A chill lounge feel. Came here for the first time for Mardi Gras. I was a bit bummed that they were out of hard root beer– it was a chalk board menu so I figured they could have crossed it out or made a note so I wouldn’t get too excited. I like the seating at this venue. Although limited at the front, it is comfy open square design that seats 6 with a table in the middle. Good for groups, but also good if wanting to meet new people in a cozy and somewhat intimate space. Service was ok. The bands that played were awesome! Id like to come back on a non-event night to see how it feels.

The manager at Nextdoor is extremely rude and violent. I am very hurt and disappointed at the service we received last night during the Pato Banton concert. I really needed to use the restroom, the lights had just gone on and he stood in front of the restroom saying i could not use the restroom. I explained it was an emergency, if he would please be so kind and allow me to use. He said he did not care. I asked him where should I go then. He said he did not care, it was not his problem. I asked again if he would please let me use it, I would be very quick. Again he was sooooo rude to the point that I could not believe it and decided to just walk by him and go. Sure enough, he jumped at me with force and pushed me so hard my husband intervened, saying for him not to touch me. He started pushing and almost hitting my husband. The security came and forcefully held us like animals out of the club. I asked God to please bless them as we exited the club. The Pato Banton concert was such a loving, beautiful, heart warming, fun dancing concert. He asked in the beginning of the concert to make it a peaceful time. I could not believe we had been treated like that by the management. We stayed all the way to the end of the concert because we were truly enjoying ourselves so much. Both my husband and I don’t even drink alcohol, so we where not under the influence or having any kind of attitude with the manager. It was the experience of someone using their power to hurt others, having no regard for human need, no compassion, and such a negative attitude and violence. I am extremely disappointed at what happened last night. I would like to ask the owners to please have a serious talk with the manager, because the way I was treated is not the way you treat your patrons. I had never in my life, I am 36 years old successful business owner, mother of 2 boys, never in my life I experienced such bad service. Thank you for taking the necessary measures to assure no one who is completely sober and just needed to quickly use the restroom before heading home to be treated with rudeness and violence by your staff. Rude and violent security, who will without hesitation mistreat anyone including ladies. On, January 15th, we attended a show there(Pato Banton), which was an AMAZING show, 5 stars for him. However, the management/security of the place is a case for the police. I personally I will not come back there until I know the current management has changed. I know my safety is at risk there, I do not recommend anyone Bar Next Door. Among other things, I witness a security guard attacking a lady just because she needed to use the restroom 10 seconds after the show was over and when her husband come to rescue her the other security cliched and choke him like he was a criminal, then they literally throw out this couple in the street.

Approached the front of this bar on a Friday night and asked what the cover was. When told it was $ 10 per person and when we asked what the reason for the price was we were told to «get the fuck out of here and that the bar could do without your cheap ass.» When I inquired about why the door person was being so rude I was told that«you are cheap and we don’t need you here if you don’t carry cash. Obviously if you don’t have $ 10 each You aren’t going to spend money on drinks.» I asked the person if they were the manager and was told that they«own the fucking bar» and«to move immediately or the cops will be called.» So overall… I would say this place sucks and has terrible ownership and management and will NEVER go there again. Also I will be leaving comments on trip advisor and matador as a local

Went recently for a lip sync night and felt like I was stepping back into my early twenties. I was looking around like, «Really? Did I look this young the last time I was here?» That being said, no one iced me out or accused me of being a narc so I can safely say that I was into it. One thing that was kind of a bummer was that the drinks were a little inconsistent. One Jameson/Coke would be super weak, then it would taste like they just went, «Screw it,» and used well because it was closer. However, the time that I actually went up to the bar and ordered a drink for myself made up for all of this because the bartender basically gave me a cup of Jameson that she very lightly soda colored, which I’m all about. End of story, I got drunk, so did everyone else in my party, and my friend won the contest even though he was up against a middle-aged man who rocked out full drag. I would absolutely go back if someone else was driving, but this isn’t an automatic go-to for me. Fun if you’re down for the type of crowd that would randomly wrap an arm around your neck and yell, «Dude, this is my friggin jaaaam,» into your ear. And let’s be honest, it’s nice to be held sometimes… so…I may have just talked myself into going back.

When a show is in progress, I get the fact that bar staff tend to not being as attentive to customers. That being said, being lazy or laxed service shouldn’t happen either. This is what happened when ordering a drink last night at the Rocky Rivera show. Am I the type of customer that gets irritated when trying to order a drink and three people behind the bar or talking story or on their phones. Yes. After waiting patiently for close to a minute, I decided flagging someone down by waving my hands was the only option because the show was going on and I’d rather spend my time enjoying that then waiting to order a drink at the bar that wasn’t even busy. I wave my hands to get someone’s attention then the bartender mocks me and approaches me with a «what do you want attitude’…I was offended and upset because there was no urgency shown by the guy and you just don’t do that to paying customers. That shit is customer service 101. If drink orders were coming in at a crazy pace that’s a different. The bar staff here needed to be more attentive and show more aloha, that type of behavior may cost the bartender a few bucks from that customer but add that shit up in the long run instead of making rookie moves like mocking a customer. Do your job!

Awful management. They don’t provide water for anyone. Terrible bouncing music. Do not come here. I regret bringing my friends here. There area plenty more great places to come in Chinatown. Go to manifest or fresh café. Those places are much better.

I love the look and feel of this venue but the bartenders are not very friendly. They rarely smile or seem happy to have your business. I thought it especially lame that when you ask for a water they hand you a bottled water and ask for $ 2. I said I wanted tap and the bartender said«We sell bottled water». Bottled water is terrible for health and the planet so I never drink it. Charge me a dollar for a glass of tap and I’m fine with that. I understand you need to make money but forcing bottled water is unnecessary and fills landfills. Eleven 44 down the street in Chinatown has a water station set up on the bar with glasses and pitchers so you can help yourself. That is a very classy way to serve your customers water needs.

Haven’t been here in a while but it looks like it got a little upgraded. I held a few fashion shows here in the past as well as participating in a few as well. The owners and staff like most places in the district are really humble and cool. I’ll be attending an event here on 11⁄7 for first Friday and will be judging a pin up contest so hope to see some familiar faces again.

This place is a bar/club with a big open space design that I really like. The exposed brick walls and cool graffiti art gave it a comfy but trendy feel. The music was really good and they had male and female pole dancers doing their thing in front of the DJ which was a fun surprise. The bartenders are great and really take care of you so make sure you check this place out next time you’re in Chinatown.

Went there cuz Chef Kyle was cheffing it up with his new pop-up menu. W. O. W! What a change from your average bar food. Awesome large sized sliders of different varieties. Maybe we were lucky with the smoked salad that he made us, but OMG so ono, never had something like that before! The drinks were interesting… some of us weren’t a fan, so they were so kind to make it better for us! YAY for them being accommodating. We were there on a wednesday night, so it wasn’t busy. which was perfect for our party of 8! =)

Nextdoor is a sweet little spot in china town. A lot of art work on the walls, a front center stage, two bars, and VIP seating makes this a definite favorite of mine. I have not been there for a regular club night yet but they have those and some concert type nights, which I know is more of their focus. The bartenders there are super cool and knowledgable and can make just about anything, and if they dont know, they are more than happy to make it if you can show them the recipe. The music is always really good and the DJs are pretty awesome and play some sweet videos on a large projector at the stage. The club has a good vibe and feel to it because of the décor and atmosphere. Parking as many of you know is decent. It is chinatown so there are plenty of street parking and small pay for lots. There is one that is fairly close that is 12 dollars flat rate which isnt bad if you carpool and cant find street parking. There are bathrooms at this location, not labled for male or female but the one to the right has a urinal so I am assuming thats the male one. There is no food at this location. I recommend this place as a chill spot or somewhere to go to watch a good show. I will update more as I see more shows and check out different nights.

I only like to come here when there is no cover, because the drinks are a bit on the pricey side, but its a nice venue. It’s always too loud because its somewhat of a small space confined by brick walls so the sound just bounces back and forth. If you have sensitive ears be sure you bring a set of ear plugs so you dont bust your ear drums. The renovations look great and its much more inviting than before. The bathroom situation is much better as well. If you get hot really quick in bars/clubs, your in luck because it seems as if they upgraded their AC system and its working amazingly.

Big bar, with several bar tenders, which makes getting drinks easy. Good music(although this is highly subjective, and it varies), decent amount of seating. It gets hot and crowded on first Friday, but that is status quo in China Town.

Like other Chinatown venues, this place had me at exposed brick. Despite never knowing when it’s going to shut down for a few months, Nextdoor has remained one of my favorite places to drink and dance in Chinatown. There is a huge, open dance area, complete with stage for performers and DJ’s. The perimeter of the room is lined with tables and leather seating so you can rest and cruise when you want to. If you follow the loooong bar to the back of the room, there is an enclosed area for sitting, but, like the upstairs bar and balcony, it is generally reserved for VIP’s at events. Speaking of events, they’re hit or miss here. While I really like the look and feel of the high ceilings, art on the wall and laser lights in a dimly lit room, the acoustics aren’t very good and it can get uncomfortably loud. It’s mostly EDM and niche genre music here. Sometimes you walk in and the place is packed with a really eclectic crowd, other times it’s completely empty. Generally, if there’s no cashbox when they check my ID, I keep walking… unless I just want a chill night with friends.

HELICOPTER — Art & Flea After Party at Next Door Lately, I’ve felt like a zombie & lost my zest for life, because I’ve been working + focusing all my energy into projects. People underestimate the importance of having fun on a regular basis(I’m guilty of this) & when I turn into a zombie, I HAVE to make time for myself. Something that makes me feel 1,000x better is dancing & even though my dance moves will make you laugh; it doesn’t matter cause I’m not dancing to impress anyone. You have no idea just how excited I was to finally go dancing(after talking about it for weeks) & to dance at Next Door(my favorite venue) on a weekday was the cherry on the top! It was a special edition of Helicopter since it was the Art & Flea After party &CD Release for local band Vice Vicarious + their last show. It was bittersweet to watch Vice Vicarious, this was my first time seeing the band perform & it was their last show. However, my sadness was temporary cause after Vice Vicarious’ amazing performance, all I could think about was dancing. I can’t thank DJ Matt Ratt enough for playing, «Hello» by Martin Solvieg ft. Dragonette, this song brought me back from my zombie existence. It also made me realize, I need new dance moves; good thing I’ll have plenty of time to practice since it’s summer.

I went to the Kina Grannis concert here… and yes, it was my fault for standing RIGHT by the speakers, but… I was standing right by the speakers the whole show. So I couldn’t really enjoy it. I wish they had seats… the stadium kine where it’s elevated towards the back… so that everyone can see. Yes, in a dream world. The bathroom situation totally threw me off. It’s coed. And there’s small pukas that people can look inside to see if anyone is inside… and there’s no locks. But I guess that makes sense since this is a bar… and perhaps someone could be stuck inside there totally drunk… Unilocal 365 Challenge #299/365

My favorite venue to take photos at by far. The brick wall does wonders! The drinks are awesome and the bartenders are very nice and attentive. Always great entertainment here. There’s an upstairs room but I haven’t been there(I NORATE!). Sound, their projector and the images they display are always very trippy and fun to look at. Saw my favorite artists here Murs & Flying Lotus :) They always know who to bring down!
