar rush or caffeine high at 10pm. Happy Hour includes top shelf vodka Chopin and Belvedere martinis at $ 5 each. First Fridays and other events feature DJs and live bands among other entertainment. Get there early to claim your space because the bar fills up quickly. Keep your eyes open if you sit in the patio bar out back. You never know who you’ll see and what they’ll be doing. I’ll leave that part open ended so you can use your imagination.
